Central Texas - Yes, it has been a wet May and cooler than usual (a nice break not having to turn on the A/C in May).

We had intermittent thunderstorms yesterday and last night. But, it did not seem so bad here in my small town.

When I got on the internet today, I saw this article - "Public safety curfew issued in San Marcos and Wimberley" (http://www.kvue.com/story/news/local/2015/05/24/public-safety-curfew-issued-in-san-marcos-and-wimberley/27882675/).

I saw this about the curfew as well. I have never seen this happen before. !0 inches so suddenly in Blanco is extreme, but a curfew? Take care FireShadow.

10 inches all at once is a LOT indeed! We go from drought to flood - Texas is a land of extremes! At least our house is on a "pier & beam" type foundation and sits several feet up off the ground. But, we are on a flood plain, so if things get too wet, that may not be enough. I guess we will see what we will see.

Take care as well, Horseofadifferentcolor!

This latest round today in central Texas was incredible! We had tornadoes dropping out of the sky everywhere. We had to take cover several times. We had a spinning system go right over us but thankfully it did not drop. There were so many tornadoes that the live news anchors were having trouble keeping up for all the different towns being effected. We have a rushing river down at the bottom of our hill. After the main threat of tornadoes left then the next round brought some really bad lightening that was just as scary as the tornadoes. I had a dream last night about six tornadoes coming over the ridge so I was already kind of worked up about this morning. When we were in the middle of it I was really really scared. Lots of water rescues going on.

We had the local siren go off for a few minutes here. Strong rain, gusts of wind, but not as bad as last week. The weather is breaking records, as usual, but not for my area right now.

With all this rain the ground will be shifting a lot. I wonder if we will have a rash of sinkholes. The house already seems to be sagging slightly differently than before.

Wow! I am feeling fortunate. We got a lot of heavy rain, and some lightning, but not too much else. I think I was on the bottom edge of that storm, so the worst passed to the north and west of me. I am glad to hear you guys made it through safely.

Since this Sunday, its a quite a chilly here in Macedonia. This big storm that is all over the Balkan and Europe have skip us here but we can still feel it. The unusually cold weather for this part of the year. Heavy clouds like its a middle of the autumn , not just like the late spring. In the morning its about 8-9 Degrees and during the day its not rising too much.

It's very cold for the season here in Belgium, in a few weeks it's summer ! It's around 6 or 8 C degrees on the morning with an occasional peak at 20 C degrees on the afternoon but it's always cloudy with lots of wind, it often rains so the temperature drops as fast.
Normally at this time of the year we should be able to eat outside and enjoy the garden but the opportunity is rare.
Sandals, shorts and light dresses become unnecessary things in recent years in this part of the world. :(

Here is a short clip of all those tornadoes touching down in central Texas, showing how many at once there was. This does not include what was going on in the rest of the state at the same time. It was insane seeing all those coming down in a small span of time. Thank goodness they were all small. Still many lost their homes and lives. Some really very sad stories coming out.

Houston got pounded again early this morning. Aleana, I hope your family is o.k. Things are looking pretty bad down there.

We got more rain last night and were forecasted to be dry. Some reports are saying we will have a dry spell for at least a few days, but yet we have 40% chance of pop up thunderstorms. This weekend is supposed to resume heavy storms.

I was watching the radar last night and reading national and international weather damage reports and it really became clear to me on how bad it would be if this keeps up. So many cities being devastated. Emergency services and supplies would only go so far and it would not take long at all before all social and cities infrastructures would be devastated.

With drought and sinkholes eating water on one end, at the other how much rain over how long would it take for inland seas to form?

Yeah, Texas really is getting pummeled, much worse than usual, even for Texas. So far everyone I know is Ok. My sister was at home for the past few days - they closed the libraries since it was too dangerous for people to get out. Watched a drone video taken near downtown around Buffalo Bayou and it looks like a huge lake. See _http://abc13.com/weather/drone-video-shows-massive-flooding-in-houston/79120/

I have seen the bayous overflow many times, but this was just jaw-dropping. Also saw where a tornado had touched down just a block from where I used to live in Irving - so glad I am no longer there as that is also where all the earthquakes have been happening as well.

Hope you guys get a break from this weather soon - the constant tension and uncertainty must be really stressful. :hug2:

All the major channels and news networks are carrying footage of the damaging floods and destruction in Texas. From reports, it sounds like the same storm system is heading for Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls, then onto Detroit and Cleveland, Ohio. Part of that storm system will be effecting Burlington and Albany, New York in a day or two.

To all our Members and Families in these area's, I wish you safety and that you will be able to weather these storms, without any loss.

I hope that "all" have an extra food supply and First Aid Kit, in case Emergency Services are disrupted.

I just came in from shoveling mud to check the radar because it got dark out side. We are o.k. for now I guess. Radar is clear, but it was also clear around one o'clock today and a sudden storm hit Blanco again with several inches of rain and four tornadoes touching down. The damage reports have not been released yet. That is one really frustrating thing is not knowing what all has happened until a day later. The storm chasers still have soooo much data to go over they can not keep up. I did not even find out until Sunday that we had a tornado go over us on Saturday. I wondered why I got so many calls the next day asking if we were alright. I am getting a bit frazzled. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

Now I understand the saying to always wear clean undies :P

Hope our north Texas members check in soon.
