AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES CAUSED BY AN INFECTION?

Not quite as anecdotal as I thought - from the same article:

"Camel milk has long been the province of nomads in the Arabian and African deserts. In some countries, folk wisdom dictates that the sick and elderly should drink it for energy. For more than eight years, the Israeli physiologist Reuven Yagil has been working to establish its medical credibility in clinical tests and academic publications.

Of all of its potential benefits, the notion that camel milk can mitigate autism’s symptoms is perhaps the most controversial. Yagil thinks that autism, like celiac disease, results from autoimmune problems, whereby the sick person’s own immune system attacks healthy cells. He says that camels have robust immune systems, so their milk adds antibodies to the human bloodstream and rehabilitates the body.

Dr. Jodie Dashore, a New Jersey-based neurologist who specializes in autism, says that doctors in India, Africa, and the Middle East increasingly recognize the milk’s benefits
. But American doctors have been slower to embrace the growing sentiment around it. “Anything holistic always comes last to the United States,” she says.

Dashore heard about the milk from Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, a highly regarded neurobiologist who treated her son Brian’s autism. In 2011, when Brian started consuming camel milk, his motor tics initially became three or four times worse—a “healing crisis,” Dashore says, as the milk killed off harmful bacteria. But after two weeks, they started to drop off. The milk also seemed to clear up a host of Brian’s other maladies, from hives to mobility difficulties, caused by an autoimmune disorder (most autism patients have other simultaneous ailments according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). It also eased Brian’s digestive pains and helped him gain weight, common issues in autistic children.

Now Dashore recommends camel milk for every autistic child as part of a broader treatment regimen. She estimates that 99 percent of parents follow her advice—“especially since they know that I have a live guinea pig at home.”
[...]
Although most clinical research on the milk’s capabilities is occurring overseas, anecdotal evidence—paired with the desperation of patients—has been enough to drive up demand in American grocery stores and spur an inchoate movement.

Though few American doctors recommend camel milk to patients, similar testimonies about its benefits are spreading through social media among people with conditions like celiac disease, lactose intolerance, and diabetes. Small camel dairies have sprung up throughout the Midwest and Colorado to meet the demand. Some farmers have established buyers clubs and accept orders online. Others now sell the milk through the California-based distributor Desert Farms, which has contracts with some 87 Whole Foods stores in the western part of the United States. The company plans to market its products on the East Coast next year."

The article mentioned that children might not like the taste of camel's milk. Considering the many health properities of dark chocolate, maybe chocolate milk is the answer - and wouldn't that be a kick in the pants as a wonder cure?!!

Thanks to all Forum contributors for assembling this very important information!
Well, we sure have accumulated a raft of information about what helps and how, and what doesn't, or might be only marginally useful. I suppose it would be very helpful if we could organize these things into a document with chapter headings, quotes and references, and a brief review of what the product or therapy does, how it is applied, etc. It's certainly enough for a very valuable book! Plus, I would like to have it all in one place.
For the past month I have been copying from this thread into Word files, for my own benefit. Just about when my collection had become so big that I decided I was going to have to sort it out into sub-topics, Hesper posted a proposed outline, so I have sort of sorted my excerpts roughly according to that plan, and the files are attached below.

I’m sure I left out some meaty information. But the copying and pasting work is done, and might be useful as raw material. Hope it helps. I will be very interested in further findings and conclusions arrived at from this work.

I’ve had auto-immune issues since childhood, but they are not as severe as Laura’s. I thought I’d put most of it behind me when I went on the keto diet a year and a half ago. But some symptoms began to flare up again this Spring, so I was immediately interested in this thread, but decided to try the non-pharmaceutical remedies first.

I did pulsed cycles of 2 days on a heavy dose of neem and boron, and 5 days off. The first several weeks the neem triggered a herx reaction that told me that bugs were being killed. I also began to feel better.

