Re: FIR Sauna Burning Problem

Sorry for catching up late on this thread. We have one from Get Fitt and so far, no problem. The serial number is C20014081. Bought a year and a half ago.
I am a bit nervous about using it again, though, in the light of all this...

Re: FIR Sauna Burning Problem

My blanket has 4 scorch marks on the outside edge of the blanket, one burning all the way through. I contacted the company, PromoLife but because I've had the blanket for over a year, the warranty is up and they will not do anything to remedy the situation. They said that the only reasons the blanket would do this is because of improper storage or the use of oil. I did neither. :(

Hi Mrs T.

So far, it seems only the "AP" serial numbers have caused serious problems.
We have a new one and will continue to use it, but I think if you check it after each use as an extara precaution it wil be fine.
Also, if you feel any unusually hot spots, it may be an indication that something is up.

I find their attitude incredible. If I were you, I would go back to them, because so far (I think) all of the blankets are over a year old and have been replaced. Gett-fitt have been very honourable in that respect

You have a number of precedents here, and I would be happy to offer my testament if you need it.
Let me know if I can help

Al

I think you should call them back and talk to Gerry Segal. He's the owner of the distributorship, or was a couple of years ago. 888-742-3404.

Well, Black Swan you can prove them wrong on that score! I can't imagine that they would be able to assert that improper storage or oil would mysteriously make your blanket begin to burn itself!

Perhaps some of us can help as Alphonse said by backing you up with information about just how many of these blankets seem to have this issue.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on. FWIW ours was 18months old and replaced no question

Ah, OK. Thanks for letting me know, Alphonse, I had missed that point.

That sounds like a good idea and will mention the other problems folks have listed as well.

Inspection of my unit reveals the AP number on the blanket and a C number on the controller.

It is only the blanket number that is important; it is the blanket that is replaced and not the controller. I'm still using my original controller as this was not returned with the blanket (keeps postage down :) as suggested by the supplier).

So far, out of 14 people who responded, 6 have defective blankets....that's a pretty high ratio.

Re: FIR Sauna Burning Problem

Does anyone know if the root causes of the problems with the sauna blankets from Mark (get-fitt) are fixed? What did he tell you?

I consider to buy one, but in the light of these amount of defective blankets it could be a quite expensive experiment and maybe a wooden FIR sauna would be a better investment. (even it is much more expensive)
