Chile's Aculeo Lagoon dries up for the first time in 2,000 years

Chile's Aculeo lagoon, a body of water that used to cover 12 square kilometers located in Paine, Chile, has completely dried up for the first time in 2,000 years.

According to researchers from the University of Chile, the disappearance of the body of water is due to urban and agricultural expansion as well as climate change and severe droughts.

Data from Chile's National Statistics Institute shows that Paine's population has increased by 45 percent from 2002 to 2017.

These communities have depleted the lagoon's water by building deep wells and extracting underground water from the aquifer.

Also, agricultural activities in the area consisting mainly of fruit plantations have extracted underground water and water directly from the lagoon 24 hours a day at a rate of up to 16 liters per minute.

Pablo Garcia, a lead researcher from University of Chile said to Chilean newspaper Publimetro, "There was no territorial planning here, the municipality authorized the use of the land without considering whether there was enough water to sustain it."

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation is an important part of the Earth’s climate system. What if something disrupted it?

July 12, 2018 - Scientists may have solved a huge riddle that led to more than 1,000 years of cold on Earth. It doesn’t bode well
Scientists may have solved a huge riddle that led to more than 1,000 years of cold on Earth. It doesn’t bode well for the future. - The Boston Globe

Thirteen thousand years ago, an ice age was ending, the Earth was warming, the oceans were rising. Then something strange happened — the Northern Hemisphere suddenly became much colder, and stayed that way for more than a thousand years.

For some time, scientists have been debating how this major climatic event — called the ‘‘Younger Dryas’’ — happened. The question has grown more urgent: Its answer may involve the kind of fast-moving climate event that could occur again.

This week, a scientific team made a new claim to having found that answer. On the basis of measurements taken off the northern coasts of Alaska and Canada in the Beaufort Sea, the scientists say they detected the signature of a huge glacial flood event that occurred around the same time.

This flood, they posit, would have flowed from the Arctic into the Atlantic Ocean and shut down the crucial circulation known as the ‘‘Atlantic meridional overturning circulation’’ (or AMOC) — plunging Europe and much of North America back into cold conditions.

‘‘Even though we were in an overall warming period, this freshwater, exported from the Arctic, slowed down the vigor, efficiency of the meridional overturning, and potentially caused the cooling observed strongly in Europe,’’ said Neal Driscoll, one of the study’s authors and a professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

The work, published in Nature Geoscience, was led by Lloyd Keigwin of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution along with researchers at that institution, Scripps and Oregon State University.

The result remains contested, though, with other researchers still arguing for different theories of what caused the Younger Dryas - including a very differently routed flood event that would have entered the ocean thousands of miles away.

Nonetheless, the story is relevant because today, we’re watching another —or rather, a further — deglaciation, as humans cause a warming of the planet. There is also evidence that the Atlantic circulation is weakening again, although scientists certainly do not think a total shutoff is imminent, and are still debating the causes of what is being observed.

Either way, the new research underscores that as the Earth warms and its ice melts, major changes can happen in the oceans. And could happen again.

The researchers behind the current study, working on board the US Coast Guard Cutter Healy, analyzed sediments of deep ocean mud, which contain the shells of long-dead marine organisms called foraminifera. In those shells, the scientists detected a long-sought-after anomaly recorded in the language of oxygen atoms.

The shells contained a disproportionate volume of oxygen−16, a lighter form (or isotope) of the element that is found in high levels in glaciers. That is because oxygen−16, containing two fewer neutrons and therefore lighter than oxygen−18, evaporates more easily from the ocean but does not rain out again as readily. As a result, it often falls as snow at high latitudes and is stored in large bodies of ice.

‘‘This is the smoking gun for fingerprinting glacial lake outbursts,’’ Driscoll said. And that means the findings may also represent the trigger for the Younger Dryas.

The thinking is that as the ice age ended and the enormous Laurentide ice sheet atop North America began to retreat, the resulting meltwater fed a bevy of large lakes atop the depressed surface of the continent. That included the massive glacial Lake Agassiz, which stretched from the Great Lakes northwestward across much of Canada.

Prior research had shown that for a while, much of the resulting freshwater drained down the Mississippi River and into the Gulf of Mexico. But at some point, as the ice sheet continued to shrink, the flow of water appears to have been suddenly rerouted to the north or to the east, where it could do more potential damage to the ocean circulation in the Atlantic.

There has long been scientific debate about where all the meltwater actually entered the ocean, though, with some contending that it would have occurred through the St. Lawrence River, which flows past today’s Montreal and Quebec City and thus out into the Atlantic.

The new research holds that, instead, the floodwater exited through the Mackenzie River, which stretches across today’s Northwest Territories, emptying straight into the Arctic Ocean.

It would certainly have been an enormous flow of fresh water. ‘‘I would say somewhere between the Mississippi and the Amazon,’’ Keigwin said.

That could have interfered with the Atlantic circulation, which is crucial because it carries warm water northward, and so heats higher latitudes. Eventually, the waters of the circulation become very cold as they travel northward, but because they are also quite salty, they sink because of their high density and travel back south again.

Freshening is therefore the Achilles’ heel of the circulation. And the new study argues that although the glacial water would have entered the seas very far away near the present Alaska-Canada border, it would have then circulated around the Arctic, eventually traveling south past Greenland and entering the key regions that are crucial to the overturning circulation, which tend to be off Greenland’s southern coasts.

Not everyone is convinced, though - including some researchers who have previously published results suggesting that the outburst flood or flow was instead to the east, through the St. Lawrence River.

‘‘They have produced a nice signal of the release of freshwater into the Arctic Ocean, but the conclusions are based on an uncertain chronology which, when trying to tie together events so closely, requires some independent confirmation,’’ Peter Clark, an Oregon State University geoscientist who has published evidence supporting the St. Lawrence River theory, said in an email.

Anders Carlson, Clark’s co-author and colleague at Oregon State University, sent a geological study finding that, as he put it in an email, ‘‘the Lake Agassiz waters were clearly routed eastward at the start of the Younger Dryas.’’

‘‘This does not preclude Younger Dryas-age floods . . . to the Arctic Ocean,’’ Carlson wrote, ‘‘but it does show that such floods are of local origin and not related to the drainage of Lake Agassiz.’’

Both groups, though, think the flow of fresh water from the gigantic lake and from other melting events toward the Atlantic interfered with the ocean’s circulation — they’re just disagreeing about how it got there.

The question thus becomes whether it is possible to even more dramatically interfere with the circulation again — and what could cause that.

‘‘I don’t think there’s any lakes on land that are big enough to do this,’’ Keigwin said. ‘‘It has to come from ice, because that’s the biggest reservoir of freshwater. And Greenland is the ice mass that you would be most suspicious of, because it’s right there poised to do enough damage.’’

And yet, Greenland is no Lake Agassiz. ‘‘Greenland doesn’t have large land lakes to store the water,’’ Driscoll said. Rather, it releases steady streams of water in the form of glacial runoff, which often goes straight into the ocean — and it releases huge icebergs that slowly melt.

So nobody is necessarily expecting a sudden outburst flood as Greenland melts. Still, Driscoll and Keigwin both think that Greenland’s steady losses over time, especially if they increase in pace, can build up.

Climate scientists will be quick to point out that even if the Atlantic circulation slows or shuts down, ceasing to transport as much heat and leading to some Northern Hemisphere cooling, the overall global warming trend will still be ongoing and may overpower it. We won’t directly repeat the Younger Dryas, but we can learn from it.
Seems they already knew about this in '88 and even have a name for it. They also know it's cyclical, as it has occurred at least seven times.

Japanese astronomers say they have spotted a small celestial body at the far edge of the Solar System.

Scientists from the National Astronomical Observatory, Kyoto University and others say the body is 2.6 kilometers in diameter.

Astronomers have long predicted the existence of small bodies beyond the orbit of Neptune.

But they have not succeeded in detecting them because objects with diameters of 20 kilometers or less are too dim to observe even with the most advanced telescopes.

The group devised a unique way to locate such objects by using two small, commercially available telescopes and video cameras. They say the development of the system cost only about 32,000 dollars.

They focused on the idea that light from distant stars is obstructed when other objects pass in front of them. They monitored about 2,000 stars for 60 hours to locate the newly discovered body.

They say their simulation data suggest that more than two billion bodies smaller than 20 kilometers exist in the zone.

These objects are thought to be the remnants of the formation of planets.

The scientists say their small project has produced great results that even well-funded ones have not been able to achieve and that they want to improve their method to find even more distant bodies.

SYDNEY, Australia: “Hundreds of thousands” of fish have died in drought-stricken Australia in the last few days and more mass deaths are likely to occur, the authorities warned Tuesday.

Locals around the Darling River were confronted with a sea of white, as dead fish carpeted the waters near the southeastern Outback town of Menindee.

Just weeks after up to a million were killed — with scientists pointing to low water and oxygen levels as well as possibly toxic algae — another mass death occurred in the key agricultural region.

Inspectors from the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries have visited the site and said they found that “hundreds of thousands of fish have died.”

“Further fish deaths in the Darling River are anticipated as a significant number of fish have been observed under stress,” the department said in a statement.

Some 700 kilos (1,543 pounds) of dead fish were removed from the river Monday, with similar amounts expected to be collected Tuesday, it added.

A massive “ice tsunami” created a surreal scene on the shores of Lake Erie in both Ontario, Canada and near Buffalo, New York over the weekend.

Watch As Lake Erie Sends A Massive 40-Foot 'Ice Tsunami' Crashing Ashore

High winds pushed ice through the Niagara River and into the lake, and eventually forced it ashore, creating what’s more formally known as an “ice shove” in Fort Erie, Canada and Hamburg, N.Y.

Storm chaser David Piano told CNN the ice wall was 40 feet high in spots and “starting to bulldoze trees and street lamps.”

Similar scenes were reported elsewhere along Lake Erie, including at Hoover Beach in Hamburg, just outside of Buffalo. WGRZ, the local NBC station, said the ice shove hit 30 feet high in parts of Hoover Beach:

http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/cc/en-us/

This is the first time in my entire life I’ve seen it come this high and this close to the house,” longtime resident Jack Schultz told the Buffalo News. “It came up in sheets. It just layered it up to the wall. Then, when the (ice) boom broke, it took all the pressure out of here.”
National Geographic said ice shoves ― also called ice pushes and ivu ― are created by high winds and “are most likely to occur in the early spring, when ice just starts to weaken and break up.”

'Ice tsunami' hits New York prompting evacuations

As parts of the UK hit record high temperatures for February, an “ice tsunami” has been ravaging the US.

The phenomenon, officially called an ice shove or ice surge, occurs when ocean currents, strong winds or temperature differences push ice blocks from the water onto the shore – in this case winds of 119kph.

Towering 30ft walls of ice were spotted on the shores of Lake Erie and banks of the Niagara River in New York State near the Canadian border on Monday 25 February.

Video footage shows undulating chunks of ice surging over the lake’s edge, eerily propelled by an invisible force.

Police warned people to drive carefully, while a voluntary evacuation was encouraged for residents of Hoover Beach, a neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Lake Erie.

“We’ve had storms in the past but nothing like this,” Hoover Beach local Dave Schultz told WGRZ, adding that in 50 years he’s never seen the ice pushed up against the walls and spilling onto residents’ patios like it is at the moment.

Local emergency services crews went door to door to check on all residents affected by the evacuation.

Buffalo’s National Weather Service issued a wind advisory warning on Monday night, warning of strong gusts that could bring down trees and power lines and result in numerous power outages.

Locals shared footage and pictures of the ice tsunami on social media, with David Piano tweeting: ”This ice tsunami is one of the craziest things I’ve ever witnessed. Starting to bulldoze trees and street lamps.”

Peter Thanasse wrote: “It’s pretty bad here in Niagara/FtErie area. My roof is bare in spots now (already called insurance) and wind along Lake Erie shoreline has created an ice tsunami”.