When the importance of biofilms came up for consideration, I found a regimen online for dissolving them that didn’t include anything scary, and began the daily morning routine a couple of weeks ago. The first day or two I could tell that the bugs REALLY didn’t like it. But my gut began to feel better the very first day. And when I did the two-day “slam” of neem, after a few days of dissolving biofilms, it raised a herx reaction for the first time in over a month. So I’m thinking it’s worth the effort.

I discovered my mother has been prescribed metronidazole 500mG morning and night (for a condition she doesn't even seem to have according to a follow-up doctor visit). I got her to take probiotics with it. She doesn't seem to have any symptoms and if she does, they are buried under emotional outbursts from the divorce, fraud, roof damage and car repair we are currently going through all at once. I haven't been able to keep up with this thread, but do you think there is anything here that may jump out at us?

Health Benefits of Drinking Camel Milk

Last Updated: Apr 16, 2015 | By Jan Millehan

"Camel milk, used medicinally for centuries by nomadic people, is the closest to human mother’s milk and contains 10 times more iron and three times more vitamin C than cow’s milk, according to The Huffington Post. Camels possess unique, powerful immune-system components, which are contained in their milk. Camel milk might potentially benefit disorders including diabetes and autism. As with any natural remedy, consult your doctor before drinking camel milk."

10X MORE IRON?!!! I thought high intake of iron wasn't a good thing! Well, who doesn't like a conundrum?

Article cont.:

"Diabetes

Low-fat camel milk not only contains healthy vitamins and minerals, but also is a rich source of insulin. This milk reportedly has about a quart of insulin in each liter, making it a potential treatment option for diabetics. The Huffington Post cites a 2005 study by India’s Bikaner Diabetes Care Research Center that observed the effects of camel milk on type 1 diabetes. Researchers determined that consuming camel milk significantly reduced insulin doses required to maintain long-term glycemic, or blood sugar, control. According to lead researcher Dr. R.P. Agrawal, 500 ml of raw, fresh camel milk daily improves the lives of diabetics due to an insulin-like protein that is absorbed rapidly and does not coagulate. However, Agrawal also states that insulin remains the most efficient treatment for diabetes, unless it is not an option. While research appears promising, additional scientific studies are needed to prove the effectiveness of camel milk for the treatment of diabetes."

More from the same article:

Autism

Some camel milk proponents believe that camel milk might benefit people with autism. A study published in the 2005 edition of the “International Journal of Human Development” observed the effects of camel milk consumption, instead of cow milk, on autistic people. Researchers discovered that after a 4-year-old female participant drank camel milk for 40 days, her autism symptoms disappeared. A 15-year-old boy also recovered after 30 days of drinking the milk. In addition, several autistic 21-year-olds consumed camel milk for two weeks and were observed to be quieter and less self-destructive. Though the milk is believed beneficial, insufficient scientific evidence exists to prove the effectiveness of it in the treatment of autism.

Allergies

Camel milk lacks two powerful allergens found in cow milk and contains immune system components that might benefit children allergic to milk and other foods. A study published in the December 2005 edition of the “Israel Medical Association Journal” investigated the effects of camel milk on eight children with severe milk and other food allergies.
After failing to respond to conventional treatments, study participants consumed camel milk under the direction of researchers. Daily progress reports indicated that all eight children fully recovered from their allergies with no side effects. In fact, researchers stated that results were spectacular when compared with traditional treatments. Disease-fighting immunoglobulins in camel milk were believed to play a key role in reducing allergic symptoms; however, additional scientific research is needed to sufficiently prove the effectiveness of camel milk in treating allergies.

Immune

The potent immune-system components in camel milk might help fight diseases. Purportedly, the small size of the immunoglobulins, or antibodies, found in camel milk enables easy targeting and penetration of foreign disease-causing substances, called antigens, for destruction by the immune system. People with autoimmune system disorders, such as Crohn’s disease and multiple sclerosis, have immune systems that attack their own body tissues. Although traditional treatments for autoimmune disorders suppress the immune system, camel milk benefits these disorders by boosting it, according to Israeli physiology professor emeritus Dr. Reuven Yagil. Despite conventional wisdom, Yagil asserts that his observations over a five-year period indicate that camel milk can control or even heal autoimmune disorders, but insufficient scientific evidence exists to prove the effectiveness of camel milk in the treatment of autoimmune diseases.

