These are really beautiful lyrics Nevic! I like the analogy of the love shared being like threads of silk. I can imagine an unclose look of the warp and weft threads and as each touches the other, this is how our love intertwines in our lives.....very nice indeed.

Do you write poetry? I have had moment sin my life where the poetry flows, and I think it is where I have had a bit of a breathing space in my life where I was more relaxed and able to indulge in exploring words, and sentiments. I find it vey cathartic with the expression of the words releases the feelings, feels very freeing!
 
Claude just recently became available in Europe.

Anthropic said its Claude assistant is highly fluent in French, German, Italian, Spanish, and other European languages.

While Claude.ai is already available for free on both web and mobile in the U.K., Anthropic says this is the first time the product is launching for users in the EU and non-EU countries like Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland.

The psycho Milei has great hopes for US Big Tech/Silicon Valley/AI to take over Argentina's economic liberalization. It leaves me with a pretty eerie feeling - the Zuckerbergs of the world let loose to take charge of an entire nation's economic decision-making. Or at least their algorithms let loose. It's like they're doing a test run for their 4th Industrial Revolution.

Milei hints at Big Tech plans for government

Artificial intelligence could be key to supercharging Argentina’s libertarian reforms, from education to government layoffs, President Javier Milei has suggested.

Milei was recently in the US, where he met with Silicon Valley magnates, including Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. The subject of AI came up in the meetings, Milei said in an interview with Radio Mitre.

“Meta has an entire system in place to train human capital, to train people so that, let’s say, they can build a career,” said Milei, adding that the government in Buenos Aires will start talks with the company “to implement artificial intelligence in the education of our children” starting this week.

The proposal has already been discussed with Human Capital Minister Sandra Pettovello, he noted.

Milei is also looking to AI to speed up the process of slashing the government in a way that would be “permanent and eternal,” in the words of his spokesman Manuel Adorni.


“For every job in the public sector, at least one job is lost in the private sector,” the president said on air. “Everything we do to shrink the size of the state results in more jobs in the private sector.”

Milei also suggested that El Salvador has already leveraged AI to carry out reforms. The Argentinian president has just returned from the inauguration of his Salvadorian colleague Nayib Bukele.

“Google has a system set up to reform the state with artificial intelligence. Do you know where it was successfully applied? In El Salvador,” Milei told Radio Mitre. “Do you think the discussions with Bukele were limited to the seven and a half minutes we allowed to be filmed?”

Everyone's mooning over Bukele, and I've wondered what's up with his rise to power. It's still unclear to me, but maybe Big Tech has made a move there, too.
 
This year marks the start of the AI hype across the board. All the big tech product conferences were filled with the pesky acronym, even if the products underwhelmed compared to the excitement shown while being presented. All of those products seem unfinished, even in beta stages. Being presented just for the sake of releasing something, except for Nvidia.

Nvidia is the real force behind AI. While Google, Meta, Microsoft and Apple showed pre-recorded videos or had small audiences while showing off their new products, Jensen Huang, Nvidia's CEO, was packing stadiums. And in the two big keynotes this year (in March and June), he presented several chips and computers that on paper look like we are entering a fast-tracked high tech timeline. The computational capacity is huge, several times what we have now, making Moore's Law obsolete!

But before continuing, a brief digression.

There are strong indicators that data center energy consumption will skyrocket in the next years. Some especulate that data center electricity consumption will double by 2026, from 460TWh in 2022, to more than 1,000 TWh by that year, blowing up forecasts made before 2022 (in 2021, this report said that data centers would require 321TWh by 2030 "if known growth factors remain the same," well, guess what?).

Returning to Nvidia, they claim that, on the contrary, what we'll see skyrocket is the computational capacity of these data centers, thanks to their highly efficient new chips and computers. They will do more with less. But, I don't think that data centers will try to reduce their energy bill, but instead, will try to pack in more computers. Just imagine the amount of electricity and electromagnetic fields that these places will generate, we are heading to unknown territory.

Though this does not guarantee good AI products, it means that big players with seemingly unlimited capacity and little or no restrictions will behave like kids in a candy store trying to "win the AI race" at the expense of common sense. And shipping personal computers with AI capabilities is one of those things, it may mean that the actual processing capacity will not be restricted to the limits of the data centers, it could be far greater.

If what Elon said about the Google founders is right, then most big tech CEOs are all-in in this race in a way that makes the IoT craze look like a mild itch in comparison.

Now, going on a relative tangent, it reminded me of the Atlantean crystal pyramids, who acquired some sort of conscience of its own and provoked the last fall of Atlantis, per the C's.

Perhaps we are on the brink of such fate being repeated, masked as a "tech advancement," the real risk of AI is of course not measured in these terms, let alone acknowledged.

I learned it just recently: Meta plans to feed their AI learning model with the data people share on these platforms: posts, videos, images aso. What isn't used, the company states, is any information shared privately in direct messages.

At least in Europe you can opt out, when you don't want this, but if I understand correctly only until the 26. of June, which is the day after tomorrow. At least that was the original date for Europe BUT as it turned out Meta had to pause their AI models launch in Europe due to a request of the Irish Data Protection Authorities. "The move by Meta came after complaints and a call by advocacy group NOYB to data protection authorities in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Spain to act against the company" (Reuters)

For those people in Europe who don't want their data arteficially consumed and digested the consumer protection in Germany for example recommands to still opt out now, since it's unclear if/how/when they will proceed. You can do this as follows:

"European users can go to the Settings page on the Instagram or Facebook app, then go to About > Privacy Policy where there'll be a new box with information regarding Meta AI including a link to an opt-out form called Right to object. Clicking the form will take you to a new page where you can select your country of residence, input your email address and give a (required) reason on "how this processing impacts you." Meta says on the form that it will "review objection requests in accordance with relevant data protection laws." This is slightly redundant -- and confusing -- language, as Europe's strict GDPR privacy laws mean Meta is obliged to honor all requests, regardless of reason" (description taken from a CNET article)

At this point the models are already trained on all our data, including this forum. I wouldn’t put on fb or anywhere on the public internet (or “private” but controlled by a corporation who makes your data their product) something private or personal as a rule of thumb. For everything else, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to let meta train from your posts? As long as your posts are truth focused, it would give the AI something to learn besides just the constant noise and propaganda encountered elsewhere.
 
I keep saying these datacenters are huge and its power requirements will only get bigger over time, huge electromagnetism farms.

Check out the consumption from this one in Ireland. From the article:

Ireland’s energy-hungry datacentres consumed more electricity last year than all of its urban homes combined, according to official figures.

The country’s growing fleet of datacentres used 21% of its electricity, an increase of a fifth on 2022, according to the Central Statistics Office.

It was the first year that datacentres supporting the Irish tech hub surpassed the electricity used by homes in its towns and cities, which consumed 18% of the grid’s total power last year.

It seems that a few people may still be a little confused about what the Computer Age / Information Economy / AI revolution has actually been doing for us.

Comment: "AI will improve productivity by widening the scope and scale of automation in manufacturing. AI will be able to automate the production of goods, freeing up humans to do work that is not monotonous assembly line labor."

Response: And just what would that work be? Let me guess: kneeling down, begging for spare change, and given the increasingly rare opportunity, passionately kissing the ass of one of the narcissistic billionaire nincompoops who have been using their wholly owned mass and social media to censor the public and cancel any visible shred of truth for the last several decades. (What a boon to humanity!)

Comment: "AI will be able to automate interactive services, freeing up humans from soul crushing jobs like working in call centers. AI will make humans more productive by automating and assisting in various fields such as programming & writing in general."

Response: I don't need "interactive services" that have been cooked up as busywork for the millions of people displaced from actual productive employment. Having been born in the era before computer automation of the (totally controlled, heavily throttled, truth-cancellative) "information economy", I'm quite sure that no one ever needed the AI Revolution other than the techie profiteers behind it. The trouble is, society has deteriorated immeasurably on their cynical money-grubbing watch. From the viewpoint of mankind, they were and remain the proverbial tits on a boar, except of course that they've fattened way more than any pig. To hold all their loot, you'd need a piggy bank the size of Mars.

Comment: "AI is a disruptive technology and it's benefits will not come without major economic changes. There will be some jobs that are replaced with automation / AI. When i was a teenager in high school i worked at a grocery store as a cashier. Now I use self checkouts. it saves me time, & shortens lines. There are still humans working as cashiers, just less."

Response: Yes, and the rest of the cashiers - those who were laid off - are now boozing, tweeking, browsing porn, and frittering their lives away on video games while collecting government assistance and refusing to work a lick, raise decent families, or even meaningfully protest their own servitude. It's like the movie "Idiocracy" out there, except worse.

Comment: "Less humans will do monotonous, repetitive work, and instead be incentivized to become entrepreneurs and do work that they find more rewarding. Technology will always be a double edged sword, but when people use it wisely it can be hugely beneficial. IMHO, AI will be a net benefit and has the potential to increase prosperity & quality of life for everyone."

Response: If you wouldn't mind, stop blowing pixie dust up everyone's butt. The burden is on you to explain exactly how your beatific pie-in-the-sky "everyone's an entrepreneur (or on the dole) and no one has to be a mere laborer any more" scenario can possibly work.

Meanwhile, here in the American Heartland, the economy has already been all but destroyed. There's not a restaurant in town much less a hardware store, and it's an 80 mile round trip just to buy groceries. I can't even hire a high school kid to mow the lawn. Viva la AI revolución! Soon, the best-paid career to which one can reasonably aspire will be that of an underpaid extra in "Idiocracy Part Deux".

Just had a brief discussion with my brother and he made a good point about the real danger of AI. It's just everything will be fake. The text, the images, the videos, the voices and audio. If the internet is full of noise now, it will just be exponentially more. In a few years AI videos will be largely indistinguishable from reality. Text and images are there already. If a new 9/11 or assassination attempt happens, no one will know which cell phone videos are real. And you can bet that "they" will spam fake AI content on purpose about any significant event just to make it impossible to tell what's real, and therefore basically impossible to do any kind of analysis and investigation using the internet.

This also means that any actually real videos can be simply denied as "AI" generated. Politicians and other public figures won't have to try to suppress videos anymore, just spam the internet with fake variations of the original and claim they're all fake. This only benefits the lies and the liars. It also benefits those who already lack perspective and believe lies, as it will allow them to justify their delusions even more. Flat Earthers, "viruses are fake", "mass casualty events are all actors" people will have plenty of fake videos "corroborating" their preferred delusion, and will even more easily deny any videos that contradict it.

Even now you can't trust any pictures you see on google image results. But with some careful digging and analysis you can still parse out the fakes - but for how long?

The average person has no critical thinking skills and believes all sorts of lies as it is - despite actual evidence pointing them to the truth that can still be found with enough time and effort and thinking and networking. I think as time goes on and AI content saturates the entire internet, even those who are well-practiced in discernment will start to have a really difficult time. Of course, that only means networking on a forum like this with people you know and trust (to various degrees) is going to be increasingly more important to have a hope in hell of telling which way is up and which way is down.

Imagine if 90% of all the cell phone videos of the attempted assassination of Trump were fake, and only 10% were real. And you couldn't tell which is which simply by looking at the video. It would make the job of figuring out what happened so much harder. And I'm talking like clever fakes - that could take a real video/image, and simply change a few things in it, just enough to make it look very similar but different in key areas. It would be really frustrating to say the least.

So my only advice is to hold on to this network and do the Work to fix your own thinking now, because navigating the world without those things will become increasingly difficult, if not downright impossible - and probably sooner than later.
