AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES CAUSED BY AN INFECTION?

Here's an interview with Dr. Bill Costeron whose been called the "father of biofilms". I don't think he's really saying anything that's hasn't already been covered on this thread, but I think he does drive home some important points. He talks about how the common medical microbiology treatment of bacteria using cultures is outdated and ineffective, how pervasive biofilms are, and just how hard they are to treat and talks about the need for heavy doses of antibiotics to "dig out" biofilms (he also mentions organ removal for some cases!). His love of the subject comes through and he ends with a nice note about curiosity.

ozone water is supposedly very effective against biofilms, and safe to drink.

many statements on websites that mixing ozone and DMSO is fatal, but no explanation if this is a real or theoretical danger.

does anyone have more information on this, or references?

At about 1:50 mins, he mentions the protocol he uses with supplements (no strong medication - see attached slides, screenshots from his lecture).

The products he lists that are brand name:

Livaplex:
Contains a combination of key ingredients from A-F Betafood, Hepatrophin PMG, Betacol, Spanish Black Radish, Chezyn, and Antronex*

<snip>

Liv-Co: The combination of Schisandra, Rosemary and Milk Thistle

Livton: Livton Complex contains five herbs that helps support the digestive system. The herbs Globe Artichoke, Bupleurum, Dandelion Root, Milk Thistle and Fringe Tree

Cal-Ma Plus: Contains key ingredients from Calcium Lactate along with bovine parathyroid to support healthy parathyroid function, which is required for the proper regulation of calcium metabolism*

<snip>

Thymex: Thymex supports the thymus gland with bovine thymus Cytosol™ extract.

Congaplex: • Contains ribonucleic acid, which the body uses to build new cells
• Contains a combination of key ingredients from Cataplex A-C, Thymex, Calcium Lactate, and Ribonucleic Acid
• Good source of antioxidant vitamin C*

I can't speak for all these individual products, but I've used the Standard Process line of supplements a number of times now and, in my experience, they are really top notch. They're usually expensive, but worth it at least in certain applications. Watch out though: some contain gluten.

LOL! Well hopefully, should you start a camel ranch, they won't eat your roses - but then again, rose-scented camels milk?

I checked the Desert Farms website - no cheese. They do sell powdered camel milk, kefir, and colostrum - 1st & regular - but both are sold out.

I'll have to look it up, but last year's e-gluten summit featured a doctor (? - boy, my memory stinks) who decided to start a business making & selling colostrum. I'll get back to you on that.

I was thinking I'd seen a reference to camel milk cheese and here it is - from _http://magazine.good.is/features/camel-milk-autism :

While Dashore was experimenting with her own son, two mothers of autistic children in Pennsylvania created a Facebook group called Healing with Camel Milk as a resource hub. They posted contact information for every camel dairy they knew of, plus interviews with Dr. Yagil. With a membership of more than 3,000, the group has become a dominant forum to discuss diet questions, consult with camel farmers about their products, and post recipes ranging from infant formula to ricotta, and more.

Added more categories and info to the Google doc. Categories include: Relevant sessions with the C's, L-form bacteria, Cell wall deficient organisms, and a whole raft of different articles. Looks like a category on camels milk is in the cards. Strange, what we learn!

When the importance of biofilms came up for consideration, I found a regimen online for dissolving them that didn’t include anything scary, and began the daily morning routine a couple of weeks ago. The first day or two I could tell that the bugs REALLY didn’t like it. But my gut began to feel better the very first day. And when I did the two-day “slam” of neem, after a few days of dissolving biofilms, it raised a herx reaction for the first time in over a month. So I’m thinking it’s worth the effort.

Are-you talking about that protocol ?

All my neighbours have herds of camels. Seriously, all the families that live around my farm have several herds of camels. Three of them tried to break into my place last week to steal the grass. I am surrounded by bedouin. Hmm think I'll go out with a bowl tomorrow asking for some camels milk. Or maybe start a camel farm. Seems like it could be a good business plan.

