I have been micro-dosing for almost a week now.
I take about 0.3h of dry caps every morning on an empty stomach.
Overall, the experience is very positive so far.
I have noticed marked increase in focus and mood. Also my energy levels and strength have significantly increased, I can see this with the weights I am now able to lift effortlessly when training.
Being very tall and due to my work it was always a struggle to maintain proper posture, and my back was always achy to some extent at the end of the work day. Now I stand tall effortlessly all day and sit straight, body feels great, no aches or pains. 'Reset to factory settings' comes to mind again.
The effect on the mind is also remarkable, it is the feeling best described as consistent quiet happiness. The mind chatter is gone, negative thoughts or introjects are gone. My meditations have become much deeper, being in the present moment has entirely different quality now.
Dealing with difficult clients has become easy, there is this newly found capacity to empathize with people I didn't have any rapport before. I am judging less and observing and listening more.
Amanita seems to help with procrastination too, since I started I sorted out the pile of papers I was avoiding for months, I cleaned my dog's teeth - and I have been avoiding this for the last couple of years. I seem to accomplish a lot these days and I end days with satisfying feeing of good, productive day,
In short, I keep thinking: "This is how life should be, this is how we should be feeling all the time".
Haven't noticed any change in sleep yet. My sleep wasn't too bad to begin with, during the summer I had a problem going to bed early and during the last week I was quite disciplined and would be in bed before 10 PM.
There were few bumps in this road though, and I should mention it as a cautionary tale.
One day I tried to take second micro-dose in the evening. This was a big mistake.
I made a tea from 0.6 grams caps, simmered it for 49 minutes with added lemon juice. In theory this should have facilitated decarboxylation and achieve more muscimol which has relaxing effect and facilitates deeper sleep. However just opposite happened. The effect was incredible, considering that I took such a small dose, and not pleasant at all. Could not fall asleep for hours, and i kept getting strange images in front of my eyes. I interpreted these images as representations of all little I-s my false personality has.
Finally I managed to fall asleep, but was waking up every now and then. Following day I could still feel the efects, my nervous system seemed highly strung but I was still focused and able to function. Considering I hardly slept previous night I had loads of energy, however the feeling was just wierd. I skipped the dose that morning and at the end of the day I went to my usual yoga lesson, this is when the switch happend and my body and mind become relaxed. That night I went to bed at 9 and slept like a rock for 9 hours, woke up feeling completely restored, refreshed and strong. This feeling remained throughout the day.
I think it is very important to heed to Baba Masha's warning that The Less is More. If you going to try Amanita keep this in mind at all times! You might be feeling good and comfortable to increase the dose - but this is completely unnecesary.
It looks like I am extremely sensitive to Amanita and I discovered this harder way.
Also it seems that her recommendation about when to take it in the day is spot on. If you take it in the morning, and you feel energised and not sleepy then stick to this time. If it makes you sleepy then take it in the evening.
One dose is enough and you should never exceed 0.5 grams. Everyone seems to be unique in terms of response and that is why it is extremely important to thread softly, pay attention to your body and adjust accordingly.
My intuitive feeling is that messing with it by making tea (which seems to be very popular) and trying decarboxylation shortchanges full potential of this herb, I think when dry pieces are ingested in natural state your body processes them in most optimal way to reap the full benefit.
On Sunday I resumed the usual morning dose and was feeling great all day. However, in the evening I experinced something strange. All of the sudden I had subtle feeling of increased pressure in my head and I realised that my right ear hearing is impaired. The feeling is best described as if the volume in my right ear was turned down by about 40 percent. Luckily this did not last very long and after couple of hours everyhting went back to normal. There is a chance this was just due to water in my ear since I was in the pool that day but it felt different. Like some sort of reset of nerve sensitivity. In any case I thought it was worth mentioning it.
I purchased a bottle of tincture, I believe it's 2000 mg, 1 ounce (30ml) but I can't equate that into a mathematical formula of how many drops to take. Possibly a questionable vendor because I ordered it before I saw the list of approved ones.. The directions on the box say it's not to be ingested at all, I think because of FDA regulations. The dosage is one dropper but there are no markings on the dropper.
Being cautious, I just took two drops under my tongue before bed on Monday, but no chande in sleep. Last night I took three drops under my tongue and still no change. What I'm looking for, is help with sleep so I'm hesitant to take it in the morning, because I'm sensitive to things and I don't want to be all wired out all day, I already have high morning cortisol and anxiety. Then again, I just may be one of the people that it doesn't work on. I will keep experimenting slowly and perhaps try ordering something different from one of the approved vendors.

