Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): General information and discussion of Home Units

We (all family members) finally decided that it was the right time to purchase a hyperbaric chamber. Thank for everyone who posted on this tread and the abundance and precise knowledge shared about it benefice, adding it to our wellness protocol as a complement to diet, sauna, exercise etc... Became obvious. My daughter who train a lot, she will run her first half marathon next Sunday, follow many professional athlete and all use an hyperbaric chamber as a complement and help for performance and recuperation.

Our final choice for the hyperbaric chamber is this model Oxyrevo Apex32 - Oxyrevo Hyperbaric Chamber system with “all-in-one- machine”. The same model that LQB presented a few weeks ago in this post, Hyperbaric Chamber

I like the feature that it offered, the possibility to choose the ata pressure from 1.2 to 1.5 ata, because being a scuba diver I know that some people have difficulty to equilibrate the pressure within the ears canals as I saw many time during dive so it may be necessary in certain case (person) to go gradually with the pressure level in these occasion. Other feature are the all in one (more compact) and design in general as for example the many windows (could help someone who as mild claustrophobia) on the hyperbaric chamber and the esthetic of the unit in general.

So thanks for LQB for is post and his presentation of the Oxyrevo Apex 32 HBOT we contacted Tommy the sale manager at Oxyrevo for an estimate for the cost of a unit and shipping. As LQB said in his posts, Tommy knows about and follows this tread on the forum and trough the good relation that he developed with LQB he is offering the members of this forum a good discount (10%). As well, there was a 2-3 weeks delay for production but this morning Tommy email me to say that because I was from the forum, he pushed the production of my unit in priority and that it should be ready within 7 to 10 days for shipping.

Also, I contacted LQB for an evaluation of the product and he is totally satisfy with it performance so far (17 sessions).

So we are all looking forward to start our HBOT therapy and I really appreciate LQB effort in facilitating and negotiating with Tommy on my behalf and the members of the forum.

I received my unit Oxyrevo Apex32 - Oxyrevo Hyperbaric Chamber last Tuesday and assemble it yesterday. With tips from Tommy (oxyrevo sale manager) it was easy and I didn’t have any difficulty. The unit is well built and fulfill all the promises feature as posted on their site or show on LQB post. All components (gauge, pressure valve, pressure selector, release valve etc...) are of very good quality and placed for an easy reach or reading. It reaches the maximum 1.5 ata in 8 min. and I really appreciate the many window (7) so you have light coming in and don’t feel too confined during a session. I did my second session this morning and so far so good, no reaction from it but it is still early and that may change. Love the all in one unit but was surprised of it weight ( 195 pound ) but managed with my wife to get it in the basement. I bought some non-rebreather mask, should receive them next week and see the difference with the basic one that came with the unit.

There was some hiccup in the purchase off the unit that came from the Chinese bank system. First to pay for it, they asked for a money transfer from bank to bank (wire transfer) something that was new for me. My bank offer it so it was easily deal with but, the Chinese financial system is quite different from our as I learned, it want to know a lot of information when foreign currency is transferred in China and they asked me a few document (identity documents) that I wasn’t ready to give them. It took some time for me to understand with LQB and Tommy is aid that this was just a feature of the Chinese banking system and finally they accepted the transfer with me giving a min. of my personal information.

So this was the hiccup but as Tommy and LGB promised, the product is very well made, high quality and I’m totally satisfied with it. I would recommend this product to anyone and I’m sure that you would be very satisfied with it.

Here is a photo as of the chamber, as my wife was doing her first seance that show some of it feature and the large window. The windows are 4 layers thick and is a technology developed by the company. It permit many and larger windows. Valves are custom made specifically for the hyperbaric chamber.

I'm booking in my first session for next week sometime! It'll be my first time in a chamber since the mid 80s and it goes up to 2 ATA. I'm looking forward to it and I'll let you know how it goes.

I've got a question, one of my friends was injured by jab that almost killed her. She has made a good recovery but now suffers chronic and debilitating hives and hair loss. Do you think this would help her?

Cheers!

