How do you know they are trustworthy?
Well, only way is to check the data, compare with other data from other sources, crosscheck again, network/discuss with others who've also researched the field, and see how it all fits together. The point is not to trust anything or anyone, the point is to check the evidence presented and to draw one's own conclusions. In short, if you're sincerely interested, do your own research… that's what this forum is about. We don't spoonfeed people here :)
Yep. On that note, I don't think any of us here think Keel or Vallee had a complete grasp of the subjects they talked about (I certainly don't). While more accurate than most in my view, their work is still just one thing: data to be sifted through, checked and refuted or verified. Take Fletcher Prouty. Yeah, he was military, but that doesn't necessarily mean the things he had to see were not true. Disinfo mixes in lies with truth. It can also be disinfo by virtue of what it leaves out. Even if what Prouty says is all true, the fact that he does not mention ANYTHING about the ties between the CIA and Mossad is telling to me. Perhaps he was not aware? Perhaps he did so for strategic purposes, or other? The fact is, the only way to get a handle on things like this is to read other sources for that information and use your brain to create a wider and more detailed picture of what is really going on. To reconcile contradictions or complementary information, or to identify a lie or a deceptive ruse when no reconciliation is possible.
With Keel I disagree with his views on the UFO coverup. I think Rich Dolan's work there is far more comprehensive and well-researched. But I think he is spot on with his views on the 'paranormal' aspects of the phenomena. As for Vallee, I think his idea of a 'control system' is very likely, but his interpretation of why exactly this system exists leaves much to be desired.
If a military dude says, "2+2=4", is he trustworthy? Maybe not, maybe I can find evidence that he's being paid to say that (among other things). But I can verify for myself his statement. I can even say, "This guy is a proven liar, but what he says here is true." I feel sorry for those people who would refuse to believe 2+2=4, simply because the person saying it is a gov shill (otherwise known as throwing the baby out with the bathwater). But then again, THAT is one purpose of disinformation, no? Just look at Alex Jones.
Solution? Use your brain, know your weaknesses, and trust no one.
