Show #24: Who was Jesus?

What a really great and very interesting show, thanks, Laura and Team! Can't wait to hear/read more about him!

Excellent show, thanks all! How nice to know people with the will of a lion really did exist all that time ago.

I think it was Jason that mentioned reading some of the books JC himself wrote. Does anyone know of any reliable material?

There's usually a very short snippet of classical music that plays after the outro before the broadcast breaks off at its beginning. Right now, though, the whole track has played through several times and keeps going. Did the team forget to end the broadcast proper so that it now keeps going with a "filler"?

EDIT: Guess not - it's uploaded and so must have ended proper, as seen in reopening the page - yet as long as I kept the page open, there was no termination point to the broadcast. I wondered if that might cause a problem, there being a time limit for the show and all.

Laura linked this version on Facebook.

Some people were asking in chat for the titles of the reading Laura recommended.

One of the books about the Jesus Christ/Julius Caesar connection:
Et tu, Judas? Then Fall Jesus!
by Gary Courtney
~15$ for a paperback on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Et-Judas-Then-Fall-Jesus/dp/0595328687
(was there another one or two mentioned? Amazon shows two books related right now; Jesus Was Caesar: On the Julian Origin of Christianity: An Investigative Report by Francesco Carotta, and
Divus Julius by Stefan Weinstock. Weren't these mentioned in the show?)

Also, Laura mentioned the historian whose records began at the same time the eastern roman historians' dropped off. It sounded like she called him "Gregory of Tours"? I found this: http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/gregory-hist.asp
Fits the time period, so I think I've found the right thing...?

Anyway, VERY interesting stuff. A good inoculation for Christian programming, or so it sounds.

"Gallic wars"

Excellent show, I think the big point was made at the end: We can now actually READ what Caesar/Jesus left for us for legacy !!
Thank you all for this !

I agree, fantastic show.

What I wondered, since Caesar was/is more or less shown as bad guy in history, what about the story with Cleopatra, was is it also made up then or twisted?

I guess we are going to have to devote an entire show to Julius Caesar. Then another to how the gospels are about Julius Caesar. Another about the Mythraic Mysteries and how they, too contributed to the mix. And one about the Jewish Rebellion and how it was probably thanks to the close relationship between Julius Caesar and the Jews. Lots of material to cover and it will take several shows to do it justice.

I think it's only fair: a made-up guy named Jesus has been usurping Julius Caesar's rightful place in history for 2000 years. Now it's time for the truth.

Show was great, packed with information and inspiring.
To me this particular show will be remembered as the "back off buddy" one.

Wife and I were talking about the implications of this information yesterday, especially on how world changing this would if disseminated on a global scale especially when one thinks about everything that has been "built" upon this belief in a Jesus Christ as portrayed in the New Testament.

Exciting times ahead...

LOL! Yeah, I've got everybody in the house reading everything we can get our hands on about Caesar, Biblical criticism, etc. And Belibaste has been my right hand researcher through all this, AND writing his own book utilizing some of the research. Getting our hands on a translation of Michael the Syrian was a coup but it was in French. The amount of checking and cross checking of sources that we've had to do is monumental. We are both learning a fair bit of Latin in the process and Belibaste can even read Greek a bit now.

Yup. I think we've found a new mission. We'll be expanding on it because, based on the listener stats, this was our most listened to show so far.

Inquiring minds want to KNOW. And it gives an all-new meaning to "Paleo-Christianity" doesn't it? I guess we'll be adding to our "Statement of Principles" soon.

Great show! Thank you to all involved.

For those interested in reading about Julius Caesar from public domain sources, I found these:

Caesar, Julius. Caesar's Commentaries on the Gallic and Civil Wars: with the Supplementary Books attributed to Hirtius.
Electronic Text Center, University of Virginia Library

Suetonius, The Lives of the Caesars - The Life of Julius Caesar

PS. I also appreciated the chat room help on how to ignore a trolls postings. [right-click on name -> ignore] very useful. Sorry I do not remember your room name, but thanks.

I couldn't agree more. It just doesn't get any better than this. You guys were on fire at the end. Great great show!

Great show! An intriguing idea for sure. I'll be doing some study on Julius Caesar. It may be awhile before I can agree that he is the greatest man in history, but I think it's time to remove the feeding tubes from Jesus.
For me he's been on life support for sometime. Looks like he is not going to recover. :deadhorse:

Anyone could transcribe this session, please?. Try to listen but I missed most of it, and recording in SOTT. there is still much echo. Transcription of this topic so interesting, it would be very convenient for everyone but especially for those whom English is not our first language. Thanks.