The tincture I got says: A. muscaria - Fully decarbed 30% alc. made of 3gr fresh A. muscaria per ml.
Start with 2 drops sublingual. after 1 hour 2 more drops to find your sweet spot.
Very interesting your experiences Z... and especially on the precautions to take.
The Amanita mushroom also appealed to me without knowing it, but I realized it when I read the October 19 session. Let me explain:
2 weeks earlier, I had listened to a series I watch with my partner about fictitious legal cases (it's a soap opera called “Les indéfendables”), and there was a story about a woman who had been accused of poisoning due to mushrooms she had picked. But she was mistaken: it was the “fly agaric” that had been harvested. Afterwards, she cooked her dried mushrooms in a meal that she shared with the family. Unfortunately, 2 people who had eaten them died. Don't forget that this is a fictional story, but for me, I knew that she wasn't responsible, but rather that it was negligence on her part.
During those two weeks, without thinking about the story described above, I wondered what product and cream I could find to massage my lower back, where I feel constant pain and tension. I also have sleep problems that are interrupted at night by discomfort, joint pain (shoulders and neck) and heat due to my menopause. So I often wake up in the morning feeling tired and lacking energy. In my heart, I'm hoping to find a natural product that could be my ally in relieving these tensions and physical pains. Especially as I've been doing gypsy/oriental dance for 2 years to help me regain flexibility in my pelvis and lower back, also my shoulders to my neck. I've also had osteopathic treatment and am currently undergoing treatment with an orthopedist to help release these muscular and joint tensions. But despite my efforts, the tension and pain are still there. However, I know that all these pains are also linked to memory blocks about my past and my experiences. So, for the past year, I've been on a progress path of introspection and transformation, trying as best I can to do the work we need to do to move forward, and the next step will be my diet.
Having said that, I was surprised to read about the amanita muscaria mushroom (being the fly-killing fungus I've observed before) in the October 19 session, and to see that it not only has a negative side, but also a beneficial side, and that it can bring muscular relief, as mentioned in the session:
(Z...) ...unravels her clinical survey of over 3000 subjects followed over several years and they all report significant improvement with a whole range of different medical conditions. This is still considered anecdotal evidence and up to this date there are no proper double blind studies. No serious scientist wants to touch the subject due to Amanita’s extremely bad press. So the question is, is micro dosing Amanita indeed helpful to restore sleep cycle and achieve good quality restful sleep?
(L) Is it useful for this purpose?
A: Yes generally.
Q: (Z...) If so, at what price?
(L) When you ask that, do you mean, is there a downside?
(Andromeda) Side effects?
(Z...) Exactly. Or also some sort of esoteric price that we have to pay.
A: Very little and easily balanced.
Q: (Z...) Is Amanita tincture applied externally on the affected limbs indeed helpful for neuromuscular conditions as claimed?
And in reading this information, I also found that it can be beneficial for the sleep cycle, so this also made me realize that it could help me with my sleep and my energy.
So I looked for suppliers where I could find a cream to apply externally, as well as a tincture that had been prepared specifically for sleep cycles. Living in Quebec, this wasn't easy, but I was able to find someone who sells and manufactures this kind of product with different mushrooms, including amanita muscaria, and she's located in Canada. I'm happy because I don't have to go through customs because in our country, it's illegal to do this kind of business, but with delivery within the country, it's incognito.
When I receive my order and start experimenting with these products, I'll try to give you a report on my experience, whether it was beneficial, negative or of no effect to me. As I'm sure it's different for everyone.
Thank you for introducing us to this unsuspected facet of Amanita.

Apparently it is very hard to find well documented cases of actual death caused by Amanita muscaria. However there is another member of Amanita family - Amanita phalloides which is highly toxic and deadly also known as Death Cap - 90 % of world mushroom fatalites are attributed to this mushroom.
Having said that Amanita muscaria always has to be treated with utmost respect and caution.
If it is used for recreational purposes i.e. for trips this mushroom is unforgiving. The trips on Amanita muscaria are stuff of nightmares and nobody in the right mind should ever reach to Amanita for this purpose. It is the worse possible scenario since Amanita muscaria in large doses is a dissociative mushroom and causes complete disconnection of mind from the body for several hours. This is extremely dangerous. Apparently Siberian shamans who used it for the “death of ego” would be buried up to their neck to prevent harm to the body whilst under the influence.
That is why if you cannot forage your own and you are going to ingest micro amounts it is very important to find verified supplier who supplies genuine AM and properly prepared.
I posted a list in one of the posts above.
For the purposes you wish to use - it seems it is most effective to apply tincture soaked wraps or poultices on the affected place. Oil extracts can also be used for this purpose. Balms are used mostly for skin issues and skin care and I suspect they are less effective for pain relief or anti inflammatory effect.
As far as I know Amanita Muscaria is illegal only in handful of countries namely: Australia, Romania, The Netherlands, and Thailand.
Regarding Canada I found this:
Yes, Amanita muscaria is legal in Canada. It is classified as a natural health product and subject to applicable regulation. Amanita muscaria is subject to regulation under the federal Food and Drugs Act. In 2022, Health Canada designated Amanita muscaria a natural health product.

Here is a guy (John Scott from Australia) that took Amanita muscaria by accident, wrote a book (God's Mountain…fascinating but hard to get) and have some YT interviews about it.
