Re: Exploding transformers and other electrical problems

It looks like transformers explosion.

Mystery in Bridgewater: What caused strange glowing lights in the sky?

It may have looked like an out-of-this-world blast, but authorities say a mysterious glow that lit up the early-morning sky in Bridgewater today was no cause for alarm.

Some county and Bridgewater officials believe that transformer fires caused by heavy rain may have played a part in the freakish light show, although they had no definitive answers about the source of the lights.

Shortly after midnight, several Bridgewater residents reported seeing a pulsating glow in the distance that changed colors, similar to the aurora borealis. They said the lights appeared to come from the northern part of the township.

"The sky lit up like pure daylight," said 87-year-old Joseph Wing, who lives on Foothill Road. "This was unlike anything I’ve ever seen."

Wing said he first wondered if an explosion was responsible, but he didn’t hear a blast or feel an impact that matched the intensity of the lights.

He said the glow disappeared around 12:30 a.m. It was followed by reports of power outages in the township.

USER VIDEOS: NJ.com user Alyssa Dragon of Bridgewater shares this video taken from her home. She said she saw the lights around 12:45 a.m.

"On Facebook there were a lot a people saying, 'Oh maybe it was aliens, but I obviously knew that wasn't the most realistic option," Dragon said.

Bridgewater resident Mike Vida took this video in the Sunset Lake area of the town, near Interstate 78. Riffing off what many residents said the lights looked like — an alien attack — he titled his video "War of the World Lights."

"It was very, very strange," Vida said. "It didn't seem like an electrical problem."

A Bridgewater police official and a Jersey Central Power & Light spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment. But Township Council President Howard Norgalis said he was aware of several electricity-related fires around that time — most notably a sparking transformer near Milltown Road and Route 28.

Robert Bogart, township administrator, said there was also a transformer explosion on Route 202/206 and Heather Hill Way.

William Stahl, the county's 9-1-1 director, said he saw lights dimming and brightening on the horizon from his Warren Township home this morning. Based on Tuesday night's weather, the lights might have been caused by tree limbs falling on power lines, causing sparks and blown fuses, he said.

Early this morning, after the bright flashes of light began appearing in the Bridgewater sky, concerned residents and startled motorists called a live radio talk show on New Jersey 101.5-FM to report what they had seen.

Some callers reported what appeared to be a transformer explosion, with the sky lighting up in bright blue and green flashes that lasted more than a minute.

"I'm lying in bed when I hear this enormous rumbling sound," said one man who called the Ray Rossi show. When he looked outside his window, he saw blue and green lights in the sky, "like a flash of lightning that never stops."

A woman who called the radio station said she saw extremely bright blue flashes of light flickering in the sky and lighting up her neighborhood for about two minutes.

Reports of strange lights in the sky are nothing unusual for New Jersey. Among the most recent were mysterious lights in Morris County in 2009, though those were red lights that were later revealed to be helium balloons tied with car flares.

Re: Exploding transformers and other electrical problems

Must revive this thread to say that a transformer right near my house blew up last night and scared the living heck out of me :scared: :lol2: . We were in the dark for a couple of hours, but thankfully the electric company fixed it rather quickly, i was surprised.

From watching video from a blimp above the stadium, looked like a transformer blew out near the stadium.

Experiencing mechanical/electrical problems

Hey everyone I just wanted to get this off my mind, but for the last few weeks I've been experiencing a lot of electrical problems and it's starting to bug me.
For example I went grocery shopping the other day and my card didn't want to work. They said the line went down for my bank (I use this card everyday and at that shop all the time) and my card was not going through. I somehow was the only person there having that problem.
A few days later I went to the bank to put money on my card and the machine didn't want to except my pin number even though it was the right one. The bank had no idea why it was happening all the sudden to my card and they had to make me a new one.

I went to the post office to pay a bill for my husband and couldn't because the computers where down.
My Adsl is so not working well these days and keeps shutting off or going down to a minimum even though the phone company says my line is fine (the people that lived here before us had a great connection with the same company!) and I'm now getting 2 free months cause it hasn't been working which is not good for me as I own a on-line store
My DVD player broke, my computer is not working well and my husbands just keeps shutting itself off,ok he's got an old computer (a few years) but still!
My husband loaned me his phone the other day when I went out and on returning (I didn't even use it) it didn't want to turn on. He finally did get it to turn on and now jokes about not letting me touch his phone again lol :P

My cell phone went bonkers a year ago (new) and it's basically been at the repair shop since. They have given it back to me a few times but every time there is a new problem (doesn't turn on, screen goes black etc) so the last time they gave up and gave me a new phone and what do you know.... it didn't work, it just kept turning on automatically. They said they haven't experienced any problems with this phone model and were speechless.

And now this week my car totally broke down and the mechanic says among other things that the engine died. It's starting to feel like something bizarro is going on. I keep thinking that everyone related to sott-cassiopaea is under attack and makes me wonder if this there is extra pressure now because of the great need for help by Laura and family, meaning all the braking down off these equipment costs money and is really squeezing our pockets tightly and so I was thinking ooooo what better way to get to Laura and co. then to make them loose their house by not getting enough funding.
Or is it effects of the wave? Or are we giving off some whacked electro signals?
I would love to hear if others are having similar problems and what they think is going on.
Thanks Gaia

Re: Experiencing mechanical/electrical problems

While your assessment may be correct, another possibility might be that there's something you need to pay attention to. When stuff like that starts happening with me, I'll try to find out if there's something I'm missing/ignoring with regards to "communication"/listening/speaking, etc. The universe can have an interesting sense of humor sometimes. For what it's worth. :)

Good advice ts, I generally tend to do the same when things get weird like that. While it is possible that the causes are external, they could also be internal as well. A sign of sorts to pay attention to.

