New Forum layout April 2018

Lots of thanks go to Scottie for the forum upgrade! It was a LOT of work. It will take some time to get used to the new layout, features, etc. but the effort will be worth it in the end.

Completely agree, and thanks a lot Scottie for all the effort. I'm sure you will have to straighten out lots of things for some time to come, so again: much appreciated!

With the new features and the new overall vibe, it kind of feels like a new era and I'm looking forward to how all that will manifest! :wizard:
 
Me again, is there a way to mark as read the PM's? In order to not have the little red box at inbox?

Another quirk of the new design showed itself while making a new bookmark using Firefox.

In the old system any bookmark displayed the title of the topic where it belonged to, and stated the full URL of it to the side. Like this:

In the new system a bookmark displays the time stamp of the post, while the full URL now states the topic title and post number. Like this:

A moment ago written URL -- failed to register here even when typed manually

It seems obvious that after a while any search in my lists of bookmarks (using the Firefox search function) becomes obsolete because it has only time stamps to go on, but not topic subject titles as the URL info doesn't register as such.

I've no idea how this could be fixed. :-[

You can do it like this:

On your Inbox page, click the Selected button on the top right.

Then, at the bottom of the page a blue bar will appear.

Click Select all on the blue bar, and then in the pulldown menu pick Mark as read.

The only problem is that you have to do it for every page of messages (by clicking "Next"), as far as I can see. So if you have a lot, it could take some time.

Reopen all of the messages individually by double clicking them and it will clear the red box and flag indicating the number of unopened messages.
 
My brain is still getting used to new layout so I cant dish out any compliments yet :) Definitely gratitude for all the hard work this transfer entailed. When I logged in my profile reverted to original nick I choose when I first joined the forum. So far I was unable to find if its possible to change it. Its no biggie I dont mind this nick.
I also noticed spell check behaves oddly at times.

I had to change several settings, and I'm guessing others will want to, as well.

Yeah, I find the feature that lets you see what others are currently viewing (and broadcasts what you're viewing) to be a little on the creepy side, so I'm shutting that right off. I love all the notifications for thread updates and the watched thread feature. :-D

I have like 20 pages of conversations - is it possible to select them all with one click or I have to go page by page?

You have to page by page. This has been discussed already, so please everyone read the thread carefully before asking questions that have already been answered.

I noticed that if I change my timezone in Preferences then forum post date/times are converted to my selected zone instead of UTC. I don't recall the old forum having that feature. Very neato :cool2:
