The 13 Crystal Skulls Legend and Prophecy

This post is a follow-up to an article I posted on the subject of crystal skulls on 8 June 2021 – Alton Towers, Sir Francis Bacon and the Rosicrucians

In that article I pointed out that if you go to the Wikipedia page for crystal skulls, you will see that they take a very sceptical view of the whole subject, deeming all such skulls to be 19th Century fakes, primarily manufactured in Germany, quite likely at workshops in the town of Idar-Oberstein, which was renowned for crafting objects made from imported Brazilian quartz in the late 19th Century. See: Crystal skull - Wikipedia.

I also expressed the view that Wikipedia has taken as regards the famous Mitchell-Hedges Skull, which they propose is also a fake. Apparently, Wikipedia sources claim that evidence has come to light showing that F.A. Mitchell-Hedges purchased the skull at a Sotheby’s auction in London on October 15, 1943. However, the C’s seem to adopt a very different view on the matter. When Laura raised the subject of Mayan crystal skull, they said the skull was used to study the brain and learn about the soul:

Session dated 2 November 1994:

Q: (L) Who carved the crystal skull found in Central America?
A: Mayans.
Q: (L) What was the purpose of that skull?
A: Study brain. Long message follows pause: Now: skull was to learn about soul; reflective remolecularization imaging. Grays do this with abductees.
Q: (L) Through what kind of instrument.
A: Energy focusing.

Furthermore, many of these supposedly Mesoamerican skulls are made of quartz crystal. As presenters on the Ancient Aliens episode pointed out, it is impossible to date quartz, so there is no way of really telling how old such artefacts are.

I was recently rummaging through some old papers and came across an article on crystal skulls written by the late Philip Coppens, who wrote numerous books and articles on a range of esoteric subjects and was a frequent speaker on the TV series Ancient Aliens. The article originally appeared in the magazine ‘Atlantis Rising’ in 2010). My printed copy of the article was not ideal for uploading but on checking the internet, I found the article was still available at the following site A New Ancient Crystal Skull Discovered! - Eye Of The Psychic. However, I am reproducing the article in full here, as I would like to comment on some of the points Coppens makes in his article.
A New Ancient Crystal Skull Discovered!

The Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull is no longer unique! Out of Africa – by way of California – emerges another ancient skull, “Compassion”, with a detachable jaw. Already, this skull is re-carving the crystal skull landscape!
by Philip Coppens

With the 2008 release of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, crystal skulls attained a far higher level of exposure than ever before. Before, crystal skulls had only become somewhat famous in the 1980s, particularly in New Age circles. Today, there are hundreds of crystal skulls, almost all of them of modern fabrication (most made in China) and used in various New Age-type seminars. Only a handful of skulls are suspected of having ancient origins, including the most famous of all crystal skulls: the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull.

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” makes scant references to the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull. It stands out for it is by far the most complex, and the only skull with a detachable jaw, meaning that whomever made this, was a master artist in carving crystal – able to create a feat that modern carvers have been unable to accomplish. Gerald Leandro De Souza, a master skull carver from Brazil with 25 years of experience behind him, notes that “the process of cutting the jaw from a skull causes the jaw to break and is almost impossible for skull carvers to accomplish.”

Still, sceptics, principally led by Jane Walsh, an anthropologist at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, try to argue that all these skulls are of modern fabrications. So far, none of the claims made by Walsh and co. have been substantiated, let alone supported by factual evidence. Specifically, Walsh tries to point the finger to Germany and the town of Idar-Oberstein, arguing most of these skulls were carved there by the resident artists. However, no records of skull carving have ever been found there; there are no records of any carver doing carving in the middle of the 19th century, when some of these skulls are said to have been made. In short, Walsh’s theories remain totally unsubstantiated – not very scientific!

On the other side of the debate are the likes of Nick Nocerino, one of the first crystal skull researchers, who travelled extensively throughout Central America, in search of them. He noted how on several occasions, Indian tribes offered skulls on sale to him, as with the money, the local shamans could buy precious Western medicine and like, to help their tribe at a time when the Mayan people were subjected to genocide. Nocerino always refused such offers, as he strongly believed the skulls were such an integral part of Mayan society, that these tribes needed their precious talisman. (Though he did everything to help the tribes in other ways.) The Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull too comes with a Central American origin. The family itself stated that Anna Mitchell-Hedges found the skull in the ruins of Lubaantuun on her 17th birthday in 1924. It is a story Anna adhered to until her death, though it was subjected to intense criticism from the sceptics. Indeed, a more likely story about how her father found the skull is told in his novel, “The White Tiger”, published in 1931. In it, he relates a largely autobiographical account of an Englishman who is initiated by a Mayan tribe, to become the principal caretaker of a most important treasure. When the Mayan priest shows him the treasure, the Englishman is led down into a series of tunnels, before the treasure is unveiled to him: “Before him, piled in endless confusion, lay the treasure of the Aztecs. Gold chalices, bowls, jars and other vessels of every size and shape; immense plaques and strange ornaments all glittered dully. Of precious stones there were none, but many rare chalchihuitl (jadeite pendants) [sic]. Masks of obsidian and shells beautifully inlaid were all heaped together with heads carved from solid blocks of crystal. Legend had not exaggerated the treasure of the Aztecs. Almost boundless wealth lay at the disposal of the White Tiger.”

“Heads carved from solid blocks of crystals”: a reference to crystal skulls made by Frederick “Mike” Mitchell-Hedges in 1931, more than a decade before he – according to the likes of Walsh – acquired a skull at auction at Sotheby’s in London in 1943.

Because it is the most complex, the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull is both the most famous and the most debated. It is unique. But today, the Mitchell-Hedges skull is no longer unique: on August 6, 2009, former Alaskan fisherman Joe Bennett was able to finally buy, from a Californian import shop, a crystal skull… with a detachable jaw, which he soon named “Compassion”. A new era in crystal skull research had therefore dawned, for a number of reasons.

Bennett is a retired fisherman from Alaska. He had earned the nickname “the crystal sailor”, as for years, he had been collecting an impressive array of crystals. In his hunt for crystals, in 2006, he stumbled upon a crystal skull, in an import store in Carmel, California. The skull had belonged to a close friend of the owners, who had brought it over from Africa. Upon his death his family liquidated the estate and asked the import store to sell the crystal skull for them.

Bennett relates how he “noticed a crystal skull in the back of this shop on a high shelf. I admired the extreme craftsmanship, saw the price and forgot about it. Like most people I didn’t have any reference for crystal skulls other than Halloween witches or Black Magic.” However, the skull did not let go of Joe, who had a series of vivid dreams about the skull, so much so that he dispatched his sister – who lived nearby – to make a series of photographs, which she sent to Joe. It was now only a matter of time before the skull would end up in Bennett’s care. Compassion is human-sized and clear quartz, 5.5” tall, 5.5” wide and 8 inches long, weighing 11 pounds – very similar in dimensions to the Mitchell-Hedges skull. The mouth has 28 teeth. Little is known of the origins of the skull. It is known that the skull was in storage in the United States for five years prior to the shop putting it up for sale. Before, it had spent 22 years in a warehouse in Africa. The name of the people who owned it in Africa is not a matter of public record, but initial analyses of the skull have shown that the crystal is not from Brazil. Gerald Leandro De Souza argues that the “quartz probably is from Africa”. The likeliest source is Namibia, Africa, which is a well-known location where quartz crystal can be found.

Whereas the Mitchell-Hedges skull is “crystal clear”, Compassion is more like another crystal skull, known as MAX: Compassion is made out of three distinct layers (MAX has five such layers). The largest, frontal part is made of the clearest quartz crystal. Behind, roughly the top of the forehead, is a somewhat softer section of less-clear crystal. Behind is a final, third layer, separated from the others by a small fissure of iron oxide, which one can only truly see from the back of the skull.

