I hear this song couple of times a week on a classic raido channel. It is such a beautiful song that now I have it on MP3. I sometimes listen to on a way to/from work.

Time To Say Goodbye (Con te partirè)

The anomaly of listening to, and enjoying, a christian rock song can be explained by the fact that when I replace the static God concept with what I feel as "Higher-than-me Source", it takes on a whole 'nother level of inspiration!

One Christian rock band I listen to with similar reasoning is Needtobreathe.

Thanks for that, Nuke. How 'bout this:

I wonder if, in this case, the River can be the Cassiopaean Experiment?

At the very least, I interpret this song as an interaction with Wild, Untamed, Unbounded, Radical Aliveness as 'River':

(Fill my cup with liquid objectivity...)

Me:

"My restless heart
led me astray.
To my selfish pride,
I became my own slave.
But, you placed a thirst in me,
with no drink in sight;
'cause I could not see,
'till I saw through Your eyes."

You say:

"Come to the river,
oh, and lay yourself down.
Let your heart be found.

Come to the river;
drink from the cup I pour,
and thirst no more."

1:14 to 2:10

The Avett Brothers – The Perfect Space

I wanna have friends that I can trust,
that love me for the man I’ve become not the man I was.
I wanna have friends that will let me be
all alone when being alone is all that I need.

I wanna fit in to the perfect space,
feel natural and safe in a volatile place.
And I wanna grow old without the pain,
give my body back to the earth and not complain.
Will you understand when I am too old of a man?
And will you forget when we have paid our debt
who did we borrow from? Who did we borrow from?

Okay part two now clear the house.
The party’s over take the shouting and the people,
get out!

I have some business and a promise that I have to hold to.
I do not care what you assume or what the people told you.
Will you understand, when I am too old of a man?
Will you forget when we have paid our debts,
who did we borrow from? Who did borrow from?

I wanna have pride like my mother has,
And not like the kind in the bible that turns you bad.
And I wanna have friends that I can trust,
that love me for the man I’ve become and not the man that I was.

Great band. The women's voices, the music and lyrics are amazing! Thank you, Niall :) Real first aid kit :) I enjoyed very much.

I just discovered a pianist Solomon Cutner (on youtube you can find him by the name of Solomon). What he does, I find simply amazing.

Solomon "Piano Concerto No. 23 A Major" Mozart (1. Mov.)

He's rendition of Beethoven 'Tempest' Op.31/2 it's was surprising, to say the least, it had a physical effect on me. Yeah, like I was in the middle of the tempest. I've never heard anyone play it like this before.

When I was young my Dad used to play a CD by an artist called Lucky Dube during car journeys. At the time, I wasn't a big fan as it wasn't exactly mainstream but now I think his songs had a lot of meaning.

Below are some of my favourite by him

Lucky Dube - Money Money Money

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwPSvEg1qLo

Lucky Dube-I'm a Prisoner

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bjgVGuSQo

Lucky Dube - Is This Freedom

Lucky Dube - Soul Taker

His life was sadly cut short but his music was quite something else. Not many artists sing about such kind of subjects nowadays.

His songs are kind of, I don't know how to put, deeply insightful in that what he was talking about then is still reverberating today.

Check out some of the lyrics:

Is this Freedom said:
She got outside one morning
To see what' s going on
'Cause she heard all the noises
In the night, It' s a celebration
Even though she was old and grey
It didn' t mean she was deaf and dumb
She looks one look at the man
Throws her hands in the air
And said God help us all
Too much power in one mans hands
Is dangerous
She has never tasted freedom
And all the things
We take for granted
Then she looked at me and said
Son, Is this the end of our suffering?

Chorus:

Is this freedom?
Is this freedom?
We have just witnessed the
Change of power from one fool
And liar to another

Our lives on the line again
She had lived through the wars
She didn' t wanna go through it all again
She has seen injustice
She has seen corruption
She has seen racism
And any other kind of suffering
You can think about
Then she said to me
Son, Is this the end of suffering?
Chorus till fade

Obama anyone? The political merry-go-round?

Also listening to some other songs a long the same line (south africa apartheid based) and one thing that has captured me is the power of music to really move people. Check this out, this song just makes you want to do something meaningful. It kind of shows why the PTB are scared of people getting together in any meaningful way because something could reverberate through them that will threaten their grip on power. This plus the speech plus the movements etc is kind of terrifying.

This one, I don't even know what they are saying but you can just feel there pain, struggle, hope and defiance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm1L0MHyBsc

It just makes it appear like today, we've kind of given up and lost a bit of that spirit these songs are trying to get through.

There is an episode from the TV series scrubs which is a complete musical. I liked it very much because of the storyline and the fact that the actors are also good singers.

As a sidenote, the patient is played by Stephanie D'Abruzzo who was a former puppeteer and also worked at the sesame street, but then moved to the broadway. With this voice, a wise decision.

If you like the violin: David Garrett, Viva la vida.