From November 9, 2014, a female reporter on Sunday Night (Australia) who according to multiple tests, should be able to digest the main culprits of wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs and nuts, has for the past 10 years, had a sensitive and weak constitution. She get cramps, sharp pain, bloating followed by bathroom dramas. Her doctor believes she has IBS.

"I figured there was no point to investigating the health benefits of camel milk if I wasn’t drinking it myself.

For the past two months I traveled through the Middle East and outback Australia, investigating if the benefits of camel’s milk were fad or fact.

I spoke to many families who drink it to treat their child’s autism or asthma.

One man I spoke to suffers from Common Variable Immune Deficiency and swears by it being a staple in his diet.

The list doesn’t end there. The science behind the milk – known as ‘white gold’ - shows it can also help treat diabetes, cholesterol, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn’s disease, hepatitis and leaky gut.

Nearly everyone I met told me it has helped.

It sounded too good to be true. Annoyingly, some were even calling it a ‘super food’.
[...]
Chris O’Hora sells his camel milk raw, unpasteurized, which scientists say is better for you.

Under Australian law, selling raw milk also happens to be illegal. Chris covers his milk bottles with stickers saying “not fit for human consumption” so it’s my choice whether to drink it or not.

I chose yes. I’d been to Chris’ farm; saw the camels, where they lived, the milking process and hygiene standards so I felt very confident about drinking his milk.

That farm was cleaner than my kitchen.

Also, camels unlike cows naturally carry lower levels of dangerous bacteria that force us to pasteurize bovine milk
. Despite this, Chris insists testing his milk every single day. I saw this and was more than confident about what I was about to do.
[...]
Australia has the largest population of wild camels in the world but that doesn’t mean they line up and stand still to be milked.

Catching them in the wild is difficult and expensive. Once you have one, they yield around four times less than a cow.

It also costs $25 a litre.

I told Chris about my ‘funny tummy’ and he challenged me to drink a glass of raw camel milk for four weeks to see if it made a difference."

What happened:

"My first impression was that I wasn’t hungry. There were some days I skipped and even forgot about breakfast. It stole my appetite.

At this point, I wasn’t seeing a difference to my digestion. Things remained inconsistent, which was consistent for me.

I increased my amount to two glasses a day and that’s when it got interesting.

Call it the ‘unexpected detox’, which required me to stay close to the toilet up to three times a day.

It flushed out everything in my system (okay, so I was drinking way too much!).

Perhaps the biggest score was that I instantly had a flat stomach.

It was as if I’d been secretly doing up to 300 sit-ups a day and overnight I’d gained a washboard effect.

Something had to give. This flat stomach was going hand in hand with a lot of time spent in the bathroom. It was too much.

That’s when I lowered my dosage, stopped running to the toilet, and began to feel normal again.

Actually I felt great.

After a month, my stomach symptoms didn’t stop entirely, but they weren’t as severe. Very little cramping, and the bloating disappeared."

According to the Desert Farms website, camel milk is now available from them in the UK & EU.

_http://desertfarms.com/pages/nutrition

A Nutritious Dairy Product That is 100% Wholesome

Camel milk has been used for centuries as a natural remedy in the Middle East, Asian and North African cultures.
Nomads and Bedouins rely
on its nutritional and medicinal properties. Entire tribes have lived on the benefits of camel milk entirely or with few other foods, such as dates, for months in the harsh desert climate, without any apparent loss of health. The United Nations hailed the nutritional value of camel milk in 2006 and predicted higher consumption once it became easier for consumers to buy. Now you can buy camel milk from Desert Farms, produced right here in the US.

What’s behind the price?