The possibility that the material inside the fissure is iron oxide was first suggested by crystal carver James Ziegler, who added that the material at the bottom of the fissure was feldspar. This conclusion was confirmed when Bennett had the skull examined by Dr. Ray Corbett, Associate Curator of Archaeology at the Natural History Museum in Santa Barbara and Geologist Dr. John Minch on March 30, 2010. It was Minch who confirmed that the fissure was filled with iron oxide.

These experts furthermore accepted that the grounding of the crystal had occurred by hand, and not by machine. One area of the skull show pie-shaped areas, which a carver would keep, but a grinding wheel would smooth out. There are other aspects of the skull, especially to do with a lack of symmetry between the right and left side, which show that the work was carried out by human hands. Corbett and Minch also identified that the natural growth of the crystal is for the skull to be placed with the teeth pointing up. This means that the iron oxide layer was at the bottom of the then axis of the crystal, with the layer of the face being the clearest and the top one. The carver would have to carve against the grain of the skull and skip over these fractures, a task which crystal carvers say is extremely hard to do – surpassing their expertise.

When one runs a fingernail along the top of the skull, one can feel the fractures between the layers. Dr. Minch said that whoever made this skull, would have to do so very slowly, for if the quartz were to get hot, it would shatter – thus underlining that the usage of tools in the making of this skull was unlikely.

During testing, Dr. Minch also noted there was an “air bubble” inside the skull. When the skull is rocked, the bubble moves over half the thickness (about 1mm) up and down in a solution which he believes is water, which somehow made its way into the skull and trapped the air bubble inside. Bennett has speculated whether this air bubble should be interpreted as a representation of the pineal gland, a part of the brain that is often referred to as the “third eye”, and which is therefore heavily imbued with esoteric meaning. René Descartes even labelled it the seat of the soul, echoing a belief that goes back thousands of years.

Minch also found golden rutile in both skull and jaw. Rutile is a major ore of titanium, and is found as microscopic inclusions in quartz and other precious gemstones. It is responsible for many of the light effects that one sees within these objects.

Scientists have a hard time admitting that the detachable jaw of the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull is made from crystal (it is), and is from the same crystal as the rest of the skull (it is). But no such doubt can arise in the case of Compassion: its right cheek has a foil in the crystal that runs from the right cheek into jaw, and hence clearly shows that both the main part of the skull and the jaw are from the same crystal.

It will be interesting to see what sceptics are now going to do. In the case of the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull, they tried to debate the jaw away, as the creation of such a jaw has never been accomplished by modern crystal workers. But Compassion will not look compassionately upon these sceptics, who will have to come up with stronger arguments, if they want to persist in continuing the same old controversies in trying to explain away what is one of the most interesting recent discoveries. However impressive Compassion is, its face is not symmetrical. With its detachable jaw placed underneath the skull’s teeth, Compassion looks and is symmetrical, but remove the jaw, and it becomes clear that the skull is off-centre: the teeth are slanted to the right. The only place where polishing marks are evident to the human eye is under the maxilla. This area was not finely polished, maybe to illustrate it was hand carved. The rest of the skull does not show any of these marks. Indeed, Compassion brings us to an interesting conclusion: the skull is clearly made by human hands, but whomever made it, had an expertise in working with quartz crystal, which exceeds that of anyone alive today. In short, there is an entire lost science of working with quartz crystal. But where did it come from, and where did it go?

Finally, when we stare into its eyes, it is clear that both are not identical: the left eye is far clearer than the right. It was in fact while Bennett and his wife stared into the skull’s eyes, that they felt “it” looked sad. His wife said she “showed compassion in her gaze” and a name was born. Both also felt that Compassion held a feminine energy.

Bennett has photographed the skull extensively. Some of the close-ups have revealed a number of interesting subliminal images that Compassion conjures up. When the skull was placed on a light-box, one such image that emerged was of an enigmatic head, while nearby, there was the outline of a horse’s head. The key question is whether Compassion can ever be proven to be ancient. As mentioned, the likes of Jane Walsh from the Smithsonian have gone out of their way – abandoning the scientific process altogether – to argue come what may that all skulls are of modern origin. Their scientific bias was apparent during the testing of the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull in 2008, when one member of the team straightforwardly proclaimed that the detachable jaw clearly was and could only be glass. When it was found out not to be glass soon afterwards, he exclaimed somewhat reservedly “this did not mean it was crystal” – even though previous testing by Hewlett-Packard had clearly shown that the jaw was indeed crystal!

The problem is that crystal is impossible to date, so any dating needs to happen through other, secondary means. Evidence of tools, especially the wheel, has been put forward as the key indicator as to whether a skull is ancient (read: pre-Columbian) or modern. However much this argument is flawed, it cannot apply to a skull that comes from Africa – Africa was never an isolated continent, witnessing the origins of Mankind several tens of thousands of years ago. The argument only works if we see crystal skulls as a purely American phenomenon, whereby the wheel is assumed to have been introduced with the arrival of Western Europeans.

Compassion Fig.4

Of course, the skull’s presence in Africa for a number of decades does not mean it was always there. Equally, the origins of civilisation in Central America itself remains enigmatic. The Olmec civilisation dates back to at least 1200 BC, and some have argued for an African origin to this civilisation. In 1972, Dr. A. Wiercinski argued that some of the Olmecs were of African origin, supporting his claim with skeletal evidence from several Olmec sites. According to Clyde Winters, the Olmecs were from the Mandinka region of West Africa (north of Namibia). Their language is known as Mende, the script which was actually found on monuments at Monte Alban in Mexico. Interestingly, it is at Monte Alban that evidence has been found that the Mayans were definitely familiar with crystal artefacts.

Still, the quartz crystal having Namibia as its likeliest origin means that the skull itself must have had an African connection, wherever it was carved or used. And whereas there are Mayan legends of how skulls with removable jaws could “sing and talk” during certain religious ceremonies that were performed in the many Mayan sanctuaries, the question is which African cultures held crystal skulls dear.

Little is known about Compassion and seeing its existence is only known about for a year, most discoveries about it are still to come. If we were to assume that it is indeed of African origins, then we are confronted with crystal skulls on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, bearing great similarities. Are they evidence of pre-Columbian contact between the two continents, in which case the Olmecs are the likeliest candidate, or should we look at much older origins, including the fabled lost civilisation of Atlantis? Those who have communicated with the skulls – in trance, meditation or otherwise – keep referring to an Atlantean connection. During a crystal skull conference in September 2009 – one of the first public airings of Compassion – Mayan elder Hunbatz Men was one of the speakers and he became intrigued by Compassion. Studying the skull closely, he exclaimed “Atlantis!” He added that there was a matrix in the back of the skull which showed an ancient map which he did not understand. Several months later, Bennett realised that the iron oxide layer in the skull largely resembles a map of the African continent. Coincidence or not?

Another psychic who has worked with Compassion is Carole Wilson/Davis. Wilson originally worked with the Mitchell-Hedges skull, resulting in “The Skull Speaks”, published in 1985 and one of the first books to appear on crystal skulls altogether. For Wilson, the iron oxide came in the shape of a phoenix, spreading its wings, with a head and a beak in the centre. She added that the information from Compassion changed, whereas that of the Mitchell-Hedges was stable – “the same information every day.” Within Mayan creation mythology, there is a special role for skulls. Ancient temple complexes like Chichen Itza are three-dimensional renderings of the Mayan creation myth. Near the famous pyramid and ball court is an unimpressive “Platform of the Skull”. In the creation myth, when playing ball, the Twin Maize Gods disturbed the lords of Xibalba, the Mayan underworld. The Xibalbans summoned the Maize Gods to the underworld to answer for their disrespectful behaviour. There, they subjected them to a series of trials. When they failed these tests, they were killed and buried in the ball court of Xibalba. The eldest twin was decapitated, his head hung in the tree next to the ball court, as a warning to anyone who might repeat their offence. This was visualised on the Platform of the Skull. There is no archaeological evidence as to what type of skull hung there, but seeing it was a divine skull, which spoke and spat, a crystal skull with a detachable jaw would definitely have impressed all visitors – in a way any other type of skull would not have been able to accomplish!

