Putin on TV: Documentaries and TV appearances by the Russian president

Re: The Unknown Vladimir Putin

I find it very interesting that all these studies are focused on Putin. We've had the Pentagon study that he may have Aspergers Syndrome. Another Pentagon study of his body language. And now this. He certainly is the man everybody wants to be able to know, read and understand.

A worldwide fascination of the man. Personally, I can't fault him! :)

Is Vladimir Putin immortal? Pictures from almost 100 years ago seem to show him looking fighting fit
Conspiracy theorists have decided that the Russian leader is immortal due to pictures from 100 years ago which show his lookalike

Is Vladimir Putin immortal? The answer is, of course, no.

But a photograph has appeared showing the Russian president has "survived" 100 years with his appearance almost unchanged

The picture, taken in 1920, shows a Russian soldier who has an uncanny resemblance to the country's current leader.

Yet another photo, taken of a Russian soldier in 1941, also looks uncannily like Mr Putin and the man who was pictured 20 years prior.

Perhaps the key to his long life is riding horses while shirtless, or staying fit and healthy by taking part in a variety of sports.

Conspiracy theorists have suggested that there is more than coincidence or just good health behind these photographs - they think that the Russian leader could be immortal.

"On social networks are circulating pictures from 1920, and in 1941, for which some people claim that they are pictures of Mr Putin," Disclose.tv reported.

"In fact, supporters of the thesis that Putin is almighty and immortal have launched a story that their president is a mythical creature that resides on our planet for hundreds, if not thousands of years."

This is not the first time Mr Putin has been accused of being immortal.

BuzzFeed suggested earlier this year that the Russian leader could, in fact, be the model and inspiration for the Mona Lisa.

Or was/is he here for a reason when a great war unfolds? :/

Immortal Putin and yes I'm putting this in baked noodles before you can :)

So I just read in SOTT that there is a bit of a movement going around that seems to recognize Putin in various parts of history (Mona Lisa, war photos and the like).
After reading the article I immediately thought of the research done by Laura in High Strangeness (at least I think that's where I read it) about the possibility of people who have perfected the alchemical process and have gained either special powers or longevity of life (or both). Anyway if this were the case with Putin then this might explain his ability to see the world situation better than all his "peers" and act in a sustaining manner for the betterment of humankind. (implying that he has seen it all and knows the best route).
Obviously I don't really believe this although I'm not closed minded enough to not entertain the possibility. Any thoughts??

That's quite a spin:

“During his presidency, Obama spent more than 1,100 hours on the golf course — or one-and-a-half months without breaks for sleep or food. He played golf 247 times during his presidency, breaking the record of Dwight Eisenhower who did it 210 times.”

The hours spent on the course are probably not on par with the hours spent thinking about the American peoples well-being, he's rather handicapped in that department.

“Obama schmoe”

Re: The Unknown Vladimir Putin

History often repeats itself - if lessons are ignored. Like Caesar's trait of Clemency and pardoning his enemies, President Putin has followed suit. Maybe in Putin's case, he has recognized "the Lesson" to be learned, in regards to Khodorkovsky and is making a correction?

Caesar’s Clemency
https://100falcons.wordpress.com/2009/04/20/caesars-clemency/

The most outstanding thing in Caesar’s book on the Civil War is his clemency.
Again and again he pardoned his enemies in the hope that they would become his supporters.

The Romans themselves were impressed by this new device. They declared it a virtue and erected a temple to Caesar’s Clemency.

He had decided that clemency was a better tool than vengeance, a better means to his end.

Sometimes this worked and sometimes it didn’t.

Clemency is certainly not the most efficient policy. Tradition (and instinct) had always prescribed the immediate elimination of your enemy. What if he promises to be good and then secretly plots to undo you? Or joins the enemy army again and you have to fight him a second time?

In fact Caesar had to re-fight many of the generals he freed after beating them the first time. Some of them he had to fight twice more.

But he was ultimately right, wasn’t he? In the long run clemency is the best policy.

In Caesar’s case there was no long run because his pardoned enemies assassinated him.

Russia issues arrest warrant for Kremlin foe Khodorkovsky
http://news.yahoo.com/russia-puts-khodorkovsky-international-wanted-list-investigators-085441095.html

Moscow (AFP) - Russia said on Wednesday it had issued an international arrest warrant for top opposition leader Mikhail Khodorkovsky, as Moscow ramped up the pressure on a leading critic of President Vladimir Putin.

