Let me try an explanation as to why the two, riling up and un-riling, are generally not complementary.
Without any prejudice, or intent to speak on Laura's behalf (heaven forbid!), this just happens to touch on a subject I have been interested in and researching – essentially on my own - for many years.

You may think that people (the ‘sheeple’) have a short attention span, or are prone to lose interest in a trite subject, that we’re generally not masochistically inclined, etc. but that’s only half the story. Fact is that the ‘science’ of propaganda has progressed enormously since Goebbels, techniques have been developed and refined based on understanding how we, normal people, work. In that, not only the message matters, but also the timing and the form of delivery. Realizing, then repeatedly experiencing the underlying mechanism has been a major eye-opener for me: the dynamics of how our natural empathic tendencies and openness are being cynically exploited for nefarious purposes, applying what amounts to nothing less than a surgical technique.

In a nutshell, the process goes approximately like this:
A breach is created into our emotional center by force, thus making it open, and receptive. This can be effected by exposure to a traumatic experience, an emotionally arousing experience, a disturbing experience. It does not matter if the experience or image is a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ one, as long as its intensity is as strong as possible.
The exposure causes, for a short period, the opening up of our emotional center, aka the heart. While the heart is receptive, a packet of information can be driven into it through that opening, like a wedge. Eventually, the heart closes again: enclosing, and thus solidifying whatever information has been conveyed.

The technique has many practical applications. One of the most common is in advertising. The mechanism usually happens following a very simple script, and in a matter of seconds. I am sure you all have seen examples of this. Let me give you two.
Scene at breakfast. An infant, cute little girl, reaches for a slice of bread from her mother, spreads butter on it, then an abundant helping of marmalade, you can see the anticipation in her eyes. Then she turns around speeding away from the table to go savour her masterpiece. She stumbles on a toy and falls on the floor, and the camera focuses on the poor buttered bread, splattered and ruined.
An off voice says “Zurich insurance, because accidents happen” with the Zurich insurance logo now showing. Or something like that, but you get the idea: The information is obviously “Zurich insurance”, and it has been conveyed to the viewer by utilising emotion as vector, i.e. information has been piggybacked on an emotion.

Another famous example is the ad campaign by (forget his name now, famous photographer, Enrico ???) for Benetton, featuring detailed disturbing or shocking pictures, with a relatively small label ‘Benetton’ (IIRC).
Because we work a lot with associations, impressions like that are hard to dislodge, and so is the associated bit of information. The information is reliably ‘glued’ to the emotion.

So, or so I think, back to MH17, once the message has been conveyed using this technique, any later debunking, correction, truth does not worry the propagandist, because in order to have a comparable effect on the people and to dislodge the information, the same technique would have to be employed, possibly in an even greater intensity. A “shock” ?

You see the same dynamic in the whole 9-11 scenario, including an "official" who comes out with a story: Ted Olsen and the famous/infamous/impossible call from his wife, Babs, allegedly aboard Flight 77.

Thanks for expressing the concept much more succinctly and clearly.
Eventually I’d like to start a topic digging a bit deeper into the subject (the mechanics) because it has such a wide range of corollaries and possible insights, and because knowledge protects. I just don’t know where to post something like this yet.

It's a similar mechanism that is allegedly used in trauma-based 'mind-programming' where a shock to the nervous system of the subject causes the conscious mind to be temporarily disengaged leaving the unconscious mind or 'system 1' open for direct and unfiltered (by system 2) imprinting with data that then becomes a belief for the person. It seems that even a relatively mild emotional shock of which the person is not the direct recipient but rather one of millions of recipients via the news media suffices to open people up in this way and deliver the lie. The fact that the media is seen as authoritative and people have no reason not to believe what it says tends to facilitate the process.

I've read an interview in Russian with Mikhail Kroosh, Major General, head of Russian ground air defence. He is a top professional particularly in BUK M1 systems. And in the interview he claims he is 95 percent sure that BUK M1 could not shoot down MH 17. He gives a number of reasons for that, but the one which seems important (and I don't remember it mentioned anywhere?) is: the shrapnel hit the lower part of the plane, while BUK M1 missiles hit targets from above using a "pull-up/dive" mechanism. He says this is the only way BUK M1 works.

Not sure if the whole interview is worth translation into English, it's rather long. But I thought I'd share this particular detail here, fwiw.

The crew onboard had received a threat about a possible device on board and Qatar Airways immediately took all the necessary precautions to alert British authorities.
Wonder who made the anonymous tip.

Dutch break off mission at Ukraine crash site

The Netherlands is breaking off its repatriation mission at the site of the crashed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, prime minister Mark Rutte said on Wednesday evening.

Rutte was speaking at a hastily convened press conference and said it is 'too dangerous' to continue the mission to find human remains and personal belongings of the victims who died when the plane came down in eastern Ukraine.

'We do not want to lay our people open to unnecessary risks,' Rutte told the assembled Dutch media.

