Laura's Stem Cells

That is wonderful, Laura! I am glad that you found and recieved such great care! Wishing you the best version of a full recovery possible! Rest and be well

This is Amazing news. The superior level of care and compassion you have received will no doubt do wonders in your recovery and the success of the treatment.

So glad to hear of the extensive testing, that is 'So Laura', lets pull every thread to find every answer to every question. Happy to hear that Ark was there with you throughout, as it should be, but not always allowed in certain other places (at no additional charge anyway).

Six weeks for these little guys to start doing their business, prayers to DCM that they get down to it. Although, they Are Working in the body of one Heck of a Strong Willed Woman ... they have no choice.

Best wishes to you Laura, candle lit everyday with prayers for your speedy recovery and rejuvenation.

Glad you were in good hands Laura! It really sounds like you all found the right place and you didn't have to go it alone. Hang in there :hug2:

Well done, Laura!

I'm so glad that you received the superior care you needed in the place that the treatment happened. As for the experience, although no walk in the park as described, it also sounds like it was one of complete caring and concern. Rest and get some more rest and may your recovery be steadied with the many hands to help.

A belated joyous Summer Solstice - welcoming home! :flowers: :hug2:

I'll get some photos re-sized and posted soon. Mostly resting right now and getting used to the changes in my system as result of the meds and whatever.

That would be great, as I am really curious about this treatment, and its scope in treating other ailments. I hope you get plenty of rest & see improvements health wise soon.

Some photos:

1) View of the clinic in Belgrade. They have rooms for five inpatients but have quite a few outpatients who stay in local hotels or holiday apartments and come in for the treatments during the day. In this photo, we have just arrived and are sitting on the back terrace chatting with one of the nurses.

2) They got me started on drips pretty quick after all the intake interviews.

3) After the harvesting, first batch of stem cells.

4) The post surgery monitor shows me still pretty out of it.

5) After a few days, I'm really swelling from all the drips going in so they give me the Anaconda (our name for it) which squeezes the leg from the foot to the thigh in a wavelike movement.

6) Able to sit up... having a smoke break with the girls on the balcony.

7) I spent the whole time there plugged into something or other.

Thanks for posting the photos! It looks really clean & welcoming (both inside & from the outside). Most clinics and hospitals I've seen or been in have a very stark, clinical somewhat foreboding look and feel to them.

I am so glad that everything finished without any problems. The whole past week I had a feeling that something is wrong with you, but I thought that you are in a bad health condition and that you are preparing yourself for a trip to Moscow.
Then there was some post occasionally from you and I thought that you are still home preparing for the trip and that you are either very busy or very ill. I looked on the forum to find any post where is something explained about your treatment, but could not find anything new.

And then yesterday, after I read your FB post I felt like a big stone felt from my heart. The procedure was over and you were ok at home. And now reading this topic made me little emotional.
I am really happy for you that after this your health will be much better. I hope we can hear a good news about your condition soon when all those stem cells will start working.
Have a nice rest and good and fast recovery. :hug2:
Cant wait to see you  very soon :) :flowers:

Oh yes, it looks so nice, clean, peaceful and warm! Like a family home/B&B. But what an ordeal it must have been. All for the best though, hopefully. Wishing you the best recovery, and waiting for you to be ready to r'n'roll :scooter: :bacon:

The place looks so welcoming both inside and outside.

So glad that the treatment went in a warm and caring atmosphere, Laura! The photos made me cry with tears of joy and relief.

Big hugs! :hug2:

Good to hear that you are back home with a positive experience! Hopefully the positive effects will manifest in the coming weeks and months :)

The clinic was immaculately clean and a very good cleaning staff, too. The food was so-so to inspired home cooking. The best part was just having a really, REALLY, comfortable bed where most drips were given.

The only drip that was given under constant observation was the umbilical stem cells because some people have an allergic or rejection reaction. The reaction is not really to the stem cells but to the agent they are conserved in. They are washed three times before being given, but sometimes a molecule of the chemical is still there and people react to that. So, you get a couple of drugs beforehand, and then they are given in the medical room which is like "intensive care" and all vitals monitored throughout.

The OR is like an operating room/laboratory combined because as soon as they get the fat and marrow out of you, it is handed to the biologist who starts processing it. Within 3 hours, you get the marrow stem cells and four hours for the fat stem cells. Then, they multiplied them and gave me another dose a few days later after the umbilical cells. So, altogether, I got four bags of stem cells. They said my fat was very good, my stem cells dense and robust. They also banked them so that I can go back and get more of my own without another "harvest."

The liposuction part was the worst - really painful and still hurts somewhat. The marrow harvest from the hip was easy as pie and never hurt a bit even though I woke up at one moment and could feel them hammering or drilling their way into the bone. It didn't hurt, just felt weird. As soon as they knew I had come to a bit, they turned up the drip and I was out like a light!!! They keep the anaesthesia as minimal as possible and when it is over, you wake up pretty quick.