Crystal balls are also used for scrying. Is it possible that Compassion was used for scrying? The various images that people have seen inside of her, would thus be parts of the scrying process. And extended staring in the skull might have placed the person in a trance. Users of Compassion are sometimes transported to another reality, for example by staring into its eyes – especially the left one.

In the 1980s, when the Central American crystal skulls came to prominence, various atrocious crimes were committed against the Mayan population there. In countries like Guatemala, an oppressive regime slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Mayan people. It took years before the news of this “Silent Holocaust” became known; throughout the genocide, Western governments supported the Guatemalan government. Only able to rely on themselves, the Mayan people began to organise themselves – becoming terrorists or freedom fighters, depending on your perspective – and they began to use key dates from the Mayan calendar for their campaigns, hoping to shake the Mayan people awake and embrace their true origins and common heritage – one that transcended the modern borders Western world powers had created. Sociologists have labelled it the “Mayan Renaissance”. Today, three decades later, the world is very much aware of the Mayan calendar – especially its key date, December 21, 2012 – and millions of people visit the various Mayan monuments of Central America.

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa was seen as a joyous event for Africa, showing that Africa is not just a country of civil war and hunger. There is great joy in a continent that gave us the Ancient Egyptian civilisation, while Kenya is seen as the “cradle of Mankind”, for the remains of the earliest hominids have been found in that country. Twenty years ago, American bestselling author Kathleen McGowan attended a crystal skull workshop lead by Susan McCune. McGowan was told that in the future, she would work with skulls from Africa and that several skulls would emerge from that continent. When she saw Compassion in July 2010, McGowan remembered McCune’s prophecy. And if McCune is right, Compassion is but the first in a series of African skulls that will make their existence known to the world. And with their emergence, will there be a renewed appreciation for the African continent? At this moment in time, Compassion’s existence has already changed the entire crystal skull debate, showing that the Mitchell-Hedges skull is not unique in its complexity, and that Central America is unlikely to be the only origin of crystal skulls. The question as to the origins of the crystal skulls has therefore been redefined: did various ancient cultures have them? Did an African civilisation bring them to the American continent? Or do we need to delve further back in time, to a lost civilisation, like Atlantis, from which these skulls originated? A new dawn in crystal skull research has just broken…

This article appeared in Atlantis Rising, Issue 84 (November – December 2010), Frontier 94 (17.1, January – February 2011) and Mysteries Magazine 2011.2 (March 2011).

As you can see from the above, Coppens calls into question the arguments of those who suggest the crystal skulls are of modern manufacture. If Compassion does originate from Africa, then this is a definite game changer, given that most crystal skulls are usually linked with Central and South America. Coppens mentions that crystal balls have been used for scrying (medium trance sessions such as those conducted by John Dee and Edward Kelley) and wonders whether it is possible that Compassion was ever used for scrying. Was Compassion also used for learning about the soul in the same way that the Mayan Mitchell-Hedges Skull was according to the C’s? Whatever the truth of the matter, Coppens’ article shows there is a lot more to the subject of crystal skulls than the archaeological and scientific communities are prepared to consider.

Holy Ice: Past Lives and Crystal Skulls

Apart from this article, I recently learned through Nexus Magazine of a new book on crystal skulls called ‘Holy Ice: Past Lives and Crystal Skulls’ by Paulinne Delcour-Min. In 1998 Delcour-Min, a past life therapist, was compelled, so she claims, to have a private sitting with the ancient quartz skull known as Sha Na Ra when Native American elders brought crystal skulls to England on the Wolf Song tour. You may recall that Sha Na Ra was one of the crystal skulls featured in my previous article. Apparently, she asked the skull a question about her life and future and it showed her the answer in a picture that appeared deep within the crystal. The picture was detailed and sharp and confirmed to her that the mysterious things she had read about the skulls were true. This then led her to research the legend of the crystal skulls by using her skills with past life memory recall.

Now I have not read her book and cannot vouch for what she is claiming for the skulls. However, her mention of seeing a picture deep within the skull made me think about what the C’s have said about reflective remolecularisation imaging as regards the Mitchell-Hedges Skull and what Wolfram von Eschenbach said about the names of people called to serve the Holy Grail appearing in lettering that could be viewed on the edge of the Grail. It strikes me that there is an advanced science at work hidden within these ancient skulls, which our modern technology still needs to get to grips with. These skulls may also be subject to a frequency fence or occlusion in the way in which the Grail is, which means only those persons with the right soul disposition or frequency vibration may be able to access the information the skulls have locked away inside their crystal structures.

Since I've read Josephus cover-to-cover, I think this [twelve] insert has been put there by one of the translators early on, but in any case much later than the original 78 AD text - which probably didn't specify a number anyway. In those days, everybody knew the right number (I suppose) and any specification would've been superfluous.

You would have to go to the original Greek (koinè)) text to make sure, though.

There it states: 214 The curtain was embroidered with everything in the heavens except the zodiac
Thank you very much for this. I have questions, maybe one of the readers here can answer:

1. What is the earliest version still existing and from which year is it? Is it an "original" handwritten copy supposedly made by some monk sometimes/somwhere in the dark / medieval age - or is it a printed copy from renaissance times that was supposedly made from some handwritten manuscript supposedly found in some monastery in the 14-15th century that is now "sadly" lost?
Or formulated in another way: What is the hard proof that there was indeed a "Josephus" who indeed wrote this in 78 AD?

2. This is the relevant passage from the link provided by Palinurus:
[214] Κατεγέγραπτο δ' ὁ πέπλος ἅπασαν τὴν οὐράνιον θεωρίαν πλὴν ζῳδίων. -> josephus/War/JWG5

There the translation is given as quoted by Palinurus:
214 The curtain was embroidered with everything in the heavens except the zodiac.

The translation in PaleoChristianity is:
This curtain had also embroidered upon it all that was mystical in the heavens, excepting that of the [twelve] signs, representing living creatures.

If I put the Greek in DeepL Translate, I get:
[214] And the veil is written down, and the veil is used for the celestial theory except for the signs.

Is someone here who can translate the Greek for us?

My guess is that Greek was the main language (lingua franca) of the day and was used by educated people, including Romans, throughout the Roman Empire in the same way that educated people in the Middle Ages (like John Dee) used Latin instead of the vernacular, even though Latin was a dead language by then. Don't forget the oldest extant Bible or Old Testament, the Septuagint, was translated into Greek at some time in the 3rd century BC. Moreover, the Gospels of Mark, Luke and John were all written in Greek in spite of being written at the height of the Roman Empire.

The Greek language in its koinè form was indeed the lingua franca throughout the early Roman Empire although later on the Western part predominantly used Latin while the Eastern part kept on using Koinè until the end of the Byzantine Empire (1453 AD).

Titus Flavius Josephus was from the Eastern part of the Empire and was therefore more familiar with Greek (koinè) than with Latin. Originally he probably spoke Aramaic. Most educated people in the Western part were bilingual in both Latin and Greek.

If I put the Greek in DeepL Translate, I get:

The DeepL translation is a literal one. Here is the Loeb translation which has some authority among scholars, but any translator will give you different solutions for the same Greek phrase. That's a given and an inevitability. IOW, there hardly ever exists an overriding interpretation or translation AFAIK. Translating is a reputation based art with a wide variety of quality.