Why does it cost more than that homogenized, de-fatted, vitamin-added blend of cow milks on your grocery store shelf? Well, we’re outnumbered! There aren’t that many camels in the US. Their pregnancies last longer than a humans’ (13-14) months and we don’t have a lot of advanced camel breeding technology in the US yet, like they do in the Middle East. The ratio of cows to camels is 18,000:1 in the United States.

Reading this thread and the mention of antibiotics that are being used to help heal from the autoimmune diseases that make life so much more harder to get though is a reminder of how grateful I am for what health I do have and to be more attentive and compassionate towards those who are struggling. :hug2:

It also reminds me that I really need to get myself a medical ID to wear at all times.

In my late 20's I had to deal with a few broken bones and because of some very severe reactions I had to the first time ever use of antibiotics that I had been given over the nearly 4 month period, it was then requested that I have some testing done by the Dr. that I was seeing. I was found to be, I think it should said anaphylactic but "Anaphylaxis" was what was written down, to all classifications of antibiotics. The listed antibiotic names on the one piece of paper from the whole situation that I did keep, is long. I just now compared it to Wikipedia antibiotics list and there are only 6 that were not on my paper. According to Wikipedia they are listed as "discontinued, obsolete or withdrawn". Oddly, until now I have not given the whole antibiotics thing much thought.

I can not even conceive of repeating this experience. :barf: :scared: Makes me wonder what it might mean or what the C's might have to say about those who do not do well at all with antibiotics.

I have been adding into my diet some herbs and spices that help kill and clean out many types of parasites and listening to some Rife frequencies that aide in this process, as well as re-integrating in changes in lifestyle hygiene concerning my shoes.

I sincerely hope that all those who are struggling can remain strong enough to regain balanced health soon! :hug2:

http://www.cheese.com/caravane/ apparently it's possible!
Caravane is modern-day’s, first camel cheese produced in the early nineties by Nancy Abeiderrhamane. Its similarity to camembert has earned Caravane the nickname, ‘camelbert cheese’. Her dairy, Tiviski, located in the capital of West African Mauritania makes this cheese with the help of milk collected from the local camel herds. Vegetable rennet and calcium phosphate is used in the cheese-making process for a better and unique yield.

Sounds verrrry tasty, I've tried searching the internet and can't find it selling anywhere  :violin: oh how I miss cheese

I read this thread and relating C's session http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,39067.0/topicseen.html carefully,

Q: (L) Okay. Transmarginal inhibition is when an organism is stressed or pushed to the point where they break. It's like they become blank slates, and then they can be easily reprogrammed. Is that what we're getting at here?

A: Yes. Now think of the superimportant bit of data we sought to get through to you some years ago regarding parasitic infestations preventing a "quantum leap in awareness."

Q: (L) So you're saying that awareness is the key to the Great Work, work on the self, graduating to 4D, or whatever. Awareness involves knowledge, and quantum leaps in awareness can be prevented by parasitic infestations, which is somehow related to transmarginal inhibition.

(Pierre) How does it relate?

(Perceval) It makes people easy prey. Like toxoplasmosis in cats.

Then I realized that my older autistic son could be one of this victims , he was an extraordinary child when he was a baby, he was able to speak when he was 8 months old and he was able to speak and draw when he was 14 months old. He had an psychotic attack and got autism after a vaccine shot and after 3 years of mainstream treatments and study we decided his condition is an infection induced autism and after we try a lot of detox, nutrigenomic, HBOT, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-biotic treatment protocols we get the best results with the cowden protocol and we are able to control his mood swings and psychotic conditions without using any psychotic drugs after we apply the cowden protocol.