I paid to have full lifetime access to all the material of the presenters of the e-gluten summit. This is from the customer hub:

Proline-Rich Polypeptides/Colostrum

Andrew Keech, PhD, DSc

The little-known benefits of colostrum
How colostrum can help heal a leaky gut
How colostrum benefits autistic and Alzheimer's patients
The immune balancing affects of colostrum
Using colostrum to reset the immune system
How colostrum can help with autoimmunity
Why colostrum is tolerated by people on a dairy-free diet
Why sourcing quality colostrum makes a difference

From the transcript:

A little background on Dr. Keech: he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Process
Engineering—and you’ll see how important that is in just a minute—at the University of
Canterbury in New Zealand in 1996. He has a degree in Process Control Engineering
and an Honorary Doctor of Science in Natural Applied Sciences. He’s a member of the
Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand, and a member of the Institute of
Chemical Engineers in London, England.

Author of the book Peptide Immunotherapy-Colostrum: A Physician’s Reference Guide.
It’s been translated into several languages, and is the most recognized publication in
the world on the science of colostrum.

Dr. Keech: Well, I mean it all stems back to a number of years ago, when I was born on
a dairy farm in New Zealand. Being a kid on a dairy farm, one of the procedures in the
spring time is to feed the calves with this yellow liquid. They call that colostrum, which is
somewhat different than milk because milk is sort of this white liquid. And, colostrum is this yellowish, more viscous type liquid that we feed
the calves. And then after a few days it moves from more yellow to more white, in terms
of the milk.

So, being around colostrum for a long time, I studied the stuff at college. I’ve
written a book on it. So I moved from New Zealand back about 15 or 16 years ago to
the U.S. I was building dairy factories. And, in my spare time, I was doing a lot of
research on colostrum. And, particularly I became interested in a fraction of colostrum
that I was doing some extra research on, it was the very small polypeptide fragments.
And, I would give that to my friends. This was back in ’97 and ’98. And, they would see
some relief from their ailments that they were having, whether it be any type of allergies
or autoimmune diseases or colds and flus. I was getting some good responses. So,
then, I started doing a bit more digging around.

And, I ended up actually building a colostrum facility, which had the equipment to
produce these fractions. And since about 2003 we’ve been selling these colostrum
capsules or colostrum powder all over the world. We export directly to 50 different
countries. But we find that our products are in pretty much all the countries now. And
we’ve done quite a significant amount of work on clinical trials and do have some drug
licenses, particularly in third-world countries, particularly Africa, for these colostrum
fractions as good immune modulators.

See, basically colostrum is the first food that we get when we are
born as mammals. And, what’s interesting is the colostrum produced from cows—at
least the immunological part of the colostrum, these peptides—is exactly the same in
every mammal. So, it doesn’t matter. You can harvest colostrum from any mammal and
give it to any other mammal because the peptide sequences of the amino acids are
exactly the same.

So, basically colostrum is the first food that we get. It’s a complete food. It has many
vitamins and minerals and other nutritional components that the body needs, more so
than what’s in standard milk. It has primarily the main type and component of
colostrum is the immune antibodies. If you look at first milking colostrum, about 20%-
25% of the total solids in colostrum are antibodies. And, they can be our IgG antibodies,
IgE, IgA, IgD. And these are antibodies which are used in the gut to help control
pathogens in the gut, especially in calves. Calves require IgE to be passively transferred
into the body of the calf, usually within 6-12 hours before the gut seals.

But, the benefit of taking cow colostrum—because that’s primarily where we source
colostrum from because it’s the most abundant source—the immunoglobulins have a
great benefit to us as well because they actually control the harmful pathogens that are in human guts. Because in a human gut, normally 80% is bad bacteria and 20% is good bacteria, in the Western gut. But typically we want to reverse that relationship by having
80% good bacteria and 20% bad. And you do that by these antibodies that we harvest
from cow colostrum, actually are antibodies and will attack pathogens directly. That’s
the main component that’s in colostrum.

The next component that’s in there of a significant quantity is lactoferrin. I’m sure people
have heard a lot about lactoferrin and its benefits as an antimicrobial, antiviral. It has
some immunomodulatory effects as well. The next thing that’s in there are some growth
factors, which are important to actually heal the gut. And, I’ll get into more about healing
the gut and how colostrum can aid with that.