Loeb translation:
214 κατεγέγραπτο δ᾿ ὁ πέπλος ἅπασαν τὴν οὐράνιον θεωρίαν πλὴν τῶν ζῳδίω
214 On this tapestry was portrayed a panorama of the heavens, the signs of the Zodiac excepted.

As for the oldest extant version in Greek, there seems to be a papyrus from the 3rd century that is probably the oldest available version.

It has been reproduced here:
Reprod.: éd. d'A. Pelletier, Flavius Josèphe. Guerre des Juifs, t. II (Paris, CUF, 1980) pl. I. Photographie à Liège.

Nothing is said about its availability, though.

Also relevant: the Slavonic Josephus.

Josephus lived from 37AD - (ca.)100AD and wrote the books that carry his name. This is not contested. Otherwise, Laura would certainly have mentioned it in her latest book about Paul and paleo-christianity.

Having said all that, I have to put in a word of caution now that I read the transcript of the new session September 18, 2021.

(Pierre) I'm trying to reconcile the AD timeline of history and the BP timeline, ice cores and dendrochronology. There seems to be one matching marker at 536 AD - a year without summer, very cold, very bad weather - seemingly matching the 1500 BP mark with a converging cooling all over the planet revealed by ice cores and tree rings. So my question is: Is it a real match?

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) In a previous session you mentioned about 470 years added between us and Julius Caesar. If it matches, it means these 470 years were added before 536 AD?

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) It means Caesar died about 70 years before this 536 event?

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) Wow. It means there's no late or middle Roman Empire!

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) Everything is collapsing. Yes, yes, yes. It's all gone. That's what we thought.

(L) And documents were faked to fill in the gap.

(Niall) Fake emperors and stuff.

(Joe) If there's a kind of rough mirror in this go-round, first Caesar and then a Dark Ages and collapse... And then in our era, a close match might be JFK as this era's Caesar. 1963. Plus 70 years is 2033.

(Pierre) Oh, I see what you mean.

(Niall) So 70 years after Caesar's death. So it's 44 BC. What's 44 + 70? So it's right after the fall, kaboom, it's gone. In fact, Paul didn't live very long.

(Pierre) Kaboom, and you transition to the Justinian plague.

(L) So in other words, Paul was right: the end of the world WAS coming?

A: Yes

Q: (Pierre) And the 2 or 3 missing centuries after the Justinian plague, they were not made up. They were there, but there was nothing going on because everybody was dead!

(L) Yeah, 90% death rate in the archaeology around Rome.

(Joe) Does that mean that JFK and Laura are this era's Caesar and Paul? [laughter]

(L) Oh, stop it! [laughter]

(Joe) Well, answer the question!

A: Silly!

Q: (Joe) Silly? That means yes.

(Niall) But when was the Jewish War then? And Josephus? That would have to be AFTER the collapse...

(Joe) Where's your Jewish War, Laura?

(L) I don't think there was a Jewish War.

(Joe) Somebody could have just been writing a fairytale...

(L) There was stuff going on at that time, like rebellion, but... Sorting out that MESS would be a labor of Hercules. I mean, Hercules was asked to clean the Augean stables. He was not asked to refill them. [laughter]

(Joe) All those events can be... I mean, you take events that happened in our recent history and you imagine someone chronicling that, you could expand that out over a long period of time. The amount of stuff that has happened if you took discrete events over the past 20 years, you could expand those out over a long period of time if you want.

(L) Sure. You could just write stuff and make some editorial changes, add stuff, re-use stories, and... I mean, look what I found that happened with Gregory of Tours vs. the Eastern Empire records. The whole history of Gregory of Tours fits into a slot that is completely blank in the records of the Eastern Empire. It's as though they stole that material and used it to write his history. God, how many times did they do that... Alright, anybody else have any questions? I'm getting depressed. [laughter]

(Chu) I have a related one. With all this fudging of history, is it true that there was never any vulgar Latin, and the chronology as it's depicted is wrong?

A: Yes

Q: (L) It affects everything - EVERYTHING. It's like a falling domino. It's enough to make you want to run out of the house screaming!

(PoB) I have a question. Was seeding Communism at the beginning of the 19th century more or less a rehearsal to what seems to be developing now?

A: Partly. It is all part of the bigger picture.

214 On this tapestry was portrayed a panorama of the heavens, the signs of the Zodiac excepted.
Thank you very much for this.
So, after "all that was mystical in the heavens", "everything in the heavens" and "used for the celestial theory"
we have now a "panorama of the heavens".
Which of the Greek words is the relevant one and what is the "core" of it's meaning? "Panorama" would point to something like a star map?

The reason I poke this point so much is, because I would like to have some approximate conception what they have depicted there on their most holy piece of fabric in the whole kingdom. It is supposed to be "a Babylonian curtain, embroidered with...this mixture of colors with [...] mystical interpretation, ... a kind of image of the universe". We know at least that there is a conception of the four elements Fire, Water, Air, and Earth involved. Thats basically the same as the meaning of the glyph "Seal of Salomo / Star of David".

To help you make that decision, I'll give you a word for word translation based on my Greek dictionary I still have retained from my schooldays:

κατεγέγραπτο δ᾿- written on/portrayed on
ὁ πέπλος - the cloth/curtain
ἅπασαν - entire/complete
τὴν οὐράνιον - the heavenly
θεωρίαν - spectacle/show
πλὴν - except (for)
τῶν ζῳδίω - the images/figurines/zodiac

Yes, I understood and do agree. It's important enough to make absolutely sure what it looked like. I hope you're satisfied now. If not, please do tell.

This is very useful, most sincere thanks.
Mmm...so θεωρίαν is it.
DeepL gives "theory" as translation.
'Heavenly spectacle' without zodiac could/should be the "Wandelsterne" (wandering stars) = the 'planets'.
Ra: I am Ra. ...You may choose astrology, the twelve signs, as you call these portions of your planet’s energy web, and what has been called the ten planets.
Ten planets ... 10 sephiroth.

Wikipedia tattles:
Traditional practitioners believe its earliest origins pre-date world religions, forming the primordial blueprint for Creation's philosophies, religions, sciences, arts, and political systems.[9] Historically, Kabbalah emerged from earlier forms of Jewish mysticism, in 12th- to 13th-century Spain and Southern France,[3][7] and was reinterpreted during the Jewish mystical renaissance in 16th-century Ottoman Palestine.[3] Isaac Luria is considered the father of contemporary Kabbalah... Kabbalah - Wikipedia
Mmm...Mmm....
A hint ... that a pictorial conception of "Kabbalah" was already present in the Second temple - taken from Babylon?
...Or that something like it was known in "78 AD" - so that you could at least spin it in 'stories'?
...Or that "Josephus" is from the "12th- to 13th-century" - whenever that might have been?

Mmm...Mmm...Mmm...:knitting:

I seem to have read somewhere (but can't remember where exactly) that all the Jewish Second Temple attributes, which may have included the said curtain, were confiscated by the Romans after the conquest and before the utter destruction of Jerusalem - and were later on paraded on display during the triumph of Vespasian and Titus in Rome, some time around 73-75AD.

It could've been mentioned by Laura in her book on Paul/Paleo-Christianity but I'm not sure of that. In any case, that would explain why Josephus knew what it looked like.

You are quite correct. The parading of the looted Temple artefacts is depicted on the triumphal Arch of Vespasian and Titus in Rome.
See The Arch of Titus, Rome. I have never read of the Temple curtain being listed though as part of that booty.

