Russian Passenger Plane Crashes Over Egypt

Moscow (AFP) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the emergency ministry to dispatch rescue teams to Egypt, where a Russian passenger plane with 224 on board crashed Saturday.

"The head of state has given orders to send emergency ministry (teams) to Egypt immediately to work at the plane crash site," a Kremlin statement said.

Putin also ordered the government to launch a special commission "due to the catastrophe of Kogalymavia company plane in Egypt," the statement said.

An emergency ministry meeting shown on Russian television announced that teams of rescue workers along with the emergency minister, Vladimir Puchkov, will fly out to Egypt at 1300 GMT.

Russia's transport minister Maksim Sokolov and the head of Russia's air transport agency Alexander Neradko are also leaving for the site, Russian agencies quoted the ministry's representative as saying.

Russia's Investigative Committee said it had launched a criminal probe into any possible violation of air safety rules, a standard procedure when air crashes involving Russian planes occur. It is also sending investigators to the scene.

Russia's air transport agency Rosaviatsia said that the plane, an Airbus 321, was carrying 217 passengers and seven crew when it disappeared from the radar after taking off for Saint Petersburg from the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

It was operated by Kogalymavia, an airline carrying out charter flights for tourism operators, and operating under the brand Metrojet.

The charter flight booked by Moscow-based tourist firm Brisco, a representative of the firm told AFP.

In Egypt, military planes have spotted the wreckage of the plane in the Sinai peninsula and 45 ambulances have been directed there to evacuate the dead and injured, the government said.

As of now I'm leaning towards something unusual happening there aka. not a normal plane accident.

At 11:56 Sputnik above noted that a flight recorder was found at the crash site.

at 12.20 Egyptian aviation authority denied that a flight recorder was found.

Wow, here they go again.

Interesting that right now Russia 24 interviwed Alexander Fridlyand, professor of the Moscow state technical university of civil aviation and Chief of the Scientific center of economic monitoring, analysis and forecasting mentioned bomb on the plane as a high-probability reason, he also exluded all the "common" reasons.

Search teams have also discovered the jet's black box, which could contain vital flight data to help establish what happened in the moments before the plane began its rapid descent.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of victims of the crashed airliner.

Putin also ordered government ministries to offer immediate assistance to relatives of those killed.

The president declared a national day of mourning to take place on Sunday, November 1.

I was just watching RT news on TV, and the correspondent from Cairo said that the Egyptian forces ministry of defense wouldn't allow their journalists on the site of the crash. Also, there's no survivors.

Yeah, and now RT interviewed aviation studies lecturer in Kingston University, Anil Padhra, who also said that something extraordinary should have happened to the plane to drop like this. According to him, it's rare to get any sort of mechanical problem when reaching cruise height, and that usually problems happen during the climbing period when the engines under the most stress.

That would give some credence to the initial report from Sputnik, that the A321 pilot sent a communication shortly after take off due to technical faults:

From Sputnik

The Russian A321 captain informed air-traffic controller of technical faults after take-off and asked for route change, a source in the Sharm el-Sheikh airport told RIA Novosti.

Still, if they say that the plane suddenly dropped from high altitude, there is likely more to it than just a technical issue.

Also, doesn't matter what is the reason, it is still interesting that this crash happened just 50 km near an Israeli border. And now Israel offered extensive help with transporting the bodies and handing operations there, since it is a closed military zone, full of Bedouins "loyal to ISIS".

Interesting indeed...

If it disappeared from radar screen indeed exactly at 3:21 AM and aircraft being A321 then I think it is certainly not a coincidence, but rather "signature". And on Saturday Hallowe'en? Maybe like a countdown - "you have 3 days (3..2..1) or else (maybe on 11/3 = 33)"...

Know nothing about this News Agency but more than likely it is the typical mainstream reporting from a news wire.