Back in November 2013, two years ago, when I started this thread because my attention was riveted by the erupting volcanoes, we had not yet encountered the Western engineered coup d'etat of January 2014 - two months later. But of course, the Ukraine event was one of the "signs" given by the Cs that we were to watch for. As we have often discussed, since the Universe is an open system, giving hard and fast predictions is an iffy business, but apparently, some larger scale events can be foreseen and even some things that are part(s) of planned events, engineered in darkness by PTB. Some predictions seem to be "impressionistic", as the Cs pointed out, and others seem to have some sort of sound/symbol relationship. There are just many factors to consider.

But anyway, I noted those volcanoes at the time I began this thread and it felt to me as though things were about to change dramatically on the global stage. How right I was in view of the things that have transpired since the Ukraine coup! But I sure didn't see how it was going to all play out.

Now, there is another event - rather smaller - that piques my brain: this recent Amtrak derailment. The Cs once mentioned such a thing in relation to another impressionistic prediction that I have thought referred to the Oklahoma City bombing. This was 20 years ago.
See here:
Regarding the Oklahoma City event, note that it occurred on April 19, 1995 which is actually about a month and a half later. And it was not in Washington, though it WAS in a federal building.

Shortly after the OK City event, we asked about it:

As we know, the 9-11 events included Washington DC, but the biggest kerfuffle was in NY with the WTC.

It seems to me that there was some mixing of events seen here: Oklahoma City and the 9-11 events. Notice that back in 1994, the Cs had said:
The curious thing about this remark is that on February 25 of 1995, as noted above, we were given a warning of a terrorist bomb attack within a month. Connecting that back to this mention of Oklahoma "political abduction," and we find a curious relationship to the Oklahoma Bombing in March of 1995. In one of the earliest reports of the capture of Timothy McVeigh, he was quoted as saying that he was under the control of an implant that was in his hip, and that he believed he had been abducted and programmed by the government.

And it was, indeed, BIG news!

But then we have that odd thing about the Denver Airport from the first session:
And then we have another list of marker events from 3 December 1994:

So, we have a lot of things to keep in mind as possible triggers.

So now, come back to the Amtrak derailment. As it happens, if the prediction had been given in February of THIS year, it would have been a sort of hit because the location specified was rather a broad area: near Long Island or Chicago. In this case, it occurred "north of Philadelphia." That's much closer to Long Island than to Chicago.

Whether or not it is a "hit" (crazy to think of such a thing being predicted 20 years in advance!) what it might be is a marker. Considering that it was given in conjunction with the prediction about an attack on Washington DC that the Cs said was NOT the OKC attack, does this mean that we might be looking for such an attack in the US soon? Are these things seen sort of in "clusters" that relate to each other in some way we can't understand?

And since the Ukraine thing might be in process (we don't know if the "explosion" is political or literal or maybe both) along with the other items in its cluster, should we be keeping those other things in mind as well? Obviously, Princess Diana is already dead and we are on a slightly different space/time trajectory, but it is still interesting to consider all of these things.

Maybe we are yet to have that tornado in Missouri that will kill 191 people? Notice that Missouri is home to Ferguson where riots have been taking place. Also notice that Missouri is predicted to "shake" as stated in the first session - along with the burying of Seattle, the buckling of Japan, the crumbling of California and the burning of Arizona.

Many of these things appear to be in process and as I wrote recently, we all have to think of Earth Changes (and The Wave) in terms of scale.

In short, it really looks like the process is well underway and maybe we can look for more of these predictions, in some form or another, though certainly identifiable, to transpire.

Does any of this make sense? Do ya'll get what I'm driving at here?

Noticed also local utility vehicles clustered near here, on 2 different occasions, (networking...?).

Over the summer Orange Internet provider moved through this area upgrading the hard wire delivery with glass fiber optic, while also replacing many wood poles with synthetic resin composite plastics.

Also they, did some rapid repaving of hard use roads via private contractors. The reason given, for next years Tour de France. Ah OK?

Like the sessions say, weather disguised as 4Dsts war in the heavens.

Session 2 May 2015
Snip:
(Pierre) And the universe is about balance. If you have powerful good entities, then you have powerful evil entities.