Buried in Galle 2

This article is a follow-up to an article I originally posted on 27 May 2021. See Alton Towers, Sir Francis Bacon and the Rosicrucians

In that article I discussed, amongst other things, the archaeological finds made at the Drachenloch (Dragon's Lair) in Switzerland when it was excavated between 1917 and 1923. The remains of more than 30,000 cave bears (Ursus Spelaeus) gave the cave its name. Drachenloch is near Vattis in the Swiss Alps, which in turn is located within the Swiss Canton of St Gallen. Inside the cave the archaeologists discovered an altar, which consisted of a rectangular stone chest with a great stone slab as a lid. Inside the chest seven bear skulls had been placed with their muzzles pointing to the entrance of the cave. Another heap of bones contained the skull of a bear through which a leg bone had been forced with the skull resting upon two other long bones, each bone was from a different beast (therefore resembling the famous skull and cross bones motif of the Knight Templar).

The fact that this cave happened to be in the vicinity of St Gallen made me wonder whether there was a link with what the C’s had said was buried in Galle. I speculated whether the Holy Grail, if it was a stone as Wolfram von Eschenbach had claimed in his famous work Parzival, could have been what the C’s were alluding to in the Session dated 13 June 1998:

A: What does stein mean, is it "written in stone?"

Q: Stein as in 'grail,' and stone as in 'philosopher's'
[stone]. So, maybe we are getting close.

A: What does Einstein mean?

Q: 'One stone.' And a stein is a cup and a stone at the same time. So, Triesen is in the 'beautiful countryside between the Rhine and the alpine world.' There is an alp called Lawena, nearby Lake Constance, and the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. You said something about being buried in 'Galle' and this seems to have all the related elements collected together... all the key words... so am I...

A: On the right track? It looks good.

In a subsequent session on 10 October 1998 the C’s elaborated further on the treasure in the Rhineland:

Q: Is there a time gate where this treasure is buried in the Rhineland?

A: Stones.

Q: Is there any clue you can give me as to what to be looking for specifically?

A: And you shall find that.

In my researches into John Dee, I have become aware of a stone that was discovered in Switzerland in the 16th century, in this case a marble slab. Now I have not been able to determine where in Switzerland this artefact was found, so I cannot at this stage link it directly with St Gallen or its environs. Nevertheless, I think it is still worth bringing to everyone’s attention since the marble stone when it was found had huge significance to classical scholars of the 16th century, given what was inscribed on it. Moreover, the C’s had said: “What does stein mean, is it "written in stone?" What was written on this particular stone, even if it is not connected to the stones the C‘s were speaking of, may still have great import to us at this present time, as it seems to tie-in with what the C’s have been warning us about ever since 1994.

The Fiery Trigon

In a previous article on John Dee, I mentioned how the sight of a nova in the constellation of Cassiopaea had John Dee and other European astronomers such as Tycho Brahe, who made a detailed account of the nova, very interested. I pointed out that the appearance of this nova had immense implications for the existing cosmological, theological and political order of the day since it might challenge the entrenched belief and old Ptolemaic world view that the universe revolved around the earth. The providential appearance of the new star gave the supporters of the Copernican theory of the ‘heliocentric universe’ a chance to settle the matter once and for all. However, for men like Dee and Brahe there was a specific astrological reason why the new star challenged the ‘deep irreligious policy’ of cosmic stability since in the year 1583, an extraordinary event was due to take place in the heavens – the transition to the ‘Fiery Trigon

Quoting loosely from Benjamin Woolley writing in The Queen’s Conjuror, the equilateral triangle is considered to be the perfect triangular shape since all three sides are equal as are the angles of all three corners and it is this form of triangle that produces the astrological trigon. Every twenty years Jupiter and Saturn (then considered to be the two outer planets) line up with one another, thereby entering into a conjunction. Every time they do so, it is within a different sign or house of the zodiac. However, for around ten of these trigons, the different signs in which they align all happen to be members of the same trigon. After roughly two hundred years, they align with a sign that is a member of a different trigon. For astrologers this signified a two-hundred year cycle, with each two-hundred year period being an epoch ruled by the trigon, and therefore its associated element, in which Jupiter and Saturn are conjoined.

Woolley points out that in 1583, just such an epoch was due to come to an end and be succeeded by another, with a conjunction predicted on 28th April 1583 in the last face (phase) of Pisces, the final sign of the watery trigon. In astrological terms this was momentous enough. However, this event was of even greater significance because the next conjunction marked when the cycle had worked through all the combinations of signs of the zodiac and was about to return to the primary one – the ‘fiery trigon’. This cycle, the greatest of all, took nearly 960 years to complete and, as astrologers had noted, previous transitions had marked the onset of momentous times. Apparently, Ptolemy himself had shown that each conjunction within a trigon was associated with a particular part of the world and the forthcoming occurrence within the sign of Aries he had linked to Britain and Germany. Given that Rosicrucians in Britain and Germany would play such a prominent role in producing and promoting the Rosicrucian Manifestos in the 17th century, this prediction of Ptolemy may be highly significant.

To emphasise this point allied with the importance of the supernova in Cassiopaea let me recap here what the C’s said on the subject in the session dated 7th June 1997:

Q: Supposedly, Christian Rosencruetz was initiated by the 'philosophers of Dancar.' I want to know where this blasted place is! Okay, skip it. One of the Rosicrucian manifestos said: 'God has sent messengers and signs in the heavens, namely the new stars in Serpentarius and Cygnus, to show that a great council of the elect is to take place.' What do they mean by a 'great council of the elect?'

A: Pyrenees.

Q: Okay, the purported enclave of the alchemists... Why was it signified by new stars in Serpentarius and Cygnus? What do they represent?

A: Novae.

This same theme also continued in this further exchange:

“Q: In reading the Celtic legends, I discovered that Cassiopaea was equated with Danu, or Don, as in Tuatha de Danaan, or the court of the goddess Danu. So, in other words, the supreme goddess of the Aryans was Cassiopaea. And, Cassiopaea is found in the zodiacal area of Aries, the 'lamb,' where Cephus the 'rock' and 'king' is also found, as well as Perseus, 'he who breaks' and serpentarius. {Just noticed that the previous question about the supernova in Serpentarius could be a reference to the supernova in Cassiopeia by this grouping method.} The image is of Perseus overcoming the serpent, and the ancient Celtic engravings of the horned god show him gripping two serpents by the throat. I would like to understand the symbology here...

A: You are on the right track.”

And finally there was also the following exchange on the subject of the supernova in Cassiopaea in the session dated 5 September 1998:

“Q: (L) Now, formerly I asked about the 'two new stars in
Cygnus and Serpentarius' that were written about in the
Rosicrucian Manifesto of about this period of time, and
you said they were talking about 'novae.' But, it seems
that there are no new stars in either of these
constellations. Yet, at approximately this time, was the
supernova in Cassiopaea.

A: Yes, those with foreknowledge were looking.”

Given what has been said about the Fiery Trigon above, I would suggest that John Dee was one of those who had such foreknowledge and was looking.

Quoting Dawkins on the importance of all of this to the Rosicrucians:

“A supernova in Cassiopeia appeared dramatically in the sky from 1572 to 1574 and was taken [by the Rosicrucians] as a sign of the birth of a child to the Virgin Queen, or the appearance of a great light in that part of the world representing the Virgin Queen, Cassiopeia. At that time, the part of the world corresponding to Cassiopeia was the British Isles – England in particular – and an earthly queen always equates in tradition as personifying the land.

Robert Fludd wrote, in his Tractis Apoligetica (1617), that the “new star” of 1572 marked the beginning of the Rosicrucian work, which then continued to be prepared in secret until the 1603-04 planetary conjunctions and appearance of the new stars in Cygnus and Ophiuchus* [Serpentario], which was a sign to the Fraternity for them to emerge from their period of secrecy, expand their membership and begin the restoration of the world.”

