WORLDWIDE EARTHQUAKE REPORT FEBRUARY 05_2024
Moderate levels of seismic activity occurred in the past 24 hours. Seismic activity at the Kilauea Hawaii volcano has returned to what can be considered normal levels and now it appears to be the turn (again) for the volcanoes on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Three moderate M5+ seismic events have been recorded so far on the Reykjanes Ridge, with an M5.4 earthquake being the largest.
A light earthquake magnitude 4.0 shook southeastern Romania. The shallow quake was felt mainly in Bucharest 75 km west of the epicenter and with a population of 1,900,000 inhabitants. No damage or injuries were reported.
The total number of earthquakes recorded worldwide in the last 24 hours has increased to 1002 which is above normal activity. Seismic activity in Iceland is picking up due to volcanic activity.
According to
Volcano earthquake report, volcano earthquake swarm occurred in:
Brennisteinsfjöll (7 quakes between mag 0.1-1.6),
Campi Flegrei (17 quakes between mag 0.1-3.0),
Clear Lake (10 quakes between mag 0.4-2.4),
Eldey (45 quakes between mag 0.1-2.4)
Kilauea (28 quakes between mag 1.7-2.5),
Krísuvík (13 quakes between mag 0.1-2.0),
Reykjanes (41 quakes between mag 0.1-1.9)
Strongest volcanic earthquake occurred at
Irazu Volcano with a magnitude of 3.9 with epicenter 22 km northeast of San Jose, San José, Costa Rica, on Monday, Feb 5, 2024, at 08:30 am (Costa Rica time)
Recent quakes worldwide map shows the distribution of the last 20 large earthquakes. We see seismic activity in Reykjanes Ridge as the main focus of attention and scattered earthquakes in the Pacific Ocean. Moderate M5+ seismic activity in the western Pacific occurred in Japan, Indonesia, Tonga and New Caledonia.