Spirochette like pathogens develop cysts and other forms to resist the antibiotics, so mainstream antibiotic protocols are not effective to this type of pathogens. (for the morphology of spirochettes see _http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4339653/ )

I had like to give a short presentation of cowden protocol approach for further research:

•Inflammation usually caused by WBC response to microbes &/or toxins
•Toxins include heavy metals, man-made chemicals (including drugs) & biotoxins
•Toxins increase microbial growth
•“Microbes" include mycoplasma, chlamydia, fungi, viruses, borrelia, bartonella, protozoa, worms…

LYME BORRELIOSIS = 2nd GREAT IMITATOR Borrelia is one of biggest contributors to MSMMI
Lyme causes, mimics or contributes to more than 350 illnesses (www.nutramedix.ec)
Can mimic MS, myelopathy, polyneuropathy, brain tumor, encephalopathy (Neurosurgery.1992 May;30(5):769-73)
Can cause meningitis, encephalitis, neuritis, mania, OCD, depression, schizophrenia, anorexia, dementia (Am J Psychiatry. 1994 Nov;151(11):1571-83)
Lyme can cause cardiomyopathy, CHF, perimyocarditis, arrhythmias, AV block and conduction disturbances (Eur Heart J.1991 Aug;12 Suppl D:73-5)
90% of chronic fatigue patients are Lyme positive. (Informal study by American Lyme Disease Alliance)
Fetal borrelia can cause fetal death, SIDS, fetal anomalies… (Rheum Dis Clin North Am.1989 Nov;15(4):657-77)

Misconceptions about Lyme Disease (Borreliosis plus Co-infections)
•Lyme disease is only a concern in Northeastern US states
•All patients recall a tick bite or bulls eye rash (>30% don’t)
•ELISA is a sensitive screening test (misses Dx >30% of time)
•Only one infectious pathogen is usually transmitted by the tick bite (usually at least two microbe species & often more)
•A short course of antibiotics resolves all cases of Lyme disease (per “Treatment Guidelines” of IDSA)

Truth Lyme disease is worldwide, may present as chronic and complex ‘medically unexplained symptoms’, is difficult to diagnose, is multi-microbial and difficult to treat.

•2 weeks- fewer microbes than before the study
•4 weeks- very few microbes in serum
•6 weeks- no microbes in serum until red blood cells crushed, then many microbes seen
•8 weeks- no microbes until red cells crushed, then very few microbes seen
•10 weeks- no microbes seen before or after crushing red cells

• 28 Western-Blot-Positive Stage-3 Lyme patients started the study in Dec.2002 (Borrelia & 1+Co-inf.)
• 14 “control” patients continued using conventional therapy during study; one improved moderately, 6 improved slightly, 3 worsened & 4 remained the same.
• Of 14 patients in “integrative” treatment group, 13 completed study (1 dropped out due to tumor surgery) and all 13 improved subjectively and objectively (2 moderately and 11 markedly &/or significantly).
• By 18 weeks, further improvement in the “integrative” group but not in the “control” group.

Horowitz Study
•Richard Horowitz MD, then vice-president of ILADS, in Dec.2006 started several hundred Lyme patients (who had failed to improve on antibiotic therapy) on the all-natural “Cowden Support Program”
•Cowden Support Program had developed from the Lyme Pilot Study in Dallas in 2003
•See program: www.nutramedix.ec
•70% of his patients improved fairly quickly (<6mo.)
•Dr. Horowitz presented this at ILADS Conf. 2007
•I evaluated some of the “failures” in his office
•Failures were toxic from mercury, biotoxins,& EMR, were dehydrated, had food allergies & were eating excess sugar
•Cowden Support Program was then modified
•> 80% of subsequent Lyme patients improved

•Day 4 add 2caps 2x/day Serrapeptase, 2+caps Mg.malate, 10drops 2X/day Sparga; also add Banderol & Samento-starting 1drop each & building to 30 drops of each 2X/day
•Day 4 add every 3rd night 15 drops Sealantro (+/-DMSA)
•On day 78, cycle Banderol to Cumanda+Mora then Enula+ Houttuynia 30drops2X/day for 12.5 days on, 36 hours off
•On day 78, cycle Samento 30 drops twice daily 12.5 days on, 36 hours off (with the Mora, Enula or Banderol)
•Stevia 30 drops can be given with every dose of Samento
•190-day program +2pg.Summary at www.nutramedix.ec