Re: Experiencing mechanical/electrical problems

I understand your frustration. I also have a problem with any kind of electrical devices. I seem to drain their enery or confuse it?? I have gone through many cell phones due to either the battery or sometimes they just simply will not work, freeze up? And it really is a good thing that I rarley watch tv because as soon as I enter the room the signal is spotty. I'm not sure why this is and I have looked into it yet even now I am using WIFI and my phone will never keep a steady conection so it takes a while to read, reply or do anything online. I am blessed with major patience. (thankfully). :P. Its kinda funny but I have wondered if the 24hr New york blackout that happend the day I was born, 7.13.77 had anything to do with me??

Re: Experiencing mechanical/electrical problems

Hi GAIA, you are not alone in that department all except for the cell phone. I gave up those a few years ago and have really been pleased to live with out them. :) I had that problem with pagers when those were popular I had to replace them several times too. Shortly after I moved in my current location, every TV in the house quit working one after another and had to be replaced so it was enough to give me a complex.

For me, plug in things like coffee pots, toaster, microwaves, any other kitchen gadget, hair dryers, curling irons, alarm clocks and even fans have never lasted that long in my house. Now I understand things are not made like they were many years ago with quality but after a while it was becoming ridiculous, how many things would just quit working after such a short time. Almost every year around Thanksgiving some appliance in my old house would give out and need replacing so at least I could plan for that in the budget.

And sometimes while I am out walking the dogs... streetlights just go out, which again is not too out of the ordinary BUT when it is 3 or 4 in a row that does this it gets weird... especially if the lights are working again the next evening. Our city maintenance crews are just not that fast in replacing bulbs around here, so I doubt that is it either. Which now brings me to the 3 year old microwave that gave up the ghost a few weeks ago. For me that's a good long run in the plug in world.

That makes so very much sense truth seeker and as hard headed as I was/am at times, it also explains a lot. :)

Hello GAIA,

something similar is happening to me for the last 4 days. It started with my home phone which simply went dead, no signal, replacing the wire and the phone itself didn't help and the operator checked everything and couldn't explain it. It started working again, on it's own, after 2 days. But then my TV remote went dead. I turned on the TV, switch to one channel and after 10 minutes it simply didn't work anymore. I replaced the batteries, checked and restarted the digital receiver few times - nothing. The next morning it worked perfectly. But my daughter's alarm clock didn't work, she asked me why I turned it off, which I didn't. It's programed for the whole week and the clock itself worked fine, but the set alarm was 'erased'. And then, in the evening, the house went black. I checked the main box and one fuse cap melted and stick to the box, I had to scratch it off to be able to replace it. That was last night. Today, when I woke up and tried to go online - there was no signal. None. Dead. I called the net operator - they said all is fine. The signal returned on it's own after half an hour.

It is a bit strange that all this is happening, one thing after another. It is possible that something is messing up with the phone/internet/TV remote signals and even affecting the alarm clock. If that's the case, maybe the same thing is causing some sort of problems with electrical appliances in a way which made fuse to melt? I don't know, but it got my attention.

There's also a big solar storm going on, maybe that can explain some of the issues with electronics? _http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46664100#.T1jnofXjFnA

I will second (or third) this. Could be some flukey electrical thing going on, or maybe the Universe is trying to get your attention. Just goes to show us how dependent we are on our electronics. Take them away and we're screwed. Just a preview of what's coming, I guess.... :/

Thank you Truth Seeker, definitely words of wisdom and I will give myself some time to comtemplate them. In the past I did often think of "accidents and mishaps" as sometimes being signs, this time I just felt it was more a energetically thing. But I'm going to dig to try to get some answers :)

That is interresting but this has been going on for a few weeks so I'm assuming it is something else.

fwiw (being someone who has spent years using/repairing computers/electrical items) there are a few things that I've observed that may be of use. Firstly if you move somewhere new and are having electrical items fail repeatedly, it may be best to have an electrician check the wiring in the house is safe (especially if it is an old house).

I've been through fazes where everything electrical around me would go hay wire/fail (to the point where people didn't like me walking near there computer, as it would crash).....this then seemed to reverse and came in rather handy as IT technical support, most of the time someone would call me over to there computer and repeat the same thing they'd tried 8 times before and it'd work fine this time. Its possible they where doing it wrong before mind you, but it did happen quite regularly.

One thing I had noticed is things stopped going haywire around me so much the more I worked on myself, so it may be worth counting these things as 'high strangeness' and that has faded from my life with EE/psychology work and the detox/dietary changes.

Having said all that, we had a few lightbulbs go every few days in our brand new place a few weeks ago (and lots of plates jumping off the counter the last few days, followed by a near miss for me whilst out driving today). So perhaps its a collective message to pay attention....or just something 'in the air'.