Invasion fears

Fighting continues around the site between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russia rebels. There are also fears of a Russian invasion with reports of troops amassing on the border.

Rutte said both considerations led to the postponement of the mission.

A small team will remain at the crash site and local people can still help with the collection of personal belongings, Rutte said.

Postponement

He emphasised that the mission has not been halted but postponed. 'We are stopping for now, but we are not stopping,' he said. 'When the situation is safe enough, investigators will return.'

A military plane is expected to land at Eindhoven airport on Thursday carrying the personal belongings that have been held in the Ukraine town of Charkov.

In the article above, it states that the air traffic control center was "seized" shortly before the downing of MH-17, yet I haven't noticed any reports, that have questioned that claim or as to why that happened?

There is a great deal of mystery about what caused Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 to come down in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.
One of the mysteries is why an Israeli named Yaron Mofaz took a photo of the plane before it left the airport in Amsterdam and then sold the photo to Reuters, who published it shortly after the plane went down. WHO IS YARON MOFAZ?

According to Yaron Mofaz's Facebook page, he worked at Israir Airlines, studied at ‎Tel Aviv University, and lives in Ramat HaSharon, near Herzliya, Israel. There is a gang of the Israeli Mofaz family in New York that runs an aviation-related company called Pentagon 2000 Software. On July 23, 2014, an Irish branch company called Pentagon 2000 Software Erp Limited was set up in Dublin, Ireland. The company's listed directors are Gabriel Mofaz in New York and Yaron Mofaz in Israel.

The fact that the Mofaz company works with GA Telesis is important because this is the aircraft disassembly company that owned a twin of the Malaysia Airlines plane that disappeared in March 2014. The GA Telesis twin Boeing 777 was a former Malaysia Airlines aircraft that the company sent to Israel in November 2013, although they had previously said that the aircraft would be disassembled in the United States.

Boeing-777 was downed by Ukrainian MiG-29, Romanian expert says

Romanian military expert, pilot and former deputy commander of Otopeni military airport, Valentin Vasilescu, presented his version of the tragedy of the Malaysian Boeing in the sky over Ukraine. According to the expert, the plane was shot down by Ukrainian MiG-29, possibly piloted by Polish pilot.

Valentin Vasilescu refutes the theory, according to which the plane had been shot down by surface-to-air missile, which, according to American and Ukrainian versions, the militia launched from Buk-1M mobile unit.

"A surface-to-air missile, with a warhead weighing from 40 to 70 kilos, explodes not inside the object of destruction, but near it, at a distance of 50-100 meters. The detonation of the warhead produces a shock wave that disperses fragments with high velocities. They can puncture the fuselage of an aircraft, but given the size of the Boeing-777 (73 meters long, with a large wingspan), they can not lead to the destruction of the aircraft in separate smaller parts, as it happens with the aircraft that are 7-10 times smaller. Such fragments, when hitting a Boeing-777, can rupture the fuel system of the aircraft. The fuel can spread on the fuselage and wings, setting the whole plane on fire," said the expert.

"Similarly, if the hydraulic system had been damaged, the Boeing 777 would have lost control of the flight. Thus, if such a large aircraft like Boeing-777 of Malaysia Airlines had been hit by surface-to-air missile, the crew would have been able to warn traffic control services of the situation on board. But we do not see anything like that in registers," Valentin Vasilescu said.

The plane, as shown by black boxes, collapsed in the air, but this is only possible in case of a horizontal nosedive from the height of ten thousand feet, when the maximum speed limit is exceeded. "If the plane spins, the crew is very often unable to control the aircraft. Instantaneous depressurization of the cockpit may also occur," the expert said.

Douglas Barrie, a researcher of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said that the edges of a fragment of the cockpit fuselage on the right side were bent from the inside to the outside. This indicates an explosion that occurred inside the plane, which is impossible if the Boeing MH-17 had been shot down by missile equipped with a proximity fuse.

The plane could not be shot down by Buk-M1 as there was no electromagnetic radiation from the missile complex registered. There was no thick plume or white condensation of 10-35 kilometers from the earth, which appears and lasts for several minutes after launch.

The expert notes that he is not alone in his opinion. For example, Gordon Duff, a veteran of the Vietnam War, currently a security consultant, believes that the Malaysian Boeing could not be shot down by surface-to-air or air-to-air missile. According to him, it was either a bomb explosion on board, or "a gun of a Ukrainian fighter jet." "It was a diabolical brain that planned the attack, as flight MH-17 was shot down from an onboard gun. The gun left traces that make one believe that it was a small bomb that exploded inside," he said. Canadian expert Michael Bociurkiw wrote in his report that part of the aircraft fuselage was dotted with "shrapnel-like, almost machine gun-like holes." He said the damage was inspected by Malaysian aviation-security officials. Bociurkiw believes that Boeing MH-17 was shot down from small arms or artillery weapons of a fighter aircraft that had a high fire rate.

