What are you listening to?

Found this site a couple of months back on stumble upon, worked out how to play it tonight.

Not sure if promoting a site that is encouraging sleep, somnambulism and named sleepbot is such a good thing but I find ambient music in the background rather pleasant. Really good variety and the guy who runs it pays the royalties.

Jeff Buckley - New Year's Prayer

_http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_7X3FoDYIw

Oooooo, Fall in light, fall in light. Fall in light, fall in light
Feel no shame for what you are (x5)
As you now are in your blood
Fall in light

Feel no shame for what you are
Feel no shame for what you are
Feel it as a water fall
Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light
Grow in light

Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Past the sound within the sound
Past the voice within the voice

Leave your office
Run past your funeral
Leave your home, car
Leave your pulpit
Join us in the streets where we
Join us in the streets where we
Don’t belong, don’t belong
You and the stars
Throwing light

Ooooooh
Fall, fall
Ooooooh
Fall in light, fall in light. fall in light
Oooooh
Fall in light, fall in light fall in light
Grow in light

White Lion - Transformers Theme

Transformers

Something evil's watching over you
Comin' from the sky above
And there's nothing you can do

Prepare to strike
There'll be no place to run
When your caught within the grip
Of the evil Unicron

Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Robots in Disguise

Strong enough to break the bravest heart
So we have to pull together
We can't stay worlds apart

To stand divided we will surely fall
Until our darkest hour
When the light will save us all

Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Robots in Disguise
Transformers

Autobots wage their Battle
To destroy the evil forces
Of the Decepticons

It's judgment day and now we've made our stand
And for now the powers of darkness
Have been driven from our land

The Battle's over but the war has just begun
And this way it will remain til the day when all are one

OOohhhh yeeeaahh, Transformers, gotta love em.

Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb-Nacm-pKc

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone

A soul in tension thats learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i

Friction lock - set.
Mixture - rich
Propellers - fully forward
Flaps - set - 10 degrees
Engine gauges and suction - check

Mixture set to maximum percent - recheck
Flight instruments...
Altimeters - check both
(garbled word) - on
Navigation lights - on
Strobes - on
(to tower): confirm 3-8-echo ready for departure
(tower): hello again, this is now 129.4
(to tower): 129.4. its to go.
(tower): you may commence your takeoff, winds over 10 knots.
(to tower): 3-8-echo
Easy on the brakes. take it easy. its gonna roll this time.
Just hand the power gradually, and it...

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

Theres no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i

Bat For Lashes - Daniel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8khIEtd5ANs&feature=related

Daniel, when I first saw you
I knew that you had a flame in your heart
And under under our blue skies
Marble movie skies
I found a home in your eyes
We'll never be apart

And when the fires came
The smell of cinders and rain
Perfumed almost everything
We laughed and laughed and laughed
And in the golden blue
Crying took me to the darkest place
And you have set fire to my heart

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

But in a goodbye bed
With my arms around your neck
Into our love the tears crept
Just catch in the eye of the storm
And as my heart ran round
My dreams pulled me from the ground
Forever to search for the flame
For home again
For home again

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

When I run in the dark
Daniel
To a place that's worst
Under a sheet of rain in my heart
Daniel
I dream of home

A song to Laura, Ark, the members on this forum and the C's....(As I was typing the previous words it started raining golf ball sized hail.)

[Edit: This song caused me to cry, especially this part, "And your voice came out of nowhere, Be my friend and give me your hand."]

Something in me was dying - Keane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjjoHCsrP40

Something in me was dying
And my heart was heavy as stone
Hard as i was trying
I never could find, find my way home

And your voice came out of nowhere
Be my friend and give me your hand
Let's take off together
And then we can live wherever we land

Something in me was broken
And my thoughts were bitter and ill
My world was blown open
And I couldn’t see and i couldn’t feel
You said be yourself and think of me
And you'll know there's nothing to fear
Let's make plans together
It's time to move on and get out of here

Girl i need you
Don’t know what I would do
Will you see the story through
It's a cruel world
And I need somewhere to hide
But time goes by
And your still on my side

Something in me was sinking
Cause my heart was heavy as stone
I gave up with thinking
I never would find, find my way home
And your voice came out of nowhere
Be my friend and give me your hand
Let's take off together
And then we can live wherever we land

Girl i need you
Don’t know what i would do
Will you see the story through
It's a cruel world
And i need somewhere to hide
The time goes by and your still on my side

Waiting
Searching
Turning over
Running round in circles
And i've worn myself out
Hoping that we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together
yeah we'll always be together

