Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): General information and discussion of Home Units

I have done 17 sessions as of now at an average of 1 hr at 1.5 ATA. I still feel tired in the chamber (sort of zone out) initial 30 minutes , but it is reducing gradually. There is a feeling tired ness outside and need more rest too after the vitamins.

I use headset type of thing with one small hole that goes to below nose. They also gave canula but I avoided it as it goes into nose and needs proper cleaning. I wondered What type of masks other people use? It looks there are few types of masks. which one you guys use?

We use the Face Mask. Though @Pierre info on the non-rebreather sounds interesting.

We use the face mask but we are thinking of switching to the non-rebreather type because, apparently, it allows to inhale air with a higher percentage of oxygen.
Does Macy-Pan come with the non-rebreather type mask as standard or does one need to specify it? The reason I am asking is because I just today ordered another Macy-Pan unit as we are a few people who shared in the purchase of the first one and now saw the need for another.

It comes with a standard mask.
Our Macy Pan should soon arrive and we'll probably be at least 2 but up to 6 to use it.
I had in mind to buy one mask per person so each time one would go in the bag he would use his own mask. I also thought about practical habits to take when one finished to do 1h and another one coming and i was thinking about things like :
- put a different bed sheet for each person (so that everyone has their own and lay down on it), wash them 1x each week.
- ask them to change before going into the chamber and bring a training suit or at least a simple suit throughout the treatment
- bring a few books, a reading book, a small rechargeable usb lamp (or two in total)
- with regard to raising the head when lying down? in order to be able to read more easily, would it be useful to add a pillow (or more than 1) ?

@Pierre as you have a good experience, do you have comments about, on how you proceed at Le château ?

Another report on the experience with the Macy Pan unit:

The underlying condition is mitochondrial dysfunction and chronic infection. Symptoms are mostly blocked sinuses with recurring headaches and dry eye, and something akin to chronic fatigue.

The first few times, I found it difficult to adjust for the pressure in the ears. Doing the Valsalva maneuver, yawning and swallowing in succession a few times helped. I have now spent 44 hours in there at a total of 33 sessions at 1.5 ATA for 1-1.5 hours as time permits, and barely feel the pressure anymore when compressing or decompressing. Getting up to pressure takes ca. 6 minutes.

The frequency of the headaches and eye inflammation has reduced considerably, from almost every other day to maybe once every two weeks. I generally feel less inflamed than before the HBOT. Plus energy levels, stress resilience and memory have improved. Since those conditions have built up over decades and I’ve been noticing the sinus issues for at least eight years, it feels really amazing to me that I now see improvements in only a couple of months. My sinuses have not completely cleared yet, but they are much better.

I’ve done the first 26 sessions consecutively with barely any breaks, and that didn’t seem to be a problem. In fact, my body seemed to crave the oxygen. After having been away for three weeks and due to stressful circumstances, I felt rather weak and exhausted, and noticed a big improvement again after 7 further sessions.

After the first few sessions, I was very tired for a while, which has stopped after 10 or so sessions. This happened again when resuming sessions after the three weeks break, but is much better already.

I also notice that being in the chamber has a very calming effect. After feeling very stressed yesterday and measuring a pulse rate just under 140 with the pulse oximeter, I measured again after the session and the pulse rate was down to 76, so the hyperoxia seems to be incredibly relaxing.

So I am very happy with the effects so far.

That sounds good.

Maybe you should use more than one pillow if you want to read. Also a USB fan might be a good idea for summertime. You may tell that the users they should be clean before using the HBOT. Also a small clock is handy inside the HBOT so you can know how time you have left.

Inside our chamber, we have a clip on LED lamp, a battery powered fan, a small flashlight, a timer and three pillows.

Rules are: Be clean when you use the chamber, including your hair.

Wear some kind of covering clothing that is also clean.

Some use a big beach towel because they are picky. I don't. Since I am clean and covered, I just get in there. Keeps me from getting tangled up with excess fabric.

So far, everyone has been pretty good. Washing the mat cover and the pillow cases when needed is all I do. I'm not OCD about it.

Everyone has their own mask.

We have two types of masks. Here is the first kind:

The second kind is like this:
1662461053104.png

As you can see, the second one wraps around the chin while the first one does not. There is also a slightly different angle of the tubing in respect of the face.

I like the first one best because when I wear it, I allow a little space at the bottom to remain open for my exhalations to exit. The kind that wraps around the chin does not allow for this. Also, the tube connection on the first one, allows me to aim the outflow directly at my nose and it is constantly flooded with the fresh oxygen. The second type sends it upward and my nose does not even feel it. I don't feel that I get the full flow especially when the mask is full of my exhaled air. My nose isn't big enough to extend into that nose space when the mask is flat to my face.

So, I like type 1 best and feel that I'm getting the full flow of oxygen right on my nose and can't imagine that I could increase the amount in any way because it is right there and I'm pulling it in straight and full with every breath.

We use the face mask but we are thinking of switching to the non-rebreather type because, apparently, it allows to inhale air with a higher percentage of oxygen.
I just remembered that I purchased a mask for previous treatments and it turns out to be a non-rebreather type, and it does seem to supply more oxygen. well worth it to purchase I think.
What type of non-rebreather mask did you get? The ones I've found so far say that they are single-use/disposable masks. I don't know if they can be used multiple times.
