Éiriú-Eolas - Breathing Program

Well I finally made it through the EE CD twice now. The first time I had trouble with shoulder pain during the 3 stage breathing, felt like my shoulders where on fire. It did help me to relax immensely and to actually quiet my mind down. Amazing. I did notice that after meditation my legs felt as if I had ran a 5 mile run and my thighs where sore. This time I still had trouble with shoulder pain during the 3 stage breathing. For some reason I seemed to really enjoy the Round Breathing part. I did a bit more stretching and I had my back up against my sofa which helped my back out but not my shoulders. During the meditation I had trouble keeping my mind blank. I do feel very relaxed and somewhat at peace, which is a relief for me. I just want to say thank you to all who are involved in making this program a reality. Words can't express the peace and joy I feel. :flowers:

Hi,
I had issues with my shoulders too at first because I was keeping my arms horizontal like in the video. I later learned that you can do it lying down which works much better for me. You can also do it on a couch and you don't have to keep your arms perfectly horizontal. The key is having the hands there to sense that area move when breathing in and out.

I also do my whole programme lying down (except for the exercises). I find it more relaxing and comfortable as I don't feel the pull of gravity as much.

and I always do it before bed time so it makes for a very good  :)

I am doing it before bed as well however after the effects/drain of a full day of activies this might be contributing to by zoning out during POTS. Well actually it is more like totally concking out during POTS than zoning out. Last night for example I zoned out during the last repitition of round breathing but quickly came out of it when Laura started talking again preparing for POTS. I didn't make it past the first two lines of POTS and awoke about two hours later slightly disoriented and even a little mad that I didn't do the POTS portion.

So I am thinking I am going to try to start sooner in the evening and not at 11pm when I usually do it, I would like to walk around and experiance my state after doing POTS so maybe next weekend during the day I will try.

I find that I sit in a lotus position for everything except POTS, it seems that it would be hard to do the warriors breathe laying down. My chief concern is that sometimes after doing the breathing excercises and then I move to lay down for POTS my legs are so asleep that it interferes with POTS and I have to pause the track to give my legs time to wake up. Thinking that some regular excercise might help with the legs falling asleep. might not though and I might move to a chair for the breathing excercises.

I could be wrong and hope someone chimes in if I am, but wheather you do the warm up exercises before the breathing programme or not, doesn't crossing your legs in any form that prevents smooth flow of blood circulation defeat the puprose of the programme.

I mean, at the end of every stage you 'relax and pay close attention to your body'. I imagine you would not be at full attention with your legs if in lotus position.

Oh, and doing the warriors breath horizontally is simple when I have the whole bed to myself :P

I use to do the same thing sitting cross legged for the whole program except during the POTS. My legs would sometimes fall asleep because the blood circulation was blocked (and I exercise regularly). Now a lay down for the whole program except I sit up for the Warrior's breath and I find it is much more comfortable and relaxing. My inhalations are much deeper as compared to when I was sitting. I usually practice the program in the afternoon. Then before bed I do some pipe breaths and POTS before falling asleep.

Exactly the same experience for me. I do find my inhalations are deeper when lying down, and I am more relaxed. The main thing is to be comfortable, so you can focus on the breathing and not be distracted by being in an uncomfortable position.

My experiences whilst away last week were that on Monday, after a day in the mountains, I had wet eyes throughout the whole programme, whilst on Thursday, it was as if there is nothing to report! I can’t remember the last time I had a session like that!

Last meditation I had a bit of wet eyes, as I remembered my dog (a spaniel cocker) who died 8 years ago, in april 2003. And I was thinking during the meditation how animals always give back as they are given. Most especially mammals.

I agree. The main thing is to be comfortable.

Myself. I used to sit cross-legged on the floor during the first year but I did found that the blood circulation was blocked and it didn't help me to be comfortable. Now, I can sit on a chair for the pipe-breathing and Warrior's breath before moving to lie down (with a small pillow under my head) for the remainder of the program.

