What's the weather where you are?

The weather here changed two days ago, from 3 months of hot summer weather to much cooler autumn like weather. The change took place with a massive thunder and lightning storm with just under 10000 lightning strikes. One of those must have been very close as it woke everybody up in the house with a jolt. It was accompanied by rain and the smell of moisture in the air is a nice change. This morning it was just 8 C.

It has cooled down here in London too. No thunderstorms but the temperature has been the lowest in the past 2 months. The weather started playing up around 2 weeks ago and today was a very rainy day. I was waiting for it to stop until 2pm but I eventually gave up and went shopping in my wellies. It was around 18 degrees and I already miss the heat!

This summer was absolutely amazing, the first proper summer since I arrived here 9 years ago, with temperatures constantly reaching 28-33 Celsius (82-92 F). There were only a couple of days when the temperature dropped to 23-25 C (73-77 F).

It's interesting that places which normally get lots of summertime sunshine were cooler this year, the summer must have relocated over here!

As said, last Sunday we were back to smoke. Sunday night passed with a refreshing overnight rain that cleared out the smoke again and also put the kibosh on the local fires at least - they are pretty much done for the year, with more rain since.

By Monday afternoon when the sky's opened up, the mountains had much more than a dusting of new snow (so August 26/27 overnigt with snow down to about 1800 meters - see this from Alberta which had less). There had also been significant snow July 2nd as posted. Here, even through with the biggest heat periods between those dates (with all the wildfires), there was hardly a night that was not somewhat cool for the season.

We have headed to Glastonbury for a short camping trip and it is warm again in this part of the UK, a little heatwave with temperatures of up to 25 degrees Celsius. It is dry, with a slight breeze and partial clouds.

For a few weeks in August, it was mostly rain in Wales and England with a few sun-less dry spells and cold evenings that signalled autumn and winter was upon us. Let's see how long the sun will stick around for this time! :-D

In the Netherlands it's official now on the last day of the meteorological summer that we've had an extraordinary summertime this year. Two consecutive heat waves (with only one day in between) and a severe drought made this summer the absolute warmest ever recorded with less than half of the average rainfall. There have been 60 days in a row with temperatures above 20° C.

Well, it was 13 C / 55 F this morning and I don't think it got over 25 C / 75 F all day. Feels more like October. And, if that is the case, what is October going to feel like?

Today it was in southern Germany pretty much like autumn. Rainy, very dark and more fresh.

Well, it is 10 C / 50 F this morning... quite chilly!

Yesterday, it was very sunny and warmish, but there was a northerly flow of air that kept the temp down.

Warm and sunny in Macedonia last few days. Maybe even too hot. Temperatures go up to 30-32C during the day and 13-16 in the early morning. But all this can change overnight.

It really does look like the summer decided to relocate to London for a change :-) Between mid June and beginning of August the weather was gorgeous (well, at least in my opinion, some complained about the intensity of the heatwave). The temperatures were consistently high and the heat felt drier than usual. There was also very little rain during those weeks. August had a bit of a mixed weather and temperatures continue to fluctuate up and down. Last week was very rainy but this weekend has been very sunny here in London with 24 C / 75 F and gorgeously cloudless sky.

Last winter was really severe here though and both the freezing temperatures in winter and the scorching heat in the summer reminded me of the weather back home in Central Europe. Which I don't find enjoyable becuase I much prefer mild temperatures here to the extremes back home.

Cool here in the Mid North coast of NSW, Australia with top temps today of 16C / 61F and a little windy. Yesterday was warm 21C / 70F and forecast is for rain and cooler temps. It’s officially Spring, but it doesn’t quite feel like it yet (by Aussie standards ) :-)

Seal Beach, California: 76 degrees and sunny. Humidity 59%. Light breeze SSW.

And not a single drop of rain all year. It’s definitely cooler than normal these last few years, but last year we had wonderful rain like I remember from childhood. This return to drought conditions is depressing. I had such high hopes.

At least it’s not 100 outside, I suppose.

In the Netherlands, other heat records are bound to be broken this week.

Up to and including Thursday, the record number of official warm days is expected to climb to 120, according to the weather service. Which means that the 116 warm days record from 2003 will be broken. An official warm day is when temperatures climb to over 20 degrees at the national weather station in De Bilt.

The record for summer days (above 25 Celsius) is also likely to be broken -- for a second time.
The number of official summer days may increase to 56. The record for official summer days was already broken on August 21st, the 52nd summer day of the year. The old record dated from 2006, when there were 51 days with maximums above 25 degrees in De Bilt.

Same here in Macedonia. Unusually warm weather for this part of the year and also very dry. Without any rain in the last 3-4 weeks.
Temperatures go up to 25-28 C during the day and early in the morning can go from 10-14C.
