Jordan Peterson: Gender Pronouns and Free Speech War

I found this video where Peterson talks to an unspecified audience and really enjoyed it. J.B. talks about postmodernism and how to defeat it... well, he admits he has no answer as to how but he brings on the previously articulated suggestion to get one's life together and take care of one's own suffering to make life bearable, better than before. Everyone familiar with his work will have heard this before from him but in this particular shot Peterson is very sarcastic and funny and explains the whole thing in a very short time frame (13 minutes).

Today I have also listened for the second time to the Mind Matters show 'Analyzing Jordan Peterson's Soul - Fragment of the Divine' and it was a great show. Thanks go to Harrison, Elon and Corey. Perhaps the most significant moment for me was the part where it is stressed that when it comes to creativity and entropy, it basically is a black & white choice. Nothing in between because if you try to reap the benefits of creativity without taking the risk of failing you are ultimately choosing entropy. It might just be slower and you may spent the whole life enjoying yourself but you will end up empty and realize perhaps too late that you have done nothing to make yourself and the world better so the life was wasted. Which fits perfectly with what Peterson is saying in the video above. Stop complaining and start acting. Yeah, life is suffering but do we want to get acknowledged for our suffering or do we want to actually take responsibility for our life and change the outcome?

My god, from a man who makes great speeches, that was one of his best. Inspiring, grounded, truthful and useful. It was also one of the very first I remember being exposed to.

They call religious preachers "firebrands" when they get going on their subjects, and I've never been able to sit through one without rolling my eyes or silently arguing every second point.

In the "Life is Religion" credo, however, JBP is a firebrand worthy of the name.

There is some sad news released regarding Jordan Petersons wife and that she got diagnosed with kidney cancer this year.

Jordan Peterson, a Canadian clinical psychologist and thought leader, is working on a new online communication platform, but his own online social media presence has dwindled recently.

Jordan Peterson has explained that the widespread hostility he's faced on social media helped him overcome an addiction to Twitter.
“I really got hooked on Twitter and it wasn’t good for me", he said in an interview with Andrew Billen of The Times. “I don’t tweet so much now. I have two million Twitter subscribers and I felt morally obligated to stay on top of it, but I found the general milieu so toxic that it was not psychologically tolerable".

While Peterson’s estimates of his own Twitter audience appear to be inflated (his Twitter page shows 1.24 million followers), he does look less talkative on the platform than he used to and now mostly updates his audience on his podcasts or retweets articles.

The past several months have been not been particularly fortunate for the 12 Rules for Life author and his family. His wife of 30 years, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in spring, is currently recovering from surgery.

“We’re all rather devastated at the moment. My wife is very ill. She’s had two surgeries in the last two months and is suffering from severe complications from the last one, and the prognosis overall is uncertain", he said.

His daughter, Mikhaila, has suffered from serious health problems, from autoimmune problems to depression, and had a hip and ankle replaced due to arthritis when she was 17.

She had another ankle replacement in January. “So it has been one hospital trip after another for the last six months", Peterson recounted.

In a bid to cure depression, Mikhaila adopted an all-beef carnivore diet, and her father followed suit. Jordan Peterson, who by his own admission, has suffered from depression since he was 13, insists that this diet helps you feel better.

Whether eating only beef is enough to feel good remains to be seen.

“Do I feel I’ve had a hard life? There’s been some of it that’s been hard", he admitted. “It’s by no means been hard compared to many people’s lives, but there’s a strong familial streak of depression that runs through my family. That’s been hard. My daughter’s illness was hard, very hard at times. It was very difficult to see her in pain for so long".

“On the other hand, I’ve had great good fortune", he added. “I have a great extended family. I’ve had a wonderful career. I’ve had this strange streak of unparalleled success, but I’m distraught currently because of this unexpected occurrence in my family, which is quite devastating to everyone concerned".

”I’m having a difficult time reconciling myself to it, my own good advice notwithstanding. That was a shock and it’s conceivable that I wasn’t in the best psychological state to have received that news because the last three years have been, let’s say, exhausting".

In Berkeley certain words that contain man or men are now removed:

As part of the politically correct purge of offending, gendered language within the city’s municipal code, a “manhole” will now become “maintenance hole,” “craftsmen” are now “artisans,” “heirs” are “beneficiaries,” and “manpower” will now be classified as “human effort.”

Statistically speaking over 95 % of the US firemen are simply men. Imo this is just madness.

Prof. Collum addresses this "word" problem in the podcast linked in this article,

Well, it is Berkeley so this is hardly a surprise as they are notoriously 'woke' [ugh, what a despicable word, for so many reasons ] However, I give them a massive  for this, especially for 'heir'; what on earth is wrong with that?! :umm:

So i came across this snippet apparently from the 2019 meeting of the Democratic Socialists Of America on Twitter yesterday and i couldn't quite believe it was real (and i'm still dubious about the first one). I had a look around and there was no evidence of the full debate elsewhere online except that it had been posted by journalist Andy Ngo's on his twitter and youtube channel.

Then today i come across what is apparently another snippet:

If these above videos are for real, and i'm leaning towards thinking they are, at least the 2nd one, it's clear to see who would readily support an authoritarian and crushing state.

Added: Here's another

I cannot believe I’ve just watched that... I love how they want to defeat capitalism while holding the presentation on their MacBook Air, the irony.

And wow, whenever I hear JBP talk about the radical Marxist left, I will think of this. How can anyone think when what they’re talking about is their inclusive language and how to properly not-clap or chatter or laugh or have an aggressive scent.

Yes, I'm quite skeptic too. It seems like they could have easily changed the audio, much like the 'Bad Lip Reading' satire Youtube channel does. If it's real though, I'd love to see the whole thing!

They uploaded the live stream on Youtube.

Whoever has time can comb through the recordings!

Or there is also this page:

I have no problem accepting that these vids are legit, that that is precisely the kind of thing you'd expect to hear at DSA convention. The DSA is a very small fringe organization, it's not even a political party per se, but rather a gathering of radical socialists. For most of the 37 years of its history, it has had just a few thousand paid up members. For example, in 2016 they had about 6.5k members. In 2017 however, their membership tripled to almost 20k, and then increased to 31k in 2018. Guess why, and guess what type of people joined?

Here's a pictorial hint, and the reason why the kind of discourse in the above videos ia not surprising.

Jordan Peterson has a new interview out. "Jordan Peterson Interview with Patrick Bet-David. In this second encounter these two thought leaders discuss tough times in the economy, the challenges of media, raising a family, fortune 100 companies hiring Ivy League students, Twitter and more life principles.
