Today there was some unusual weather in outback New South Wales, as a Tornado descended on the town of Dubbo:

This kind of weather is highly unusual, in this location.

The keyword for this years UK meteorologists is still: 'unsettled', it's catchier than "We don't know", even more so with this weekends 'storms' predicted. The warm air from mainland Europe is apparently clashing with the northerly cold winds with thunder and lightning expected later today around the UK.

Storms, as predicted, were spread over the UK this weekend. After an pleasant morning and afternoon the storms hit; we had a few bursts of rain with thunder and lightning Saturday - nothing too dramatic, Sunday was similar, but following it through to today, people are saying Autumn is here!

Today has been pleasant at 16-18C (a bit cold considering, wind is too) with 70% cloud cover.

It's been a weekend of stormy weather in the two counties. This incredible image was taken by Matthew Gibbs over Clifton-upon-Teme. Did you capture any photos of the storms you'd like to share?

In addition, the BBC have 'opened up their weather service to competition' after a lifetime of using MetWeather:
The Met Office has lost its BBC weather forecasting contract, it has confirmed.

The UK's weather service has provided the data used for BBC forecasts since the corporation's first radio weather bulletin on 14 November 1922.

The BBC said it was legally required to secure the best value for money for licence fee payers and would tender the contract to outside competition. [knowing the BBC as the government propaganda arm and financial blackhole/extortion racket that it is, this is hilarious]

Considering how 'unsettled' it's been, and therefore, inaccurate) they've been, the timing is interesting.

That's quite impressive, it looks almost surreal. :O

Here in Luxembourg the sky was clear and we had a couple days of warm weather over the weekend, close to 30C, before a short thunderstorm caused the temperature to drop by 10 degrees celsius. Lately, the weather has been very unstable, changing every few days. In the past, the weather used to be more continental but during the last years it has changed to a more coastal climate. It actually reminds me of when I used to live in the UK.

Really impressing photo, Itellsya! Wow!

Here in Vienna, Austria temperatures have lowered since last Sunday. We have about 24-28 degrees C with sunny weather
And strange enough there is another heatwave coming - at least the forecast ist about 30 ° C. Which again is very unusual for the beginning of September.

We definetely had one of the very hottest summer since a very long time!

I enclose a graphic that shows the temperatures from beginning of June - this place is outside the City of Vienna so you have to add app. 3-5 degrees more for the inner city.

Itellsia, this photo is scary threatening leg looks like that ahead of the village, a ram's head left and right a clown who has fun ...
In France French Riviera sun returned with its blue sky, 19 degrees this morning at 6.30am but we expect 26/28 ° this afternoon ...

The Washington and Oregon state large fires - see map http://gacc.nifc.gov/nwcc/information/firemap.aspx , along with the influencing SE air flow, has smothered BC and Alberta Canada in dense smoke. This smoke rolled in last week, and at times has reduces viability to a mere 1000 meters (generally 2000 meters is all that can be seen). A NW air flow would be very appreciated!

This is not a good sign for this region...

Yay pestilence!

If ice ages can begin almost overnight...what about "Plague Time"? Like a flipped switch / unmasking of what's been 'backbuilding' (← tornado-speak).

After a few hot days, very black sky in the West... big storm coming they say.

Recently there were large rain and wind storms where I live. The power went out in many towns in the area. I was staying at a friend's house in a rural area, and for 2 days had no power. It was very interesting to experience having no computers, phones, or even ovens. We were lucky to have a gas barbecue for camping. It was foreboding too, how dark and cool everything became at night. It felt like a not-so-subtle wakeup call to me about getting a house with a wood-burning option in it. Or at least a generator. :/

For the last week I have been in the North East of UK on the coast and have enjoyed a week of sunshine every day, to my surprise, sometimes a cool wind but not unbearable., but today (being a public holiday) we started the day with rain, which cleared for most of the day and just drizzled now and again.

We had a pretty strong storm yesterday in the Netherlands. Some areas were flooded, a historic mill was completely burned down after a lightning strike, and in some places there was hail as big as tennis balls!
