According to Bratoljub Klaić's "Dictionary of Foreign Words", contemplation is "contemplation, reflection, deep immersion in thoughts, thinking, thinking that has no need for practical realization."
In the religious sense, contemplation means a form of prayer or meditation. In Christianity, it is most often associated with mysticism.