Then the next thing that’s in there, apart from these other factors, are these peptides,
which are these immunomodulatory components of colostrum, which reset the immune
system. Now, when we say, “What does resetting the immune system mean?” or, “What
does immune modulation mean or immune balancing?” basically, it means it’s
normalization of the production of cytokines produced by T-cells and various immune
cells in the body to direct an appropriate immune response when necessary.

So, the antibodies will actually clean up a lot of the harmful bacteria
and microbes in the gut. And, the lactoferrin will do that as well. But, primarily the
peptides, which are the most immunologically active component of the colostrum, does
help normalize the immune system. If somebody has an autoimmune disease or an
allergy or some kind of imbalanced immune state, than that is very useful. And also, the
growth factors actually help repair the villi and microvilli in the gut because 80% of all
the diseases that we get—if not more, in my opinion—is stemmed from a porous gut,
whereas a lot of microbes, pathogens, undigested food, toxins, etcetera, enter through
the small intestinal lining and are causing innate type of immune reactions and cytokine
unbalancing.

And that’s how people start out with maybe an allergy to one particular food, and then it
propagates over a period of time to being allergic to many different types of food. Then,
that’s a Th2-type response. But, also, you have other instances of autoimmune effects.
Once you get in one autoimmune disease—it could be celiac disease—you’ll then start
developing other autoimmune diseases, as well. All these autoimmune diseases have
the same type of mechanism of action. All autoimmune diseases, they all stem from a
pro-inflammatory cytokine response, if you like.

[...]
Dr. Keech: Well, one of the reasons I actually built a colostrum facility is that you’re
either a really big dairy company that only produces colostrum in the springtime on big
milk protein dryers, or you’re dealing with mom and pop type people in the countryside
producing it.

So, we wanted to be somewhere in the middle. We wanted to be a big enough company
that was focused just primarily on colostrum. We didn’t focus on making a hundred
other different products. So, what I did was we built and designed this colostrum plant
here. We produce about 500 metric tons per year of colostrum powder.

Now, the difference is why is ours better? Well, we wanted to make sure that we
had year-round supply of colostrum. So, we located our facility in the Southwest USA
where we have big dairies. We can control them very well. Most of the big dairies have
veterinarians and a nutritionist on staff, so we can control them. We install our own
collection systems on the dairies. And, we collect it all year round.

OK - I'm going to stop there. Interested parties can go to theDr.com for access to the The Gluten Summit material. It was free online when 1st presented, but must be purchased now. The rest of Dr. Keech's interview is just chock-full of facts and pertinent information - especially for those who have dismissed dairy as only being harmful to human health and only intended for baby cows. I recommend buying access to his full interview if one is considering purchasing colostrum - he's really made it state-of-the-art w/ unbelieveable amount of testing for quality.

I didn't see Dr. Keech's contact info in the interview so googled:

_http://www.apsbiogroup.com/news/Worlds-Largest-Producer-of-Colostrum-Products-APS-BioGroup-Announces-New-Name-Contract-Manufacturing-Immulox-Product

July 27, 2010
APS BioGroup, formerly Advanced Protein Systems, the world’s largest producer of colostrum products, announces its new company name and expanded focus to include advancements in private label contract manufacturing for health supplements and the introduction of Immulox®, an immune support product and supplement ingredient derived from colostrum.
[...]
“APS BioGroup is now much more than the world’s largest producer of bovine colostrum products,” said Bob Davies, president and CEO of APS BioGroup. “We are a diversified producer of health products, including the new Immulox® product, and a respected contract manufacturer providing customer support from an outstanding, expert team that even includes a first-ever staff pharmacist.”

New Immulox® Product

Immulox® is produced exclusively by APS BioGroup using a patented processes proprietary to APS BioGroup and is available in a consumer-ready oral spray delivery system or as bulk powder for incorporation in dry blends, capsules or tablets. The key difference between Immulox® products and other immune support products is the presence of a high level of proline-rich polypeptides (PRPs). Dr. Andrew Keech, founder and managing director of APS BioGroup, developed Immulox® as a product with high levels of PRPs. PRPs occur naturally in humans and other mammals. They have been shown to bring the immune system in to homeostatic balance.

