From a more detailed article (17 jan 2023) :

"Nearly every day so far in January, heavy rains have caused a town or city to issue emergency warnings, order evacuations or respond with relief efforts.
...
That follows the 50 killed and more than 50,000 displaced during the holiday season by torrential rains that began Dec. 25 and continued through New Year’s Day."

California Sinking!

ORINDA, Calif. - A landslide continues to threaten a beautiful hillside neighborhood in Orinda as crews work to see what can be done before there’s even more destructive movement. A magnificent house now lies at least thirty feet below where it was and in complete shambles.

A slow-moving landslide that began last Sunday night, now shows a home was literally pulled by gravity, down a hill, at least 30-feet down, doing so much damage, it was red-tagged as totally unsafe for habitation. The neighboring home, belonging to the Sebilia family, who are longtime residents, suffered damage. It was yellow tagged because it is precariously perched above other home's gaping maw.

"Our driveway, I don't know if you've probably noticed, where it's all... that sort of…as of yesterday was sinking down there and they were watching as it moved kind of closer to our house, they said, and it was happening so quickly, they said, 'We don't know how far it's going. So, you can't stay here.’" said Albert Sebilia.

Neighbors are understandably concerned. "I'm totally astonished," said area resident Frank Darling, who also said, "My concern is, if you live on a hill, you could slide with all this rain."

Richard Grant, another neighbor, said this, "For ourselves, we had a good geological survey, the ground lays flat like a card table. I'm sure there are a lot of homes around here that are similar to that one."

"This is a little steeper than ours and we just reinforced our yard with a huge retaining wall, which, you hope helps," said Darling.

If a homeowner can prove that someone or something actually caused this landslide, then that should be a matter for the courts. But, as far as landslide insurance, that is virtually impossible to get.

"There have been other houses that have slightly slid where the town has been liable for it because they passed the approval for the home to be built," said Darling.

East Bay MUD says the slide is unlikely related to a known pre-slide leak and will be part of the investigation.

Auckland International Airport after heavy rains yesterday: :-O

The Auckland airport was flooded on Friday night. People could be seen walking around in almost knee-deep water.

* Auckland Emergency Management is asking people to stay home if possible

* Mayor Wayne Brown said that people should follow emergency directions: "We need the rain to stop, that's the main issue"

* Sir Elton John's Friday night concert at Mt Smart, expected to draw 40,000 people, was cancelled

* Only call 111 if your life is in danger, FENZ warns
A person has died after torrential rain lashed Auckland and the upper North Island, triggering a state of emergency in the region.
“When the rain hit, it hit very hard and very fast ... Aucklanders need to brace for the fact there could be more rain,” he said. “This is quite unprecedented.”

No traffic

There is indeed no airplane traffic going on at the Auckland Airport as I just checked (20.00 European Central time 27 Jan 2023)
The image above, Vulcan59, is a fascinating one, seeing the entrance hall flooded like that... Mama mia. The number of the cancellation (index) might be wrong. I haven't seen anything landing there at all. There is only one flight registered standing on the ground; a DHL cargo plane.

The king tides will be contributing to the problem in Auckland. I grew up and lived most of my life there and recall King tides flooding patches of some of the motorways even without any extra rain.
So the population of Auckland is very vulnerable to effects from all sorts of disasters due to the narrow strip of land occupied by 1.67 million people. It’s hard to leave in a hurry and very easy to place a military border around it as the government did for four months during the scamdemic.

LANDSLIDE: Missing reported after landslide in Ecuador

A landslide of great proportions registered in the city of Alausí, in the province of Chimborazo, in central Andean Ecuador, buried this Sunday several residences, with an undetermined number of people trapped, official sources informed.

Firemen, military and civilians immediately went to the disaster area, in the Nuevo Alausí neighborhood, and began to carry out rescue tasks, which were difficult due to the fact that the mishap occurred at night.

The government of Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso informed that he ordered the immediate activation of the Secretariat of Risk Management and all the State's portfolios.

🇸🇦 #Saudi Arabia Footage of flooded streets of Mecca.

About two years ago, a system of "artificial rains" was launched there. Then, a week later, the first major flood occurred due to heavy rains. 😯

I personally doubt that the main cause is artificial system, in a desert, for god’s sake...💁‍♂️
