Stop irrational scaremongering over COVID-19.

I want the Government to act with clarity over COVID-19 and stop fearmongering. Please ready why this is important.
Why is this important?
I am not scared of Covid-19.
I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new ‘slightly worse than a cold’ scourge.
But, I am not scared of Covid-19.
But, I am scared of Government promoting fear and panic of the known ‘cold bug, Covid-19’ like it’s the ‘Black Plauge’ of 1347.
Government loss of reason and promoting wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they " probably don't have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know..." and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.
But, I am scared of the Government because they are not thinking straight and causing panic to the masses and I need the leaders to have clarity before acting.
But, I am scared living a joyful life will become illegal
I am scared that travel restrictions will become so far reaching that weddings will be cancelled, graduations missed and family reunions will not materialise. That my child’s school events will be deemed to dangerous. And well, even that big party called the Olympic Games, music concerts, theatre and all those wonderful occasions could be not allowed. Can you even imagine?
But, I am scared there will be no new wonderful memories.
But, I am scared for our economy
I'm scared those same epidemic fears will limit trade, harm partnerships in multiple sectors, business and otherwise and ultimately culminate in a global recession.
But, I am scared I could lose my job
But, I will show my daughter how to address government fearmongering
But mostly, I'm scared about what message we are telling our kids when faced with a threat. Instead of reason, rationality, open-mindedness and altruism, we are telling them to panic, be fearful, suspicious, reactionary and self-interested.
But, I am not scared to tell my child that I acted and got the UK Government to see sense and this is why she has a wonderful life and all the freedom she desires.
But, I am not scare to get Covid-19 and recover within one week
Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it and expect to be cured in one week.
Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But, our own behaviours and "fight for yourself above all else" attitude could prove disastrous.
But, I am confident that the masses are well aware the only winners from COVID-19 will be pharmaceutical companies and their stakeholders
I implore you all. Temper fear with reason, panic with patience and uncertainty with education. We have an opportunity to learn a great deal about health hygiene and limiting the spread of innumerable transmissible diseases in our society. Let's meet this challenge together in the best spirit of compassion for others, patience, and above all, an unfailing effort to seek truth, facts and knowledge as opposed to conjecture, speculation and catastrophizing.
Facts not fear. Clean hands. Open hearts.
Our children will thank us for it.
Nothing to fear than fear its self.
It is a very beautiful text and express I think all our concerns about this situation. It is a very sad situation, yes indeed.

I've still not made up my mind one way or the other. Good that I don't mind about that.

Two interesting pieces of information from family and friends this morning. One friend of family is a retired nuclear engineer, so he is good at math at least, but not a medical professional, biologist, epidemiologist. Very convincingly he laid out the case that it's actually more likely to wind the lottery than die from coronavirus. Maybe, maybe not, but his argument and his math was convincing on it's face. He was confident in his presentation and he knew the facts.

Next, from a cousin who is highly placed in the pharma business, MIT and Bekeley trained PhD microbiologist, runs a large team of scientists, very large. His take this morning was sobering. Of the 100 or so epidemiologists he has working on his team, they were unable to model a good scenario. With a grain of salt, his (and mine) belief is that it's still too early to call, we are still getting data, it's unclear how much community transmission there is at the moment. His is a very well informed and data-driven opinion, and it's scary. His team, best case, says 100M 1M dead. He addressed the conflict of interest question also, being that his livelihood is tied to pharma, by saying he's not in the business of developing vaccines, but would probably be involved in their production in some way. That said, he's not a public spokesperson. I have the opportunity to ask very point-blank questions to him at family gatherings, and he does not shy way (great anecdote is how in a high-level executive meeting he told Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos fame that she was basically full of it). He is not on TV jumping up and down with his hair on fire. Instead, he calmly put together a list of people to call, and said to be prepared for the worst, but he was emphatic that there's not enough data to call it definitively, and at the moment he doesn't know.

I think that says a lot, that is, the admission of, "I don't know!" It's probably the scariest thing out there for the smarties out there. The first guy, probably in denial that he doesn't know, since he's a smart nuclear engineer and always knows how to do the math, laid out a feel good situation. Cousin, face with a whole staff of scientists telling him bad news, also doesn't know, and he laid out a very scary situation. Very interesting take on how this is playing with everyone's mind right now. Mind-games do seem such a sign of the times.

I still don't know.

Forgot one important anecdote. He had been on the phone with colleagues in Italy who were literally in tears as the system gets overwhelmed. It's not just the CFR. It's the rate of serious complications that require hospitalization, as in someone who doesn't die, but takes up a bed for days to weeks in the ICU. The result? Someone comes in with a very treatable stroke, and they end up dead anyway, and the medical professionals can't do anything about it except cry.

I beat the Hong Kong Flu when I was two, and I’ll kick this ones ass too! I double dog dare it! I almost want to find me an infected person and rub them all over my face!

Just my response to being stuck sitting in a waiting room enduring ten minutes of the local news’ ridiculous scaremongering and hysteria. PANDEMIC (PANic PANdemonium)!!! Laura summed it up perfectly: “Russia, Russia, Russia! Impeach, Impeach, Impeach! Virus, Virus, Virus!” It was encouraging though hearing the elderly couple sitting behind me quietly scoffing and saying, “Just like any flu: wash your hands.”

This is "funny". People before danger - let's say (not really as we know) but let's say this is something very dengerous - what people do first? They run to the shop. BUY, BUY, BUY, to have to devour. DEVOUR - this is the most important.