The expert referred to the report from BBC correspondent Olga Ivzina from July 23, 2014, which was later censored by the company management. The report provided testimony from residents of the Donetsk region, who confirmed the presence of another aircraft in the sky over the area, where the catastrophe occurred.

According to Valentin Vasilescu, evidence from Russian military experts about the participation of a Ukrainian fighter aircraft in the destruction of the Boeing were quite convincing. He recalled that at the press conference of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on July 21, 2014, Chief of Air Staff, Lieutenant-General Igor Makushev and Head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Andrei Kartopolov, noted that at the time when the airliner disappeared from radar screens, radar stations of the Russian Defense Ministry registered another aircraft, supposedly a Su-25. The aircraft is capable of gaining altitude of up to ten kilometers and can be equipped with air-to-air missiles with a range of 12 kilometers, capable of striking targets at a distance of five kilometers. The unidentified aircraft was approaching the liner at a distance of three to five kilometers and then continued to patrol the crash site.

However, the Romanian expert believes that it was not a Ukrainian Su-25, as the plane could not reach the altitude of 10,300 meters and strike the Boeing due to the poor level of training of Ukrainian flight personnel and technical imperfection of old Su-25. Vasilescu indicates that radars show Su-25 identically to MiG-29 fighter jet, as the planes have identical reflective surface area. "The altitude limit for MiG-29 is 18,013 meters, so the height, at which the Malaysian plane was flying - 10,300 meters - was easy to achieve." "The Su-25 does not have enough acceleration due to its maximum speed of 975 kilometers per hour, so it can not catch up with a Boeing-777, and follow it at a distance of 58 kilometers at a speed of 900 kilometers per hour and at an altitude of ten thousand meters, keeping the velocity of about 200-300 meters per second, to attack it from on-board weapons. A Mig-29 has two high thrust engines, allowing it to develop the speed of 2000 kilometers per hour. The fleet of the Ukrainian Air Force has fighter aircraft MiG-29 that are capable of intercepting Boeing-777. The fighters are based near Kiev and in Ivano-Frankivsk," the expert concludes.

Vasilescu added that MiG-29 of the Ukrainian army are armed with GSh-301, 30 millimeter gun, with a rate of 1,500 rounds per minute. The gun was loaded with 150 shells containing tungsten alloy. "These shells go through targets, leaving traces of perfectly circular shape. They do not explode inside the cockpit, they are not incendiary, but can kill the crew and destroy the cockpit, which can be seen in the presence of holes with their edges opening outside on the opposite wall.

Thus, the Malaysian Boeing MH-17, according to the Romanian expert, was shot down from a gun of a MiG-29 aircraft, rather than a missile. Even air-to-air missiles, the expert says, R-60, for example, have a proximity fuse. In this case, fragments would fly 360 degrees around and strike the entire fuselage of the aircraft, not just the cockpit. In addition, air-to-air missiles are equipped with heat seekers that target the most heated part of the aircraft, i.e. the engines. The crashed Boeing had the cockpit destroyed. The death of the crew and the depressurization of the cockpit made the Boeing spin instantly, and the plane fell apart at an altitude of two thousand meters. In the air, there was neither fire, nor bomb explosion.

The Romanian expert noted that Polish military pilots are best trained in south-eastern Europe and have many hours of flight time (180-200 hours per year). "They are familiar with the airspace of Ukraine, they took part in all exercises that Ukrainian Air Force has organized in the last four or five years. Polish Air Force has 31 MiG-29 jets, 16 of which were re-equipped by specialists of Israel Aerospace Industries. The planes received new avionics (multifunction color displays (MFCD), GPS-guided weapons, data-link support, UHF / VHF RT-8200 Rockwell Collins radio station and MDP video technology, etc.). Polish pilots were trained by Israeli instructors who have extensive experience in destroying a variety of air targets, concluded Valentin Vasilescu.

It is specified that this correspondence is conducted after 9 o'clock in the evening, that is some hours later after an air crash.

Also correspondence of Oleynik and the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Valery Geletey was at disposal of mass media:

- I remind about your (Oleynik's) chief's promise: I from you didn't wait for scenarios of reportings! Tomorrow morning, when you will transfer me the report, scenarios and video which you made came to me, - writes with Geletey on July 14.
- Valery Viktorovich [Geletey], the chief gave a task to the director of the channel a week ago! This swine lost fear – tightened with terms! But today they already finished everything. Composed more than 10 scenarios, for different options of succession of events, on the first two days. Now work over following three around the clock. I will send all to you in the morning, - Oleynik answers.
- And video don't forget – about it Pyotr Alekseevich [Poroshenko] asked me.
- I got it. I will make everything. See you.

In dialogue on July 16, that is one days prior to crash of the Malaysian Boeing, Geletey and Kolomoysky's deputy discuss need to hold communication via the closed channel.