I don't know about those particular symptoms, but given it seems to helps with long covid it may be worth a shot.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the treatment of long COVID: early evaluation of a highly promising intervention

Background Long COVID is a common occurrence following COVID-19 infection. The most common symptom reported is fatigue. Limited interventional treatment options exist. We report the first evaluation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for long COVID treatment.
Methods A total of 10 consecutive patients received 10 sessions of HBOT to 2.4 atmospheres over 12 days. Each treatment session lasted 105 minutes, consisting of three 30-minute exposures to 100% oxygen, interspersed with 5-minute air breaks. Validated fatigue and cognitive scoring assessments were performed at day 1 and 10. Statistical analysis was with Wilcoxon signed-rank testing reported alongside effect sizes.
Results HBOT yielded a statistically significant improvement in the Chalder fatigue scale (p=0.0059; d=1.75 (very large)), global cognition (p=0.0137; d=–1.07 (large)), executive function (p=0.0039; d=–1.06 (large)), attention (p=0.0020; d=–1.2 (very large)), information processing (p=0.0059; d=–1.25 (very large)) and verbal function (p=0.0098; d=–0.92 (large)).
Conclusion Long COVID-related fatigue can be debilitating, and may affect young people who were previously in economic employment. The results presented here suggest potential benefits of HBOT, with statistically significant results following 10 sessions.

OK, so I just got a couple of non-rebreather masks. It works fine for me but for my girlfriend, who has a smaller head, it's simply too big. Has anybody else run into this problem? And if so, did you find a solution?

Also, what have you set the oxygen flow at? The default from Zoy-Tech is 5 L/min but I would assume that the more oxygen the better, so 10 L/min would be preferred. The support/sales person there will check with the engineering department to instruct me in how to adjust it.

It’s gotta help cure anything. It’s very supportive of the Krebs cycle which generates ATP for cells. Additionally DNA can be turned on or off in low oxygen environments which will cause cancers to grow. Simply depriving tissues of oxygen can cause cancer.

There’s not too much danger with HBOT at the right pressures. It’s what the body was designed to run on.

I got some non-rebreather one's ( adult size) . I asked them whether this mask is reusable. But, haven't received the reply yet.

Mask comes with 7ft tube ( transparent one in my case) and mask. one end of transparent pipe is connected mask. I connected the other end of transparent tube to white tube( zoy tek oxygen supply line) where headset goes. the connection between oxygen supply white tube and transparent mask tube can come out, if pulled hard. As of now it worked well for us. But I plan to change that connection.

If you carefully look at the Zoy tek oxygen supply line at the bottom edge inside the chamber, It is one transparent pipe connected to other white pipe with a junction in between. other end of white pipe goes to head set. I removed the white pipe and replaced it with 7ft pipe I got with mask. I haven't tried with it yet.

no reaction from it but it is still early and that may change

Well I should say no negative reaction so far but a good one after a few session.

My left leg was giving me a lot of pain for 9-10 days prior to start my session HBOT. My daughter trained for a half marathon and after the race (August 14) she asked me if I would like to star training so we could race together next year. I use to train with her when she was younger and did a few race in the region. So, mid August I started training but may have pushed it a bit to much augmenting distance to fast. By my Birthday (Aug. 28) we when together for a 7 km run. Everything was fine till then but after my next run a few days later, I developed a ache on my upper left leg that was getting worse by the following days. I stopped training of course thinking that it will go away in a few days but it didn't. I could lift anything it was really painful and had difficulty going up step for the prior 10 days.

Well after 3 session of HBOT the pain, ache is gone. I don't know if it related to the HBOT but I'm so relieve that the pain when away. I was discouraged this week that I couldn't climb any hill in the forest, couldn't go to do my breathing exercise and grounding in the forest by the lake. I was starting to feel old .

I will restart training but won't push it this time.

I think you should see an osteopath because it can be that your body is unbalanced and one of your leg work harder than the other. The HBOT treated your muscle but the pain will certainly happen again if you run once more. Anyway I would try to find the root cause.

I recently got my HBOT chamber and had five sessions this week. I've been suffering from chronic back pain for 20 years and I know that part of it is chronic inflammation. After 3 sessions there's been a noticeable decrease in part of the inflammation and increased mobility of the lower back. I was very surprised to experience such a fast effect. Obviously, the majority of the chronic pain remains but just feeling improvement is really up-lifting. Also, I feel that my skin is becoming more smooth and supple than it normally is. So I'm very optimistic.

I was going to take an appointment with my osteopath this week but thought that it wasn't necessary anymore. Maybe I will go anyway and more she was running for Canada when young, she did the commonwealth game (10 km) so she may have an idea of what happen.

HBOT really helps the circulation, so maybe the pain in the leg was a blood clot and HBOT cleared it?
It could be Laura, never thought of it being the reason as I'm still quit active and it was not muscular. I was thinking more along an inflammation of a nerve.

I did a walk in the forest after I first posted, didn't climb to the mountain top but there was some hill. It is not 100% back to normal but compare to a few days ago was a amazing change.

Will let you know my osteopath diagnosed after my appointment.