What I do. Listen to Echeos (Pink Floyd). Think about what is important to me in my life. Read the session (quote from session):
Soon things in your realm will become very chaotic and strange. It will give chills to many. Be not alarmed!

Positive side effect of this mess is that road to job and back to home is easier, less people in the transport...

Maybe part of the reason why the Corona "crisis" plays out as it does currently, is because of a deeply seeded "genetic" fear of a replay of real pandemics like the Black Death in the subconscious collective mind of humanity? Maybe what happened in the Black Death and similar pandemics was so deeply traumatic to humanity, that it still has a big imprint in us? Maybe this is coupled with a subconscious mass understanding/feeling that something serious is going on "up there" currently that is "heating up" quite a bit?
Yes, and I can also see a sort of feedback loop going on between what's happening "down here" and "up there". How will "up there" respond to not only any real danger but also to the (partially engineered) panic and it's knock-on effects in the coming months?

How many deaths in China up to now, where it started? Under 5K??? That's a pretty poor showing for any flu. And now, their infection rate is already dropping.

That seems to be due to the unprecedented quarantine measures. If these were not in place relatively early and this virus spreads freely, what would it look like then? It really depends on how much more serious it is than the normal flu - and that is still unknown.

So far, everything seems to suggest that it is at least several times more serious when it comes to the number of critical cases (who then need ICU treatment), as well as at least several times more serious regarding the mortality rate.

The higher ratio of critical cases means that if there is a flood of new cases in a short amount of time, the mortality rate would go up signficantly due to overwhelmed hospitals. So if you just let this virus spread freely, then millions of deaths are possible. Isn't that reason enough for some kind of quarantine measures?

Of course the problem is that the PTB will not let any good crisis go to waste and use it to further their agenda. It's pretty much like being between a rock and a hard place, in that containment measures seem to be necessary, but it is likely that the PTB will misuse them for their own purposes.

There is also the question whether the Chinese numbers can be trusted, as well as whether the virus comes back in China once the currrent strict quarantine measures are lifted. Though the fact that they stretched out the number of critical cases over time will certainly help to ensure that people who need it get ICU treatment.

Consider the fact that the flu - whatever strain goes around in a given year - is a nasty sickness for anybody, and more dangerous for some. So one can't just say "oh, nothing going on here."

A flu, any flu, going around as it does each year is bad.

A new variation on colds/flu (they are all corona type viruses I understand), is cause for some concern of a usual nature, the same as every year when nobody wants to get the flu or some new variation.

But PUH-LEEEZE, what is being done with this sickness is just un-freaking-real.

How many deaths in China up to now, where it started? Under 5K??? That's a pretty poor showing for any flu. And now, their infection rate is already dropping.

I tell ya, something really weird is going on and it isn't a pandemic.
I feel exactly the same.

The progression of events is clearly directed.

No one questions anything in governments, and "control" grows and grows.

And they really are doing it on a "planetary" level.

This is important:

It is "obeying" at the PLANETARY level.

Surely the people in this forum can pose various hypotheses about what is "really happening", but in the end they are "hypotheses, although surely close to the truth.

"...Cosmic forces will be displayed and there will be many searching for answers...."

This is kind of tongue in cheek but, when the Cassiopaeans said things were going to get "chatoic and strange" and some of us were speculating that meant really, really strange...well, if the realm curtain turns to swiss cheese and all of these 4D portals start showing up everywhere, that's as good excuse as any to me for a quarantine zone! I can see it now:

Me: Why can't I go down this road, what's with the deal with the checkpoint?
NSA Guard: This is a matter of national security, coronavirus related.
Me: I didn't know the virus was that big of a deal, I've never seen federal agents blocking public roadways.
NSA Guard: Don't you watch the news? The coronavirus has mutated, there is a deadily new strain going around that causes vivid hallucinations and acute schizophrenia.
Me: Well, I don't really watch TV...hey, that thing standing off to the side of the road looks kinda like a giant moth...man...thing.
NSA Guard: [Mumbling] Shit, he sees it.
Sir, you've been infected, we're going to have to give you this emergency vaccine[tranquilizer/psych drug cocktail].
Load him up in the back of the van and send him to the "quarantine facility."

And that was the last time anyone ever heard or saw me:lol:

On a more serious note, I can't believe the PTB are risking an economic collapse over this little nothing virus. I thought it would be set off by something a little more tangible like some geopolitical event vis-a-vis Russia/China or someone in the banking/insurance daisy chain would get spooked by holding too much fictitious mark-to-fantasy collateral and dump it all, causing a crisis of confidence amongst the "smart money" and they all stop trusting each other and rush for the exits at the same time. Maybe the coronavirus just gives them a convenient cover to collapse it in a controlled fashion while deflecting the blame from themselves, which would've been much harder if the whole thing had started over a purely financial event, or running the risk of having an uncontrolled collapse later where they take far more losses. Our universe loves irony, I decide that "Nah, it can't happen that way," and the universe is like "Oh, really?"
That is pretty accurate Neil.
Watch for New Mexico, Nevada and Denver areas to be quarantined shortly. This would be another speculation to watch for. Likely all of those secret areas will be included. A no go zone, after all they can't risk people walking out on them in order to keep as many souls stuck here as possible.

They are now closing down Kindergardens and schools here in my hometown, a traditional spring/easter fair here called "Plärrer" is canceled, same with upcoming icehockey games, which are a big thing here in my city. I don't know what to say.

IF they put a curfew in effect, which seems a little more likely by the day, it will effect a lot of people with small shops very hard. We are one of those shops. Hm. I still do not panic. But I start to ask myself what negative side effects the whole thing will have in the long run...