*I shall have more to say about the significance of Ophiuchus in an upcoming further post on Poussin’s ‘Shepherds of Arcadia’ painting.

The appearance of the Nova in Cassiopaea was thus taken to be a herald of an epochal event, a divine signal to the world’s astrologers that the global order was about to be transformed. For example the English writer Richard Harvey wrote the following in his essay, An Astrological Discourse, on the conjunction:

“[The] watery Trigon shall perish and be turned into fire … I am astrologically induced to conjecture that we are most likely to have a new world, by some sudden, violent & wonderful strange alteration, which ere heretofore hath always happened. At the end of one Trigon, & beginning of another”.

John Strype, looking back from the following century, observed that: “All Europe stood at gaze, vehemently expecting more strange and terrible alterations than ever happened since the world began.” In the midst of the Protestant Reformation and on the cusp of the Thirty Years War (one of the most terrible conflicts to grip Europe until modern times) and at the birth of the scientific revolution, such expectations could hardly be called exaggerated.

The Prophecy of Sibylla Tiburtina

The Nova in Cassiopaea also seemed to fulfil a widely-circulated prophecy attributed to the ancient sibyl Tiburtina as inscribed on a marble slab buried in a Swiss mountain, which had been discovered in 1520 – although I cannot find out where exactly. The word sibyl comes (via Latin) from the Greek word “sibylla”, meaning "prophetess". The Tiburtine Sibyl or Albunea was a Roman sibyl whose seat was the ancient Etruscan town of Tibur (modern day Tivoli). Tiburtina, the tenth sibyl, had been added by the Romans to the traditional nine Greek sibyls; a female prophetess dedicated to Apollo who was supposed to have prophesied the coming of the Christian Emperor Constantine (a pseudo-prophecy from c. 380 AD does actually exist). According to Christian legend, she foretold the coming of Christ to the Emperor Augustus.

See Tiburtine Sibyl - Wikipedia

Why should astrologers and scholars think Tiburtina’s prophecy was being fulfilled by the appearance of the Nova? Well on the marble slab she had foretold the following:

A Star shall arise in Europe over the Iberians, towards the Great House of the North whose beams shall unexpectedly enlighten the whole World … which we be followed by direful and frightful and bloody Comets and flashings of Fire seen in the Heavens. The Firmament of Heaven shall be dissolved and the Planets shall be opposed in contrary course, the Spheares shall justle [sic] one amongst another and the fixed Stars move faster than the Planets.

As Tiburtina had predicted soon after the disappearance of the Nova in 1574, the heavenly upheavals continued with the sudden appearance of a comet or ‘blazing star’ in 1577, the sight of which terrified Europe. John Dee who had been discussing with Queen Elizabeth the exploration of the New World at Windsor Castle wrote in his diary how the comet had reduced the court to a state of ‘great fear and doubt’. When Elizabeth sought Dee’s advice on the matter he would seem to have told her not to fear it dismissing it as the traditional portent of plague and famines associated with comets. Indeed, Dee viewed it not as a portent of Elizabeth’s destruction but as one of her elevation, the fulfilment of a destiny greater than even she might have imagined.

A series of pamphlets were also produced discussing the comet’s astrological significance. Its appearance in the seventh astrological house, relating to marriage, induced anxieties about Church disunity and the failure of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II and Queen Elizabeth to marry. The ill omens continued. On 6 April 1580, as Dee recorded in his diary, a major earthquake (a fairly rare occurrence in England) shook the whole country for two minutes. Its epicentre was London where the shocks were so intense that bells across the city spontaneously tolled. Along the south coast of England there were reports of the sea foaming, ships swaying and cliffs collapsing. On 10 October 1580, another blazing star appeared in the constellation of Pisces and Dee noted its disappearance a month later. Moreover, on the 8 March 1582, the day before Edward Talbot (Kelley) had first appeared at Dee’s house, the skies over Mortlake were filled with the ‘flashings of fire’ anticipated by Tiburtina.

In spite of all the gloomy prognostications, Queen Elizabeth and England were not destroyed and would go on to enjoy a golden age of exploration and scientific and literary advancement. Was England (or Britain), therefore, Tiburtina’s ‘Great House of the North’ “whose beams shall unexpectedly enlighten the whole World”? Who knows? However, I am more interested in the second part of her prophecy where she spoke of “The Firmament of Heaven shall be dissolved and the Planets shall be opposed in contrary course, the Spheares shall justle [sic] one amongst another and the fixed Stars move faster than the Planet.” To me this seems far more apocalyptic in tone and more akin to the prophecies for the end of time given by Jesus and the prophet Daniel. Indeed, I suggest this prophecy may fit better with what the C’s have told us about the impact on the sun and the solar system when the Dark Star (Nemesis) makes its nearest approach to the inner solar system. There is no evidence that the known planets left their normal orbits in Dee’s time yet this is what the C’s have warned may happen when the Dark Star approaches (the circuit will be set running). If instead Tiburtina meant that the Great House of the North was Russia (the Bear – Ursa Major), this might have more significance for us today, given what is happening right now in the world. It might therefore help to take a look at a fuller treatment of the prophecy inscribed on the marble slab:

THE Prophecie of SIBYLLA TIBƲRTINA found in Anno 1520. in Switzerland ingraven on a Marble stone.

ORietour Sydous in Europa soupra Iberos ad magnam Septentrionis do∣nium.

For almost at the same time that this starre is sunke downe, a light as an∣tient as the former, or of the same age, burning with farre more eager flames of warre, shall shut up his government to the coasts of the Antipodes.

Which being extinguished, and after the threatnings of the Gods, bloody Comets, fiery face of Heaven, there shall then be no more safety any where.

Os{que} animantibus coeli firmamentum pugnantibous{que} planeteis & contrarieis corsibous labefactabitour.

Untill the firmament of Heaven with its living creatures and justling Planets in their contrary courses do slide away or be destroyed.

Concurrent orbibous orbeis, fixae cursu antevertent erraticas, aequabount aequora montes.

Each Orbe shall contend with another, the fixed starres shall overgo the wandring Planets, the seas shall equall the mountaines.

Haec omnia deni{que} erunt nox, interritus, rovina, dampnatio ac aeternaï tenebraï.

To conclude, all these things shall come to passe, night, destruction, ruine, calamity and eternall darknesse.

I trust you will agree with me that this fuller treatment of the prophecy (translated from the original Latin) suggests something far more apocalyptic than what transpired in the late 16th century. This seems far more like a prophecy of the end of our world as we know it and more akin to the fate that befell Atlantis.

Here is a further contemporary English commentary on the prophecy:

The Paraphrase.

THE Author of this Prophecie was Sibilla Tiburtina, the last of those ten Sibills which the antients had in such esteeme, of whom Lactantius and S. Augustine make mention: some late Authors have recounted more, viz. Sibilla Europaea, and Agrippina; but I have seene as yet none of their works: At what time our Sibilla lived it doth not appeare: this Prophecie was discovered by the force of a violent flood washing away the earth in Anno 1520. in Switzerland: It was much esteemed, and a coppy hereof was presently transmitted to Rome, and severall expositions framed, some fan∣cying Charles the fift, others Phillip of Spaine, some the King of France, all shot besides the marke, the person shall not be of any of those Nations, he shall be of a more obscure and remote Countrey: I looke to erre my selfe, yet perhaps my arrow will fall neare the marke, I would no• hit the white. The illustrious Tycho repeats this Prophecie, and saith it was worthy of observation, but gives no Comment.