Russian plane crash: More than 200 passengers on flight 7K9268 dead video

Last updated 00:52, November 1 2015

Egyptian military and security officials say there are no survivors from the Russian passenger plane carrying 224 people that crashed into Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

The Airbus A321, operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia, was flying from the Sinai Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to St Petersburg in Russia when it went down in a desolate mountainous area of central Sinai soon after daybreak, the aviation ministry said.

A security officer at the scene told Reuters by telephone that search and rescue teams heard voices in a section of the plane.

However, officials later confirmed that there were no survivors.

"I now see a tragic scene. A lot of dead on the ground and many who died whilst strapped to their seats," one official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"The plane split into two, a small part on the tail end that burned and a larger part that crashed into a rock. We have extracted at least 100 bodies and the rest are still inside."

Adel Mahgoub, chairman of the state company that runs Egypt's civilian airports, said all passengers and crew were Russian citizens.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the New Zealand Embassy in Cairo was liaising with local authorities, but there were "no indications at this stage of any New Zealanders caught up in the incident".

The Russian aviation authority Rosaviatsiya said in a statement that flight 9268 left Sharm el-Sheikh at 06:51 Moscow time (03:51 GMT) and was due into St Petersburg's Pulkovo airport at 12:10.

The authority added that the aircraft failed to make scheduled contact with Cyprus air traffic control 23 minutes after take-off and disappeared from the radar.

The plane went down in a mountainous area in central Sinai and poor weather conditions (1 ) have made it difficult for rescue crews to get to the scene, the officer said. Survivors and bodies of those on board would be flown to Cairo, the security source said.

Russian television showed film of anxious relatives and friends waiting for information at St Petersburg's Pulkovo airport.

CAUSE UNKNOWN

Sinai is the scene of an insurgency by militants who support Islamic State. The rebels have killed hundreds of Egyptian soldiers and police and have also attacked Western targets in recent months.

Russia launched air raids against Syrian opposition groups including Islamic State on Sept. 30. Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Hossam Kemal was quoted in a cabinet statement as saying it was too soon to determine the cause of the crash, but security sources said there was no indication the Airbus had been shot down or blown up.

The A321 is a 185-seat medium-haul jet in service since 1994, with over 1100 in operation worldwide and a good safety record. It is a highly automated aircraft relying on computers to help pilots stay within safe flying limits.

Saturday's crash is the second fatal accident involving this variant of the A320 jetliner family, according to data from the Flight Safety Foundation.

Airbus said it had no independent information on the crash and declined to comment on the aircraft involved.

AIRLINE UNDER FIRE

Within hours, Russia's top Investigative Committee launched a criminal case against the airline, Kogalymavia.

RIA news agency reported that the Investigative Committee's case had been brought under an article regulating "violation of rules of flights and preparations for them".

Interfax reported committee spokesman Vladimir Markin as saying that the case had been brought under Article 263 of the Criminal Code: "Violation of the safety rules for movement and exploitation of air, sea or internal water transport".

Markin also said that a group of investigators and crime experts had been formed and would head to Egypt.

"They will operate in agreement with the competent organs and together with the representatives of the Republic of Egypt in accordance with the norms of national and international law," Markin said, according to Interfax.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared November 1 a national day of mourning, the Kremlin press service said on Saturday.

There has also been this news on Russian SoTT today: apparently three fireballs were witnessed last night in Belarus and Ukraine (all three videos available in the article).

Considering today's Halloween Asteroid passing by the Earth, and also this recent massive Sun flare, these could all be a series of interconnected electric phenomena resulting in two accidents (Egypt and Kamchatka flights).

Israeli trace is also quite symbolic though.

So A321 went off radar 3:21 AM GMT 23 minutes after take off. Quite some coincidence. In three days is 11/3 (countdown?) and there was a picture on the cover of the Economist for this year with arrows. Beside the arrows is a plane. One of them had 11.3 on it:

If true, this would point towards this being a pointed message to Russia.

Of course, even if the Empire didn't 'do' it, needless to say, they'd probably like certain parties to think they - I mean, IS - purposely did it.
