What's the weather where you are?

We are being blessed with a beautiful weather with lots of sunshine and relative warmth up to 13 °C (in shadow) during the day for about a week now. Snow fell only three times since my last report, highest fall was one inch, even that melted quickly weeks ago.

We're having similar weather here in Belgium: we've recently had days over 10 °C. These last few days have been a bit colder (5 °C) but very sunny. Since the beginning of winter, we've had two days of snow and both times, it was gone by the end of the day.
So far, it's definitely been a warm winter.

Istria (Croatia), colder in the morning, but during the day warm 13 degrees, the plants start to bud ... fickle month of February

4 of the 5 Great Lakes about to freeze over
Anthony Watts / 5 hours ago February 19, 2015

It is an unusual event for 3 of the lakes to freeze over, which only happens once every 6 to 8 years. Four or more freezing is a most unusual event.

It's 6:20 am and we are at 33 degrees here in Kissimmee , Florida. We do expect a warm up all the way to 50 by the afternoon and 80's by Sunday.

Naples, Florida set a new record this morning at 37 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind chill is making it feel colder. The high for today will be 63F.

Pretty chilly for Southwest Florida.

Location 35N , 92W.

8am and while its overcast @ 26 F, no sign of the "Winter Weather Advisory" that said snow and ice starts at 2AM and continues until 6PM.

I see the radar map shows some of it has already passed us, but nothing was left on the ground...it did snow here last night.

I don't think that the weather reporting is accurate....lol...I even think they under/over report temperatures, as I have been outside with a thermometer on days when the weather channel said it was 36 F, my thermometer says 48 f ???

Oh well, looking forward to my bone broth, today.
:cool2:

And according to Weather Channel, the Niagara Falls are more frozen than last year.

Here is a brief snip (Feb 20) from AP on CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/great-lakes-ice-cover-reaches-81-in-bitter-cold-1.2965698

Headline: Great Lakes ice cover reaches 81% in bitter cold
Lakes Superior, Huron and Erie hardest hit so far

It also started freezing November 24, 2014 this season, which was record breaking (40 years of stats).

For the second consecutive winter, bitter weather threatens to turn the surface of the Great Lakes into a vast, frozen plain.

Nearly 81 per cent of the lakes' surface area was covered with ice, the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory reported Friday. That was down slightly from more than 85 per cent the previous day — a glitch that probably happened because strong winds broke apart some ice and created open spots detected by satellites, said George Leshkevich, a physical scientist with the lab in Ann Arbor.

But with forecasts calling for frigid weather at least through the end of the month, the ice cover may keep expanding, he said. It's grown rapidly as temperatures have plunged this month, nearly doubling over the past couple of weeks.

Records show the lakes' most widespread freeze was 94.7 per cent in 1979. The ice cover topped out at 92.2 per cent last March.

Significant portions of the lakes typically froze over decades ago, Leshkevich said, but the frequency of severe winters has declined since the late 1990s.

"Two almost record-setting years back to back would be very unusual," he said.

One likely explanation for the rapid buildup this month is that 2014's freeze lasted so long — Lake Superior wasn't completely ice-free until June — and summer was so mild that the lakes didn't absorb much heat, he said. "So we started this season with below-water temperatures to begin with."

The ice blanket reaches across more than 90 per cent of Lakes Superior, Huron and Erie, while Lakes Michigan and Ontario are more than halfway covered.

It certainly seems to be a "back to back" season, which might see ice, again, not leaving until very late. Conversely (which matched what the Farmers Almanac predicted), western Canada, at least southern BC, has seen little snow, and now sees warm temperatures (March type weather since January) with the high pressure arctic ridge (Siberian front) swing to the east, becoming intrenched in the flow that we have seen for near seven or more weeks dominating the east.

Cherry trees start to blossom last couple days in Split, Dalmatia. Whole past week was sunny and calm almost like in spring... :cool2:

Rained here (rural nsw, Aust.) Friday with strong winds continuing into Saturday, courtesy of TC Marcia. Not as much as expected, but a good fall nonetheless. Temps around 16 - 28 C.

Mostly cloudy with rain in places, and in mountainous areas, especially in Gorski Kotar, and snow. In some places, abundant rainfall, especially in Dalmatia where possible stronger showers and thunderstorms. . In the Adriatic and very stormy,. Maximum air temperatures generally between 4 and 8, in the mountains a little lower, and the Adriatic between 9 and 14 ° C
This is the time in Croatia today, umbrellas do not help :/

Yesterday, on the NW coast of England, i looked outside about midday and the sun was so bright (and quite warm when under it) but half the sky was covered in the blackest cloud. It passed within about 30 minutes but the day stayed fairly clear until later when there was a touch of snow under the clear sky; at night the stars were very visible.
Massive goose feather flakes in West Sussex [south], a bit of a surprise! (yesterday, Saturday 21st Feb)

I think last year or the year before this happened - even if it is surprising, snow in late Feb, i think,. I remember because quite a few of the 'spring' lambs died under blankets of snow.

Generally, weather is unsettled but has been quite dry, temps in the day 6-10C and nights can reach 3-6C. There's been talk of frost and ice coming but we'll see.

Yes another phenomenon here that brings rain: umbrella braking Yoogo (jugo), violent southeastern wind coming with rainy cyclones . Violent as Boorah but warm and wet - can cause mig-raine ;) and depression due to atmospheric low pressure that is causing (Boorah brings high pressure - or it is vice versa not sure wright now :-[ hehe hehe). The best effect is sudden shift from Yoogo to Boorah (depression to up-ression). Yoogo washes everything with lofty precipitations and than blowing/drying from Boorah. Whole amplitude of attitude to go through... YEAAAHHH :perfect:

This wind sinusoid was studied by some Japanese scientists couple decades ago...

Yesterday night here in north of Italy has snowed not much but in the morning it was already all gone, basically in the north of the country the weather is not so good this winter i mean we had few nice sunny days, most of the part of winter it rained like a couple of days then 1 or 2 days a little sun and the the rain came back and during night the temperatures are dropping pretty much till -1 -2 C° , so compared to the last winter this one to me it look more colder.
