Laura's books at Amazon

Writing a review for someone who has been so helpful to me was so simple and obvious that I'm amazed the idea had to be suggested. Another lesson; they're everywhere. Anyway, done, and more forthcoming. Review of The Wave accepted and posted within 30 minutes. Thanks, Laura

Published two reviews for 9/11 The Ultimate Truth and Ponerology.

If there was not this pesky harassment from the police and the Pepin-hoop we could now read new excellent books like these! Arrghh! :curse:

Not to worry, I'm in the writing groove - been hammering it out for almost two weeks now and it's moving along nicely. I'm thinking it will be done by the end of April or sooner.

Great to hear! It WAS mentioned in another thread that you're very busy writing by a Mod. :) If you don't mind my asking, is it the next volume of Secret History or another project? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

It took me quite a while to figure it out but it is Volume II of Secret History wich will be called (OSIT) "The Horns of Moses" and it will be completed probably by the end of April or sooner.

Joined in to help out last night. :)

First, had to open an account with the US shop. Then, made a quick purchase of 9/11: The Ultimate Truth and High Strangeness (Kindle versions) which enabled Amazon's "Like" feature. Otherwise, the total does not increase. Also, Kindle enables me to read the books on the Android phone and on "the Cloud" - which is available on any PC/MAC etc. It's very neat...

At the moment, I'm "liking" the books and going through the comments and reviews - these can be voted as either helpful or unhelpful. Comments can come in next. I noticed that there are lots of new ones posted in the last few days and this is what the "Most Recent Customer Reviews" are demonstrating. Not so sure it is a major drama though - it's creating an aura of a bestseller around the books...

Anywhoo, great idea. Are there any plans for more Kindle editions of the books? It's very handy to be able to read them wherever without having to cart the printed versions around. Maybe not necessarily the latest ones but some of the older classics?

Also, have you given a thought to distributing the e-books via Google Books? That gives you an easier access to the Android platform.

On Amazon when one has a book in the browser, there is a thumbs up sign just below the title. If one holds the mouse over the thumbs up it could say for example: "3 customers like this. Telling us what you like can improve your shopping experience. Learn more" I think that more thumbs up is a useful message to send to other readers of the pages and it is easy to do.

Thorbion, that's an excellent idea!

I did a search for Knight-Jadczyk and liked all 5 pages worth!

Laura, you can also log in to Amazon's Author Central using your personal Amazon account:

_https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/login.html

After you log in there are a few very important links you can use. One, you can add a little bio and photo for your author page. This will centralize all your books. Two, you can add books to your bibliography.

Since it matches the author name to your own account name, Amazon will automatically figure out if you are the author or not.

I would be surprised if Google Play (formerly Google eBooks) had more than 5% market reach, so I wouldn't worry about this too much. But it's certainly an ebookstore worth getting into if you can.

I'm going to start writing reviews for Laura's books gradually over the coming weeks. I didn't even realize I could leave reviews without having purchased that exact version! How silly. So I'm definitely doing it now. However, I won't be leaving multiple reviews for different editions of the same book, and I'll explain why:

There are two editions as you know, the new ones with different cover designs, and the old ones.

Laura, you can also combine editions so they are all on the one page. Supposedly, linking helps the books come up higher in the Amazon search algorithm. I know you can link hardcover, softcover and Kindle, and also for old and new editions (with different covers and revisions). This way, they all appear on the same page. If you're going to try this, perhaps try on the least popular and least reviewed book first. Just in case you lose the reviews on the old edition. According to Amazon, it will take a few days for the editions to combine and for all the reviews to appear on the same page. You should not lose reviews but I'm paranoid and would prefer you err on the side of caution. I would save the page to your desktop and keep a hard copy of those reviews regardless.

To try this:
-Log in to Author Center
-Click the Contact Us button (or this link: _https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us)
-Under "Select an issue," select My Books.
-Under "Select details," select Update information about a book.
-In the field that appears, select Update something else.
-In the next field that appears, select I want to link one edition of my book to another edition.
-Select how you would like to contact Amazon. (Email would be best, or a contact form.)
-Be sure to include the ISBN of the print editon and the ASIN of the Kindle edition.

If anyone has written identical reviews on different editions, they will both appear on the combined page. I'm not sure if the author has the power to remove reviews (I doubt it!), but the person who wrote the review can. I would encourage this, otherwise double reviews by the same person might later be seen as spam.

EDIT: I've noticed that High Strangeness already is combined!

In my efforts to continually post until there's a whole page written by me  I'm wondering if RPP and Laura have anyone in mind for the editing stages of Horns of Moses? I'd like to source an excellent structural editor, copy editor and proofreader and have the editors invoice me for the costs. I've come to know a bunch of editors in the publishing industry who are amazingly thorough. Some are booked out months in advance so this is something you'll need to think ahead with.

Also, is the dummies' guide to psychopathy still a work in progress or has it been shelved for the moment? I'd really like to participate or help it come into fruition.

You might need to add ALL of the titles to your bibliography (using Author Center) before requesting the combining of titles. Some of the newer titles do not have any reviews, but the older ones do. So combining would hopefully fill out all the titles with a certain amount of reviews.

Titles that can be combined (not including other languages):

I was doing that when I was writing reviews and voting up helpful reviews and voting down unhelpful ones. I so easy -- just a click. By the way, I've had a setback, so I'll continue with the reviews process when I get a chance.

When I get home to my computer... I'll work on this, so ya'll remind me. We are still down south camping out near the cryo center and I feel like I'm in exile!

Yes, this is a great idea. We've actually tried contacting Amazon about doing just this, but their customer service is atrocious and each time we've contacted them, they've said there's nothing they can do. So if Laura's able to do it via Author Central, that would be great! Thanks for putting all this together, Nathan.

Unfortunately the combining editions thing is something you contact Amazon for.

The directions I gave in the previous posts were verbatim from Amazon, so if you are as thorough as possible and make it as easy for them as possible by including the relevant ISBN and ASIN numbers (ASIN are for Kindle ebooks) and doing exactly as the instructions say, then -- considering I've read a few blogs where authors do exactly this and only have to wait 2-3 days before the changes take effect -- the same should be the case for you. I'm also not sure if you were contacting Amazon through the general "contact us" section or through the specific "I want to link one edition of my book to another edition" contact form. This could mean the difference between having your request put into motion or -- because it's sent to the wrong place -- completely ignored.

Amazon are hopeless with customer service. My own book promotions are organized with Apple, none with Amazon. They just don't want a bar of it. Unfortunately though, Amazon is the largest ebookstore and bookstore, so we must do what we can to make these books as attractive and easy to purchase as possible.

Nonetheless, Laura can link all the books to her author profile on Amazon all by herself, including adding ALL of these books to her bibliography and including her author bio. You don't need to contact Amazon for that.

I had a time today to post a review for Debugging the Universe on com, ca, and uk sites (Amazon).

I'm trying to get back into "reviewing" stage but I've been working two jobs lately and working on school assignments, which has taken most of my time.

Thanks for all the info Nathan. That sounds like a good idea of combining editions of the books. I've noticed other books have different versions, as well as vitamins. You answered the question I was going to post about writing multiple reviews for each version!

I just sign up a new account in Amazon (I used to have one but I forgot it as I could never use it). I can't do reviews because I never could bought anything due to financial limitations and not having a credit card, howver I can click 'yes' in other reviews of Laura's books, I will try to do it wisely to avoid being too obvious. Clicking also in other books, music, etc..