(Perceval) I think like you're saying there, it might actually make people question whether or not god actually cares in the way it's presented.

(L) Yeah, and these are things I talk about in The Wave.

(Perceval) It makes you think. It makes a former blind believer think in real terms, and you come up with difficult questions and not many answers.

(L) Alright, so who's got questions? Moving along...

(Perceval) I was wondering about these WalMart store closures. There were five stores closed across southern US states, from Florida to California. They gave an explanation of "plumbing problems". They told employees on the day they closed them. They walked in, and they said basically, "You're all fired at the end of today." They're closing the doors due to plumbing issues, and they said this same thing at each of the five stores. 2200 people across 5 stores lost their jobs.

(Andromeda) And they were doing well, so it wasn't a money issue.

(Perceval) One of them was in the top 10 for sales in the US, and there are like 1500 stores total. Anyway, they gave a bogus explanation of plumbing repairs, but that's been refuted by everybody. Everyone said they never saw a single plumbing problem, no plumbers, no nothing. Even mainstream media news reports on it are saying that this plumbing explanation is obviously bullshit. So, people in the conspiracy community have started linking it with this Jade Helm exercises later in the year. They're saying the stores will be turned into prison camps, detention centers, whatever... It's all crazy stuff. I don't think that's true, but the question is then: Why were these stores closed?

A: Influences of a cosmic nature.

Q: (Perceval) In the fringe conspiracy domain, they're all going crazy about this. A lot of people are talking about this, like Sorcha Faal. One of her sites, EU Times, just makes tons of claims with no sources to back it up. There was stuff about how all WalMarts are connected by underground tunnels across the USA, and that the US military uses these WalMarts as logistics centers.

(Andromeda) Um, that's not very practical... And detention centers is impractical because they're gonna need a LOT more space than that, obviously. So, it's very mysterious...

(L) So what does "cosmic influences" mean?

A: Full spectrum dominance of 4D STS helpers. [answer comes slowly, and gets a bit stuck at "helpers"]

SKIPPING DOWN

(Perceval) ...in a preparatory way for something they expect coming down the pipeline in the near future.

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) Or for a civil war situation...

(Perceval) Or financial collapse.

(L) Or catastrophe...

(Pierre) What kind of eventuality do they have in mind?

A: No dice.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything - except for the fact that Orange is upgrading to fiber everywhere there are copper wires, which is to say all over France, over the next few years.

Last summer, we got a huge DSL upgrade. Around August 2020, we're scheduled to get fiber. There have been trucks doing work like this all over our region for awhile now.

Interestingly enough, we are NOT scheduled to get 5G anytime soon (thank god).

I agree just stating some trivia and watching. They were in the rain today putting in another plastic pole.
Sell, sell, sell. Fact is old people here are TV bound. It means nothing to them, Unless, the local phone bee's put the hard sell (whammy), a on them.

We saw a huge surge of internet traffic during the Tour De France. Traffic here came to halt. To many mobile devices in use at peek times.

Lots of law enforcement within the crowds. Just a huge difference, to the very first time,
This time though, there were lots of heavy weapons. Obediently, it would now the new normal.

EU is tanking. The cuts can seen and by watching the local traffic, business's and networking.

By all accounts I get the feeling will be something celestial and or natural event on steroids I just get that, feeling.

I was also forced into abandoning our local copper infrastructure in favour of fibre this year at my residence.

I tried to dispute the change, as my dual DSL was tip top, citing my inability to have a phone in time of power outage.
The rep admitted that there is no policies to protect my right to a copper phone line and recommended I use a UPS for their VoIP replacement if I had concerns for power.

They outright offered to cancel my phone if I didn’t want to keep it as result of this mandatory change.

I found that telling of the situation, as typically they would go above and beyond and keep using the copper infrastructure if they can maintain a subscription. I believe they intend on dismantling this legacy infrastructure.

Sure fibre is better for bandwidth but the copper infrastructure allowed communication without a power grid. Sometimes (actually mosttimes in our clown world dystopia) newer isn’t better.
