Music Collaboration

Hi everyone,

I'd like to contribute too, my main instrument is the guitar. Just finished a short clip 20~ sec, that was something I had playing in my mind, feel free to edit/criticize/express opinion.

If you want I could upload the tracks w/o effects and the midi too. I'll give a try to create something for the story of evil magician.

Hope it can inspire other ones to create something better, as the ones in here inspired me to try it

I don't have too much space on my own homepage, but I've uploaded an mp3 (160 kbps) with BASS added to your short tune. There's now 4 bars: http://members.pingnet.ch/nbt/Ideas2_231_bass.mp3

The file will disappear in 2 weeks, so get it now and upload it wherever you like.

Apart from it slowing down in the opening sequence, it turned out ok. Give me some feedback.

Nice Bidoche. If you would like, post it at the Hub. It won't disappear in 2 weeks and we can make stuff available in one location.

Moderators: I sent Bidoche a PM with 2 words, strictly the passwords for the Hub and nothing more. Hope this is ok.

OK Cholas, I've added the short clip Ideas (Strike + Bidoche) to the Hub, so if anyone wants to add something, please visit:

http://www.reverbnation.com/#!/cassbandproject

and download the track.

Thanks AI for your speedy thumbs up. FWIW, I really liked your music you shared a while back. You're likely pretty busy right now, but......

Thanks too Bidoche, This is looking like it will work. :headbanger:

The link isn't quite right though. Check page 7 of this thread/modify?

Nomad, I can't upload either abstract's/your piece or with Breton's voice, apparently it's too large. If you or anyone else has time...Imo, "Breton's abstract nomad" would be an excellent addition.

Video folks: We can add videos too. Check it out when you can. :)

I have been away from reading all the various threads that I have been following for awhile: the general law or something (like 3 kids?) is keeping me so busy I just get little short bursts to look at the forum lately, and so I have only had time to look at a few threads in the last little while.

In any case, I caught up to this discussion and I am pleased to see all your activity here. I still am interested in everything although as I complained, my musical ability is non-existent.

I am working on my speaking though, as I think that could be useful in the right place, with this kind of group.

As for my earlier voice overs, I keep thinking that they should have been done a little less "emphatically". I did get some feedback from one person that perhaps if they were more conversational, they would be easier to listen to multiple times. So as he said, the first 1 or 2 times listening to them they were ok, but not thereafter.Anyways I will keep that feedback in mind for the future.

And if anyone wanted to go ahead with that Evil Magician or "Real enemy of the souls" idea that I proposed, go ahead: I posted it as a free idea any one can go forward with if they felt so inclined.

Yeah and sending a password in a PM sounds pretty reasonable and safe use of PMs to me! :)

Well I should have written a lot earlier in this thread , but like Breton , our small baby is taking up most of my time. BUT! I would love to get involved in some way , either musically , vocally , or whatever is needed that I can help with. I have a 16 track studio , guitars , keyboard , mixers and all the usual stuff. I dont work to well with computer , digital music software thingies , but i can do things with garageband and sound editors.

Received the login and password from cholas and checked out the site. Not sure how to navigate the site that well as of yet, and am gonna have to figure out a way of recording and adding on to the library, but seems interesting.

Also, I have tons of lyrics and stuff that can used, or mashed around depending on how they fit. Not much of a singer, but when in the groove, lyrics and ideas come fairly easily.

btw, everything sounded amazing! Instantly as I was listening to it lyrics started flashing in my head.

Cholas, I see what you mean. The correct link is http://www.reverbnation.com/cassbandproject

For information, uploads have to be in MP3 format. I've found that keeping bit rate at around 160 kbps provides a pretty decent overall sound and lends to smaller files.

cool got the link...sorry I haven't been around for a bit, like many others I have been rather busy. I will try to upload something soon...I love this idea, can;t wait to get my musical crative juices flowing again :headbanger:

Good to hear the interest is still there folks.

The reverbnation site is pretty straightforward to use, just way too flashy! But there are options for advertising/selling(to donate to SoTT of course) of material that might come in handy eventually.

DanielS, the song 'Everything' does not have finished lyrics and since you mentioned an interest, it could use some help. It gets played live quite often and I just make them up on-the-fly, but it really is less than ideal. A powerful message would be great. Not to mention some drums/percussion, keys, banjo.....what have ya. ;)

I sent, as advised, the login and password(only) to those who have expressed interest. Anyone else?

I hope to have some time this week to experiment more with Audacity and mixing other's material. From previous samples, this free tool seems to work pretty well.

If folks want to record and keep larger files to work with such as AIFF , WAV , or even larger mp3 files i own a music site which has a number of artists signed up to it. I never go anywhere near it usually , but one could maybe use it to upload in said file formats to keep quality until final mixdown. Then you can put them up in reverbnation if you like.

Cholas I will pm you the site name and if its a way to go , then sign up , let me know you´ve done so if you do and i will allocate everything that is needed for group projects. One can actually sell stuff from there to.

Thanks AWTF. Being fairly ignorant as to the needs of doing this type of thing, recording/mixing/posting, I haven't an answer as to better site options.

We've used reverbnation for a while now and it works ok. And a nice thing is that no one calloborating 'owns' it, which makes it neutral as far as the ideas mentioned early on in this thread. That being said, 8MB does sound pretty small and being MP3-only, somewhat limiting. For example, abstract and Nomad's piece is too large atm.

Thanks for your offer. Ideas anyone?

Never thought of the fact that i own the site could be a problem , though i see what you mean. You can also upload videos there to. Hmmm. Well its available for whatever , if needed and you can have as many pieces there as needed GB rather than MB size .

Just wanted to note that I got sent a password and such to join the project. I've been on tour and am just about to move cross-country so it will be a few days before I have a chance to check this out. Thanks!