How to Take Antibiotics with CSP
•After day 78 of CSP, there is a 36 hour period OFF all Microbial Defense herbs every 2wks
•Pharmaceutical antibiotics must stop 12 hours before the Microbial Defense herbs and restart when the first Microbial Defense herbs restart
•Therefore, the pharmaceutical antibiotics are stopped for at least 48 hours each 2 weeks
•The time off all antimicrobials allows hiding forms of bugs to transform back into the invasive forms, which are the forms most responsive to bug killers
•Dr. Horowitz found those on CSP alone did as well as or better than pts. on pharmaceutical antibiotics plus CSP

Re: AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES CAUSED BY AN INFECTION?

Some more information regarding rheumatoid arthritis and mycoplasma that might help:

Possible role of mycoplasma fermentans in pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (1970)

Summary: Mycoplasma fermentans membranes inhibited leucocyte migration in twentynine (67%) out of forty-three patients with rheumatoid arthritis. No inhibition was observed with leucocytes from osteoarthritic patients or healthy controls. M. fermentans is often present in affected joints in rheumatoid arthritis, and it is postulated that the chronic course of the inflammatory process is due to a hypersensitivity response to the organism. Immunoglobulin present in the surrounding fluid is bound firmly to the mycoplasma membrane and could be the stimulus for production of rheumatoid factors. If rheumatoid arthritis is due to an infectious process new chemotherapeutic approaches should be possible.

[...]

Thus, if M. fermentans persists in the joints, sometimes within synovial cells protected from immunological attack, and at other times present extracellularly where it could provoke hypersensitivity reactions, it could be responsible for the development of chronic arthritic lesions with possible remissions in individuals with humoral and cell mediated immunity to the organism.

The failure to elicit delayed-type skin reactions to intradermal injections of aggregated IgG in rheumatoid-arthritis patients, and the activity of ureatreated mycoplasma membranes (free of rheumatoid factor " reactant ") in the migration test make it likely that sensitivity is directed against membrane components other than the bound IgG. However, the membrane immunoglobulin is clearly modified in structure in the sense that it can react readily with rheumatoid factor and might therefore be the stimulus for production of the antiglobulin factors which are so prominent a feature of the disease and which may contribute to the inflammatory changes occurring in synovial effusions. It may be more than coincidence that of the many strains of mycoplasmas studied, only, M. fermentans has this ability to bind immunoglobulin so avidly.

Gold salts and antimalarial drugs strongly inhibit the growth of M. fermentans and this may account for their beneficial, if inconsistent, therapeutic effects.

Children:

Inflammatory or septic arthritis associated with mycoplasma pneumonia in children (2012)

Inflammatory or septic arthritis due to Mycoplasma pneumonia in children is an extremely unusual manifestation. Four cases of arthritis associated with Mp infection have been published by Azumagawa et al., however less severely afflicted than our cases. In their study, a 2-year-old boy presented with joint pain in both hips, which improved by intravenous administration of antibiotics. The second case of an 8-year-old boy was almost identical with pain in both hips, while the third case of a 4-year-old boy with a 5-day history of right knee joint pain, limping and fluid retention that improved after administration of azithromycin.

The fourth case of a 4-year-old boy complaining of pain in the right ankle joint improved by intravenous midecamycin. All these cases were mild and subsequently were treated conservatively without surgical intervention. In another study of extra-pulmonary manifestations due to Mp, three patients were reported with joint and skin manifestations, while arthralgia and urticaria-like rush, respectively, were observed.

This reminds me of when I was younger, sometimes I'd feel a sharp pain in my right knee making it difficult and painful to walk. The doctor didn't know the cause back then and told me to rest and it'll go away. Well, it went away after a week or two of resting, but occassionally it would come back. Since the dietary changes it hasn't occurred as much, and when it does, the pain is more tolerable. But it is interesting in light of the information provided in this thread so far, perhaps it could be some kind of infection. Fwiw.