Rush - Nobody's Hero _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_fH3HdxdkM

I knew he was different, in his sexuality
I went to his parties, as the straight minority
It never seemed a threat to my masculinity
He only introduced me to a wider reality

As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that he was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But he's nobody's--

Hero--saves a drowning child
Cures a wasting disease
Hero--lands the crippled airplane
Solves great mysteries

Hero--not the handsome actor
Who plays a hero's role
Hero--not the glamor girl
Who'd love to sell her soul
If anybody's buying
Nobody's hero

I didn't know the girl, but I knew her family
All their lives were shattered
in a nightmare of brutality
They try to carry on, try to bear the agony
Try to hold some faith
in the goodness of humanity

As the years went by, we drifted apart
When I heard that she was gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart
But she's nobody's--

Hero--is the voice of reason
Against the howling mob
Hero--is the pride of purpose
In the unrewarding job

Hero--not the champion player
Who plays the perfect game
Not the glamor boy
Who loves to sell his name
Everybody's buying
Nobody's hero

As the years went by we drifted apart
When I heard that you were gone
I felt a shadow cross my heart

What You Thought You Need - Jack Johnson

link to mp3

Well I can't give you everything you want
But I could give you what you thought you need.
A map to keep beneath your seat
you'll read to me, in time I'll get you there.
But fold it up so we don't find
our way back soon, nobody knows we're here

We can park the van and walk to town
Find the cheapest bottle of wine that we could find
And talk about the road behind,

how getting lost is not a waste of time.
Le Bois D'amour will take us home
in the moment, we will sing as the forest sleeps.

It's all for the sake of arriving with you
Well it's all for the sake of arriving with you

Well I will make the table into a bed
The candle is burning down, its time to rest.
I can't take back things already gone

But I could give you promises for keeps.
And I would only take them back
if they become your own and you give them to me

And it's all for the sake of arriving with you.
Well it's all for the sake of arriving with you.

We could make this into anything
We could make this into more than words we speak.
This could make us into anything
It could make us grow and become what we'll be.

Hmmmmmmmmm
How will we really know?
It's just like it feels...
is just like it feels.
Hmmmmmmmmmm
How will we really know?
It's just like it feels
(repeats)
It's just like it feels.

Questions - Jack Johnson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7IUgCEsZYc

Questions, I've got some questions
I want to know you

But what if I could ask you only one thing
Only this one time, what would you tell me?
Well maybe you could give me a suggestion
So I could know you, what would you tell me?

Maybe you could tell me what to ask you
Because then I'd know you, what would you tell me
Please tell me that there's time
To make this work for all intents and purposes
And what are your intentions, will you try?

Impressions, you've made impressions
They're going nowhere

They're just going to wait here if you let them
Please don't let them
I want to know you

And if they're going to haunt me
Please collect them
Please just collect them
And now I'm begging

I'm begging you to ask me just one question
One simple question
Because then you'd know me

I'll tell you that there's time
To make this work for all intents and purposes
At least for my own

What is a heart worth if it's just left all alone?
Leave it long enough and watch it turn into stone
Why must we always be untrue?

I've been doing my taxes over the past three days. A entire filing cabinet shelf reduced to two neat piles and a archive box!

Georges song......funny I got "A Hard Day's Night" T-shirt at a 5 cent store today too. Although I think this may be off Revolver.

Taxman

Let me tell you how it will be,
There’s one for you, nineteen for me,
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don’t take it all.
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah yeah, I’m the Taxman.

(If you drive a car car), I’ll tax the street,
(If you try to sit sit), I’ll tax your seat,
(If you get too cold cold), I’ll tax the heat,
(If you take a walk walk), I’ll tax your feet.
Taxman.

‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
Don’t ask me what I want it for
(Ah Ah! Mister Wilson!)
If you don’t want to pay some more
(Ah Ah! Mister Heath!),
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeeeah, I’m the Taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (Taxman!)
Declare the pennies on your eyes, (Taxman!)
‘Cos I’m the Taxman,
Yeah, I’m the Taxman.
And you’re working for no-one but me,
(Taxman).

With a 3 years delay, Dixie Chicks 'Shut up and Sing' documentary finally arrived in Italy!

Great to see these three women growing stronger and stronger in face of enormous difficulties, a death threat and emotional struggles, facing almost all the country music. They live for music and their band is like a big family. Reminds me a bit David Gilmour, and his ability to find the right kind of musicians to play with him after all what happened inside Pink Floyd, to form a special group of people indeed. You may check 'David Gilmour - Remember that Night - Live at the Royal Albert Hall' double DVD.