Hi All
Im giving and updated of my EE program, I have done sitting in a chair with my hands in my legs , it had made me feel better when I do the 3stage and warriors breath, after that, in the BA-HA part and meditation, I´ve see that I concentrate in my breathing better and really felt like this position help me to fell all my body sensations.
I´ve felling starving like I was running by hours, lately I felt like Im inside a oven. Too much hot is that normal? Im feeling more security mixing the work with the EE, feeling changes around me and Im happy for that :) :)

Yesterday I was in one of the EE courses provided in one of the local areas where EE is offered (I was travelling outside of my country and was fortunate to make it)

I had completed full EE in the morning just after I woke up. However, I didn't think much of it when going into the evening session, I thought I would try doing ba-ha twice in one day, as I don't do it more than a few times a week max anyway.

The course was conducted in language that I only have basic knowledge of, but I was able to follow it - since it was in a foreign language it made me focus my attention a bit more. Nevertheless, my diaphragm is still stuck, as I have been very fitness minded and have maintained that "washboard stomach" unfortunately partially by keeping it tucked in - it is taking me a long time to get my stomach to move out to the full extent due to this diaphragm blockage.

During this session in a small group, when ba-ha was going on, I felt that ever-present tightness in my solar plexus to quiver (as it usually spasms a bit during ba-ha), and then I just began to cry, but the quiver in my stomach became a bit of a tremor and my stomach pushed/popped out a bit! This was noticed by the experienced EE instructors. It was a gentle release, and with the tears streaming down my cheeks laying on my back, I was bewildered by how I was not in control, as those feelings came out. It did not last more than a few minutes, so the release was only one step. But it was very encouraging, as it can take quite some time for some of 'tough cases' to get releases, and it motivates me to keep EE going regularly.

So likely last night my diaphragm got "unstuck" just a bit more :-)

Hi zim. I think it's normal to feel hot during parts of EE. For me, I get quite hot during 3-stage breathing and Warrior's Breath. But, oddly enough, I feel cold during Ba-Ha and usually need to get a blanket over me. Sometimes I even need to put my fingers on the sides of my nose to try to warm up the air I'm breathing in since it feels so cold. But I think changes in temperature are quite normal.

I also think it's normal to feel hungry afterwords; even starving! :D

What has brought about changes and intensified the experience of the POTS is in contemplating - semi-spontaneously, deeper feeling and new thoughts will occur, and it will become a focus, and this focus leads to what feels like inner cleansing and a change in understanding.
I have been experiencing something similar just recently during the meditation as well, so I`m going to briefly post about it. The "flavor" seems to be somewhat alchemical?

for instance..

"Fire is rapid digestion."

I know that fire consumes, but never though of it as a "digestion".

Just basically odd stuff like that coming in, so was just wondering if others are getting anything like this lately.

It's been more thematically related to what my mind has been working on for me. There's also been plenty of re-reading parts of The Wave, thinking, reflecting, feeling, praying - going back and forth between these - during the days that brought what I noted. What came as a result then were abstract images conveying feeling appearing along with connected thoughts. The result is a change in perspective, in feeling, of how I relate to the DCM, to life and existence and my experiences - mostly a change in feeling.

I also once, in the middle of POTS, received a design idea for software I was working on - one that was contrary to my expectations, making things much simpler.

And later the code I'd come to write suddenly turned into an extensive analogy for the learning cycle (as described by C's) and its connection to life experiences.

(that analogy could be networked, but would require a long, technically oriented introduction to convey)

Hi Psalehesost,

At the risk of going off topic, I for one would be eager to read your input on that one. New analogies or metaphors can prickle the mind into better understanding and the topic could be well suited to spurn us on into some new creative thinking about the learning cycle(s). Would be looking foreward to sparring with you over such matters. Could you open up a new thread on this at a for you convenient time?