“We are now happy to offer Immulox® and colostrum to the world as a vital ingredients to dietary supplements and more,” said Keech. “Studies have shown that PRPs are important to maintaining health.”

So, it looks like he's developed something in addition to just colostrum. And the learning continues . . .

Obviously, if you could find a way to break that barrier, you'd make a mint.

Laura, what an amazing story.

It appears that the UK is selling camels milk in supermarkets

Dubai milks the camels automatically
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/21/dubai-camel-milk-producer_n_690273.html

Just after dawn, they file on their own -- always in groups of 12 -- into metal stalls for milking. Workers attach automated pumps. The milk flows into a system of chilled pipes that empty into a sealed metal vat.

The next stop someday could be markets in Europe, and possibly beyond, under ambitious plans backed by Dubai's ruler to expand the reach of the playfully eccentric brand name Camelicious.

European Union health regulators in July cleared the United Arab Emirates to become the first major exporter of camel milk products to the 27-nation bloc. If onsite inspections and other EU tests pass muster, the first batches of powdered camel milk could be heading to European shelves next year -- and at some point possibly to Asia and America.

The camel cheese is a far better export option. It would go down very well in the Middle East local market.
They are experimenting here with camel products and some restaurants have camel burgers on the menu, but they are not well received. Expats here, I am sure would love the cheese. Maybe better to start small with the cheese in the local market - Oman, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait etc. and then try for the EU.
I am not really looking to make a mint, just establish a legacy for my descendants.
Maybe we could form a co-operative, pool resources, get heads together. There is a wealth of talent on this group.

Re: Camel cheese: Why it's not available in Europe

Once the Trans-Pacific Partnership gets enacted, we can kiss a lot of healthy food/protocols goodbye on this side of the Atlantic. If it's not GMO, it will probably be prohibited directly or indirectly - the TPP will give corporations the right to sue to collect for potential losses incurred:

WikiLeaks has published a leaked chapter of the secret Trans-Pacific Partnership — a global trade deal currently being negotiated between the United States and 11 [other Pacific Rim] countries. The TPP would cover 40 percent of the global economy, but details have been concealed from the public. Now, WikiLeaks has released the "Investment Chapter," which highlights the intent of U.S.-led negotiators to create a tribunal where corporations can sue governments if their laws interfere with a company’s claimed future profits. WikiLeaks warns the plan could "chill the adoption of sane" health and environmental policies.

FYI - Desert Farms:
16 oz fresh or frozen raw camel milk - $18.00; min order 6 pints

16 oz frozen 1st raw camel milk colostrum - $120 (sold out)

16 oz frozen regular raw camel milk colostrum - $80 (sold out)

Just think how ironic it would be if camel milk could dispose of the pathogens causing the cognizant dissonance/frequency fence barrier to lucid reality. The Muslims would have the last laugh!

Just caught up with this thread again (still growing fast!). Lots of new and interesting info. Thanks for putting the documents together categorizing the data collected here, everyone who put the time in to do so and posted the links here.

Hi, Gandalf: The protocol I’ve been using is found here:

I also put it toward the end, in the “AutoImmune INFECTION 3 –Biofilms” file below.

Well, we sure have accumulated a raft of information about what helps and how, and what doesn't, or might be only marginally useful. I suppose it would be very helpful if we could organize these things into a document with chapter headings, quotes and references, and a brief review of what the product or therapy does, how it is applied, etc. It's certainly enough for a very valuable book! Plus, I would like to have it all in one place.

Since I had already done most of the copy-and-paste of important posts from this thread, for my own study, I thought I could help by posting those files yesterday. However I looked at the files again today I was horrified by what a mess they were: disorganized with lots of duplications. So I slicked them up to a condition where I they can be printed out without wasting lots of paper. And here they are, much better.

The moderator can feel free to delete my post #616.
