Éiriú-Eolas - Breathing Program

I find one of the most interesting moments to do pipe breath is when you feel like you're going to throw up. Although there were some times when I thought I may have needed to throw up and pipe breath seemed to be dragging it out.

At any rate, happy birthday to the reality of EE!

My sentiments, exactly.

Doing some deep belly breathing, then pipe breathing and POTS before sleeping always makes me sleep much deeper and wake up very rested.

.

Yes, the same here. I feel better getting up when doing EE before sleeping.

Quite often my belly muscles are contracting suddenly and I convulse (sort of). It is like a kick in the belly but without feeling pain. Very often it happens more than once in a row. I just let it happen.

I agree! I get in bed and read for a bit. While reading I do pipe breathing and it relaxes me so much I usually don't get far in my reading, but it makes it much easier to fall asleep. I do the POTS once I have turned off the lights. A great way to end the day :)

I've received so much from EE, and heavens, her birthday slipped my mind. So, happy birthday EE. Much love. This is also a great opportunity for me to thank all those who brought us this terrific program and my own illustrious EE instructors whose comfort, support and wisdom are so integral to my daily life.

I heartily agree Gaby. And here's to an outstanding turnout for your EE and nutrition class in Zaragoza. Will be there in spirit if not in person. :)

Hey, that happened to me once also, while I was sleeping. Like a really strong kick in the belly, but I had no pain afterwards, it just woke me up.

I asked a friend who was astral projected to my room (while awake and chatting with me) tonight, this:

> Me: What does it look like when I do this breathing stuff?
> Friend: Like....a cocoon of light waves.

I often get muscle spasms all over. Mostly i my face while doing it.

I also wanted to put a disclainer at the top of the thread and remind people not to do any part of EE while driving. I assumed that pipe breathing would not be included but have noticed that i get the feeling like i want to fall asleep at the wheel after doing. It.

My experience has been exactly the opposite.
Have done PB quite a lot while driving and it always had the effect of relaxing and calming the tension and stress, while increasing alertness and awareness of surroundings. Came pretty useful in/after stressful situations and when tiredness started to kick in.

That has been my experience, too.

My experience is like Saša's and Prodigal son's, I get nervous driving in certain situations so I end up pipe-breathing a lot behind the wheel, and it helps relax me but I am still aware and focused. If it makes you feel sleepy, then stop doing pipe-breathing while driving. Just do it before you go to bed along with the POTS, and it will help you get a deep restful night's sleep.

I too have had the same experience of doing PB while driving and it has only ever helped in making me feel more alert and awake. That said, I completely agree with what Alana has said here: if it makes you at all drowsy while driving then you shouldn't do it then.

As far as testimonials go, a few weeks back I had a cold and sore throat, the first in years. I was a bit hesitant to do EE right then because of this but something interesting happened. After doing the full program I noticed that my throat felt much better! The relief from the discomfort was practically immediate which was not at all expected, but greatly welcome of course. So doing EE really does seem to have a number of benefits where building health is concerned, among other things.

I didn't did EE last week because I was in a cold, not sore throat but with coughing/phlegm. Yesterday, I give it a try and coughing did not came in between. I assume I still have coughing/phlegm because I do not take them out when I am around people, and that's pretty much the whole day until I reach home at night.

I once tried to do pipe breathing while being in the public bus/subway, but got double stressed, bus/subway tend to stop abruptly. Never to do it again in vehicles if I am not driving, and that is almost 99% of the times.

Could be that you were less congested than you thought, or that EE helped ameliorate the disruptive effects of the congestion to some degree. On this subject, I think that for those who are congested, but would still like to do EE, one can first gargle with salt water and then use something like a sinus rinse to clear out as much of the mucus as possible. This would at least make things a little easier and more conducive to the practice.

Again, if you are not comfortable doing PB under such situations as riding or driving somewhere, then just don't. You can always do it once you've reached your destination or are 'at rest' at your work desk, or back at home in a comfortable chair. That said, I do think that if one can basically keep the count going while you are in less than ideal situations, and not worry about perfection, then one can benefit. I once heard of someone doing pipe breathing in an emergency room while she was being treated for a dislocated shoulder. A very painful and stressful situation indeed. The treating doctor's feedback to her was that she was a terrific patient, and he had never seen anyone handle themselves so well under such a physically traumatic situation as that before. I think that's because by then this person had been practicing PB so much, that it had become second nature to her. fwiw.

When I am ill and then do EE, I always feel better afterwards, even if the relief only lasts a few hours.