Directors, Barbara Kopple and Cecilia Peck did a great job too, not to mention DC's manager, very supportive.

Thanks again, Dixie Chicks!

To remember those days, this song sums up all their struggle:

Dixie Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting

I'm through with doubt
There's nothing left for me to figure out
I've paid a price
And I'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I know you said
Can't you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind sayin'
It's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting

[I've been listening to this song basically on repeat for the last couple of days while thinking about the need for balance in my life (especially in regards to emotions and the need to think about others and not myself in the things that I do). I thought I would share it with you all.]

Perfect Symmetry - Keane said:
Perfect Symmetry - Keane

link to mp3

I sift through the wreckage for signs of life
Scrolling through the paragraphs
Clicking through the photographs

I wish I could make sense of what we do
Burning down the capitals
The wisest of the animals

Who are you? What are you living for?
Tooth for tooth maybe will go one more

This life is lived in perfect symmetry
What I do, that will be done to me.

Read page after page of analysis.
Looking for the final score
We're no closer than we were before

Who are you? What are you fighting for?
Holy truth, brother I choose this mortal life.

Lived in perfect symmetry
What I do, that will be done to me.
As the needle slips into the run-out groove.
Love, maybe you'll feel it to.

And maybe you'll find life is unkind and over so soon.
There is no golden gate, there's no heaven waiting for you

Oh boy you outta leave this town.
Get out while you can the meter's running down
The voices in the street you loved
Everything is better when you hear that shout: Woooaohhh,
Woooaohhh, Woooaohhh

Spineless dreamers hide in churches.
Pieces of pieces of rush hour buses
I dream in e-mails
Worn-out phrases
Mile after mile of just empty pages

Wrap yourself around me
Wrap yourself around me
As the needle slips into the run-out groove.
Maybe I'll feel it too
Maybe you'll feel it too.
Maybe you'll feel it too.
Maybe you'll feel it too.

I dream in emails, worn out phrases
Mile after mile of just empty pages

I was just let go from my job today which was unexpected. I must have let my guard down and wasn't as vigilant as I could have been while attempting to "always anticipate attack". Would you mind saying a prayer for me as I try to find a job suitable for increasing my understanding of lessons yet learned? I would really appreciate it.

Here are a few of the songs that I'm currently listening to as I continue to musically order my life amidst the chaos.

Mediocre Bad Guys - Jack Johnson

link to song

Well don't give me no comic book sad looks no more
please don't use those same excuses you've used before
you told yourself so many times its ok
so eager to try but you just don't know how to come back down

and now you'll beat me up and break me down
hoping I don't come around
kick me when I'm on the ground
beat me up and break me down
hoping I don't come around
kick me when I'm on the ground

well how about those people
I know that you know the ones that i mean
not so good, not so bad, only know what they have
and they have only what they've seen
them mediocre bad guys can really bring you down
they cant be defeated
you know that their never gonna come around

they just beat me up and break me down
hoping I don't come around
kick me when I'm on the ground
beat me up and break me down
hoping I don't come around
kick me when I'm on the ground

Staple it Together - Jack Johnson

link to song (third link down from the top)

It's really too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed the moment in the back with the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he got to do
It's really no good
He's moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he's been because he forgot to look

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3) (mmHmm)

Well I guess you could say
That he don't even know where to begin
Because he looked both ways but he was so afraid
Digging deep into the ditch every chance he missed
And the mess he made
Because hate is such a strong word
And every brick he laid a mistake they say
That his walls are getting taller, and his world is getting smaller

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3) (mmHmm)

It's really too bad
He became a prisoner of his own past
He stabbed the moment in the back with the round thumbtack
That held up the list of things he got to do
It's really no good
He's moving on before he understood
He shot the future in the foot with every step he took
From the places that he’s been cause he forgot to look

He better staple it together and call it bad weather
Staple it together and call it bad weather (X3)

If the weather gets better we should get together
Spend a little time or we could do whatever
And if we get together we'd be twice as clever
So staple it together and call it bad weather... (mmHmm)

Upside Down - Jack Johnson

link to song

Who's to say
What's impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There's no stopping curiosity

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
I don't want this feeling to go away

Who's to say
I can't do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren't always just what they seem

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
This world keeps spinning and there's no time to waste
Well it all keeps spinning spinning round and round and

Upside down
Who's to say what's impossible and can't be found
I don't want this feeling to go away

Please don't go away
Please don't go away
Please don't go away
Is this how it's supposed to be
Is this how it's supposed to be