Page 25

At my first entrance I find some obstruction in the word Sidus, which naturally signifies a signe in Heaven consisting of many starres, or a constel∣lation of many joyned to or neare together, and not properly one Starre, which is usually expressed by Stella, à stando: if this be the mean••• of the word Sidus, the Prophetesse tells us, that in the latter dayes there should arise a people or State inhabiting neare the farthest Northerne habitable part of Europe: (Tycho thought the Iberi herein mentioned t•〈◊〉 those which inhabit Northward towards Muscovia, to be the people intended by Sibilla:) that they I say and their Armies should upon the suddaine, when least suspected, give cause of wonder all over the world: or let us conceive that Sibilla intended there was to come a King borne very farre North∣ward, that by his own personall valour and atchievement,* and of his Offi∣cers at home and abroad should bring the world in suspence of his successe, and that this Prince should be fore-shewed to the world long before his comming by some Comet verticall especially to that continent.

But this man or peoples comming or first appearances shall not be abso∣lutely in a time of warre or peace; it shall be, when almost all Nations wea∣ried with either forraigne or domestique warre, shall unanimously be desi∣rous of peace; the truth is, it will be whenas most Nations have so weake∣ned themselves they can resist no longer, then this Nation or this King, lurking and catching advantage all the while, shall first manifest their intentions. The certaine yeare cannot be knowne, but here is light given whereby it may more easily be discerned, that the first appearance of this flashing Starre shall be immediately after the decease of some principall King, and before the accesse of an other to the Crown; that is in the vacan∣cy of a Governour or Monarch: In which time there will be some buzling who shall rule. The governement at last she saith shall be possessed by the offspring of the most antient lineage; which will not so rest contented with one only Crowne, but will proceed to further trouble, untill they find themselves cut off by a stronger hand, so that the first pretender and his offspring and family are cut off; when ever this is, and it will not be long in doing, there starts up a progeny as antient as the former, and he makes work to purpose, viz. more fierce and cruell warres then his predecessor, and inlarges his confines to the borders of the Antipodes; whereby is meant, he conquers many Nations, and where ever he sets footing with his Army; but we are given to understand, that before he make such victorious ex∣cursions, he shall yoake and subdue France; and that Britannia shall humbly crave his assistance; as also Italy taking things something ill, mi∣strusting Page 26 and envying this starres greatnesse, will lend him small assistance, &c. for the Italian had rather himselfe attaine this honour, but shall not; To proceed, this glorious starre that in a moment fills all Kingdomes of Europe with admiration and expectancy, before his naturall time ends his dayes, leaving such a fame behind him as few shall ever attaine the like. After the extinguishment of this light or a second Alexander, she saith there will be many prodegies in the aire, &c. and that the Planets sh•ll moove in a contrary course or irregularly; that is, all the world againe shall bestirre themselves, so that no safety of person will be any where; One King or Prince shall quarrell with an other, and every one shall doe things contrary to Law, Justice and reason, and take quite contrary courses to pre∣sidents of former times, every man shall be in action one against an other; but see the issue of this dissention, the fixed Starres in their motion shall outgoe the Planets, (a thing in nature impossible:) the Planets have re∣presentation of Kings, Governours, Rulers, Gentry, Nobility, &c. the fixed Starres being in number many, have naturally the signification of the com∣mon people; the motion of the Planets is exceeding swift, of the fixed Starres very slow; Now if it happen the fixed Starres or commonalty in vertue and goodnesse, or in motion, over-run the Planets in their courses, or out-strip the Gentry in power or vertue, then judge the event. But such a thing shall assuredly come to passe, the sense is twice reiterated, the seas shall be equall with the mountaines, the sea is the people, mountaines are Kings and Rulers: This is an advantagious admonishment to the Mo∣narchs, Nobility and Gentry of Europe, to be just and loving to their sub∣j•cts, servants and tenants, to live vertuously, and to be a light or candle al∣way shining before the eyes of their people; that they beware of private dissentions, least they thereby diminish their power and authority, for you may see the common people signified by the fixed Starres and the seas will at length take hold of it, and indeavour to procure the reines of go∣vernment to themselves and into their hands; when these things come to passe, a world of mischiefe followes, and long it will be ere the misery that warre brings upon the world will be repaired; These things saith Sibilla shall surely come to passe, and then is night, destruction, &c. I have seene some English Prophecies intimate as much to happen in England; one whereof saith, when the sea ruleth all the land, farewell the mirth of mer∣ry England: the Mare shall breake her halter: I have heard many Gentle∣men complain, of the meanenesse and insufficiency of many vulgar men now in severall Countries imployed by our State, greatly to the dishonour of the Page 27 Gentry, and prejudice of the service: but in time it will turne to a further mischiefe: Coridon knowes how to obey not to command. Ne sutor: is an excellent proverbe: Let the example of Bishops that had good educati∣on teach us, &c.

Ambrose Merline the Welsh Prophet he intimates as much; saying, Currus Lunae turbabit Zodiacum, & in fletum prorumpent Pleiades. The Cha∣riot of the Moone shall disturbe the Zodiack, and the Pleiades shall breake forth into lamentations. The sence of the Prophet is, that towards the latter end of the Brittish Monarchy, the Common people should disturbe all law and civill Government, and exceed their former bounds, and contemne and despise their superiours, but you shall see what followes; by Pleiades, he shewes a tumultuous company of people by these rash actions, shall cause much lamentation and weeping amongst themselves and to others; and this is the issue of unruly tumults.

Could Tiburtina’s ‘King borne very farre Northward’ be Vladimir Putin (born in Saint Petersburg) I wonder? I set out below a post by a Forum member who put a very interesting spin on the famous prophecy of Michel Nostradamus concerning the Great King of Terror, which may refer to a comet (the 3,600 year cycle cometary cluster) or perhaps the Dark Star – Nemesis. The post starts with an exchange between Laura and the C’s on the famous prophecy:

(L) Regarding this prophecy of Nostradamus and Comet Lee, we discovered that a fellow named Peter Lemesurier went back to the original editions of the seer's work and found that a misplaced apostrophe changed the word 'appeaser' to 'terror' so that it is NOT the 'Great King of Terror' but the 'Appeaser King' that is connected to the 'seventh month' of 1999. Of course, the standard interpretations say that whatever it is, it is going to 'bring back' the 'Great King of the Mongols,' which they are identifying as Kublai Khan or Genghis Khan. Could you comment on this?

A: Comment? How so?

Q: What could an 'appeaser king' imply? What could it mean?

A: You have the power to define these terms.

Q: (L) Yeah, but there are only so many hours in the day! But, an 'appeaser' is one who brings peace or 'pacifies' or 'quiets' by giving into demands. It can also mean to 'satisfy' or 'relieve.' The only thing that fits in these terms with 'king' - the only person I can think of who NEEDS to 'satisfy' or 'relieve' is Prince Charles, and he has a sort of 'debt' to pay the British public for the death of Princess Diana, or so it is perceived. But, the only way he could be king would be if Queen Elizabeth dies. So, is this a prediction of the death of Queen Elizabeth and the accession of Charles as king and his repudiation of Camilla? Am I onto something here?

A: Maybe.

Q: (F) But how would he bring back the 'king of the Mongols?' (L) I don't know. The 'king of the Mongols' could be related to having a harem or something... give us a clue here on this!

A: No.

Nostradamus’s Century 10 Quatrain 72 prediction in French:

L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois
Du ciel viendra un grand Roy deffraieur
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois.
Avant apres Mars regner par bon heur

And in English:
The year thousand nine hundred ninety nine seven months
Of heaven shall come a great King defrayer (redeemer)
To bring to life again the great King of Angolmois.
Before after Mars reigns by good luck.

I understand that we should not always take such predictions in a literal sense, but this particular one strikes me with its precision to dates and their relevance to the current state of affairs.

Among world politicians and leaders of our times Vladimir Putin is among the very few who fits the description of the ‘Appeaser’ King.

March could mean Mars. Presidential elections were held in Russia on 26 March 2000. Incumbent Prime Minister and acting President Vladimir Putin, who had succeeded Boris Yeltsin on his resignation on 31 December 1999, won the elections in the first round. Prior to that on Aug. 9, 1999, President Boris Yeltsin stunned Russia with his televised announcement of Vladimir Putin's appointment as prime minister, as well as his characterization of the new appointee as his successor.

However Nostradamus mentions 7 months, meaning the event he was talking about was supposed to take place in July, not August. So there is a difference in the prediction and Putin's appointment as prime minister in at least 10 days. But the difference can be explained by the fact that the Gregorian calendar we use today was introduced in February 1582 after Nostradamus death on July 2 1566. The Gregorian calendar began by skipping 10 calendar days, to restore 21 March as the date of the vernal equinox.

The ‘Appeaser King’ will bring back the King of Angolmois. Most commentators say Angolmois is an anagram for Mongoulois, or Mongolian, even though there is not an “a” in Mongoulois, which is needed to create Mongoulois from Angolmois. It may be a very big assumption, but if Nostradamus did mean “King of Mongols” then this quatrain could be telling us that the ‘Appeaser King’ will bring back to life the King of Mongols.
Who is the most famous mongol? Genghis Khan.

I think Sergey Shoygu, Putin’s long-time ally, might be a descendant of Genghis Khan. Sergey Shoigu is Defense Minister of the Russian Federation as of November 6, 2012. Previously, Shoigu was Minister of the Russian Federation for Affairs of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief for 18 years.¬ Sergey Kozhugetovich (patronymic) Shoigu was born in the town of Chadan in the Republic of Tuva (Tyva) into a family with deep historical roots dating back to Genghis Khan times. Sergey’s father’s first name was Shoygu and his last name was Kozhuget. Under the law Shoygu’s name should have been Sergey Shoyguvich Kozhuget, which unveils the secret of Sergey’s ancestry. But allegedly due to the oversight of the passport officer in 1971 Sergey’s name became Sergey Kozhugetovich Shoigu.

Kuzhuget/Kozhuget is a last name of people from the Baryn-Hemchiksky area of the Republic of Tuva, Russia. The tribe of Kuzhuget belongs to a group called Uryankhayets, who lived in the area historically called Uryankhay/ Uriangqai/Uriankhai/Uriangqad. The Republic of Tuva between 1914 and 1921 was called Uryankhaisky Kray. Today by the people of Tuva Chinghiz Khan is recognized … as the Tuvinian.

It is possible that there is a spiritual and perhaps even a genetic connection between the people of Uryankhay and Genghis Khan. The Uriangqai tribe plays an important role in the history of the sacred mountain Burkhan Khaldun /Burqan Khaldun /Burkhan Qaldun, /Bourhan Qaldun. The Burkhan Khaldun (48°45′14″N 108°39′49.5″E) is a mountain of the Khentii Mountains in the Khentii Province of current Mongolia. The mountain and/or its proximity are rumored to be the birthplace of Genghis Khan, as well as the place of his shamanic initiation and a purported location of his tomb. The most ancient Mongolian historical opus The Secret History of the Mongols in the paragraph 9 it says that the members of the tribe Uriangqai (Uriankhai, Uriangqad) , “Burgan Bosqaysan and Sinci Bayan, Lords of [Mount] Burqan Qaldun.“ Thus we can assume that the Burkhan Khaldun was the land where the people of Uriangqai resided even before Genghis Khan was born. And this is how Urgunge Onon translated the same sentence: “Shinchi-bayan established [shamanistic] deities as the spirit-lords Burqan-Khaldun while he was travelling in the direction of Uri[y]angqai.” Based on this translation we can assume that the member of the Uriangqai tribe Shinchi-bayan (Shinchi the Rich) had some spiritual connection to Burkhan Khaldun. He could have prayed there, or established a sacred place, or performed some rituals there. The only way to find out is to read and understand the original Mongolian text of The Secret History of the Mongols. Most translators for some reason say that the men of Urianqai Burgan Bosqaysan and Sinci Bayan were the land lords of Burkhan Khaldun, meaning that the land on which Genghis Khan presumably was born and later buried belonged to the Uryankhayets. In Genghis Khan's army the warriors of Uryankhay were something like an elite guard, and the famous general of Genghis Khan’s army, Subutai was Uryankhayets (Tuvinian).

After Genghis Khan’s death the area around Burkhan Khaldun was named Ikh Khorig, meaning the “Great Taboo”, or the “Forbidden Zone.” Russian historian Hara-Davan Erendzhen in his research about Genghis Khan writes that his grave is “overgrown by dense woods. The keepers of this large forbidden place were the Uryankhayets.” The ban remained in force until 1989, when the Mongolian government allowed in the first visitors and archaeological expeditions.

Based on the connection presented above we can assume that Nostradamus was trying to say that the ‘Appeaser King’ Putin will bring back to life the King of Mongols Shoygu. I will not be surprised if Shoygu is going to become a president of Russia after Putin.

Well I don’t know much about this Shoygu* fellow but is it feasible that Putin could be Nostradamus’s ‘Appeaser King’?

*According to Wikipedia, Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu (b. May 1955) is a Russian politician and General of the Army who has served as Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation and as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Defence of the CIS since 2012.

This is very useful, most sincere thanks.
Mmm...so θεωρίαν is it.
DeepL gives "theory" as translation.
'Heavenly spectacle' without zodiac could/should be the "Wandelsterne" (wandering stars) = the 'planets'.

Ten planets ... 10 sephiroth.

Wikipedia tattles:

Mmm...Mmm....
A hint ... that a pictorial conception of "Kabbalah" was already present in the Second temple - taken from Babylon?
...Or that something like it was known in "78 AD" - so that you could at least spin it in 'stories'?
...Or that "Josephus" is from the "12th- to 13th-century" - whenever that might have been?

Mmm...Mmm...Mmm...:knitting:
"Ten planets ... 10 sephiroth."

It is interesting to note that the C's have told us the solar system really consists of 12 planets (counting Pluto still as a planet - as the C's did). Mind you, the C's have also told us that Venus was an interloper and replaced Kentakkia some time after that planet exploded.

There is a theory that the vast temple complex at Teotihuacan near Mexico City is laid out in such a way that various buildings represent the planets at the correct proportional distance from the main pyramid - the Pyramid of the Sun. If this is true, it begs the question whether the people who built it (not the Aztecs) factored in the other three planets that the C's mentioned.

One has to difference between astronomical planets and astrological planets. There is a difference of the kind like between chemical Mercury or Sulfur and alchemical Mercury and Sulfur (or "the Element Water" and H2O). Note that the "scientific" notions have been taken from the earlier "occultistic" ones. But in this process there was also taking place a kind of "epistemological" reduction of the concepts.

Crowley tries to explain it in more detail here ("Theories of the Ancients" and the following paragraphs after that):

Also note what Ra actually says:

Ra: I am Ra. ...astrology, the twelve signs, as you call these portions of your planet’s energy web, and what has been called the ten planets. ...tarot with its twenty-two so-called Major Arcana. ... the so-called Tree of Life with its ten Sephiroth and the twenty-two relationships between the stations.

It is well to investigate each discipline, not as a dilettante, but as one who seeks the touchstone, one who wishes to feel the pull of the magnet. One of these studies will be more attractive to the seeker. Let the seeker then investigate the archetypical mind using, basically, one of these three disciplines. After a period of study, the discipline mastered sufficiently, the seeker may then complete the more important step: that is, the moving beyond the written in order to express in an unique fashion its understanding, if you may again pardon the noun, of the archetypical mind