The announcement from the Investigative Committee, a top law enforcement body which reports directly to Putin, came nearly two years to the day since the Kremlin strongman stunned Russia by announcing that his political enemy, who had spent a decade in prison, would be pardoned and set free.

Russian investigators earlier this month charged the former oil tycoon in absentia with organising the 1998 murder of a mayor in Siberia.

Khodorkovsky, 52, was also charged with the attempted murders of two other people.

Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said in a statement that an international arrest warrant had been issued for the Kremlin critic, who lives abroad and spends much of his time in London.

Russia wants Khodorkovsky arrested abroad on murder charges

Russia has issued an international arrest warrant for Mikhail Khodorkovsky on suspicion of ordering a contract killing, investigators said on Wednesday, prompting the former oil tycoon to declare the Kremlin had gone mad.

The move came a day after armed police raided the Moscow offices of a pro-democracy movement founded by Khodorkovsky, one of President Vladimir Putin's most outspoken critics.

Khodorkovsky, once Russia's richest man, was pardoned by Putin in 2013 and freed after a decade in jail on fraud charges he says were politically motivated. He has angered the Kremlin in recent months with critical statements.

He accused Putin in November of leading Russia into a 1970s Soviet-style period of stagnation that could eventually trigger the country's collapse. Earlier this month he said a peaceful revolution was "inevitable"

Russian investigators said they had concluded that Khodorkovsky, then head of the now defunct Yukos oil company, had ordered subordinates to kill Vladimir Petukhov, the mayor of Nefteyugansk, a Siberian oil town, in 1998.

Petukhov was shot dead by a gunman near his office.

Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for Russia's Investigative Committee, said Khodorkovsky's motive for allegedly ordering the official's murder was related to Petukhov's demands for Yukos to pay local taxes he said it was evading.

"WANTED FUGITIVE"

Markin said Khodorkovsky had also ordered the killing of a businessman, Evgeny Rybin, who was shot at in 1998 and had his car bombed the following year but survived.

"For the investigation, it is completely obvious that these crimes were carried out for mercenary motives," Markin said in a statement. "We declare Mikhail Khodorkovsky a wanted fugitive internationally."

Khodorkovsky denies the allegations and condemned the decision, suggesting it was politically motivated.

"They have gone mad," he said of the Kremlin, saying his arrest in absentia had been approved "without any obvious facts."

He told a news conference earlier this month that the Kremlin had been using the Petukhov murder case against him since 2003 to punish him for speaking out about corruption in Russia.

"The murder was solved that same year, 1998, and the presumed perpetrators were arrested. (But) for some reason, they were then freed and were subsequently killed," he said.

Khodorkovsky left Russia immediately after being released in 2013, and now spends his time mostly in London and Switzerland.

A spokesman for Putin said there was no contradiction between the president pardoning Khodorkovsky and the businessman then being declared an international fugitive.

"The head of state takes decisions about pardoning people on the basis of appeals, but a decision about an investigation or declaring someone a fugitive ... is not taken by him. It is taken by investigators," said the spokesman.

Khodorkovsky Under Arrest in Absentia, Placed on Int'l Wanted List
http://sputniknews.com/russia/20151223/1032184952/khodorkovsky-arrest-absentia.html

The former owner of now defunct Russian Yukos oil company, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, has been placed under arrest in absentia and put on the international wanted list, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said Wednesday.

“After reviewing the report on investigations of high importance cases of the Russian Investigative Committee, the court has placed Mikhail Khodorkovsky under arrest in absentia,” Markin said.

Markin added that Khodorkovsky has also been placed on the international wanted list.

“Mikhail Khodorkovsky has been placed on the international wanted list,” Markin said.

Earlier in December, Mikhail Khodorkovsky had been charged in absentia in organizing the murder of Nefteyugansk Mayor Vladimir Petukhov in 1998.

Moreover, Khodorkovsky was charged for the attempted murder of Petukhov’s companion Vyacheslav Kokoshkin as well as attempted murder of the executive director of the East Petroleum Handelsgez company, Vyacheslav Rybin.

Arrested on October 25, 2003, Khodorkovsky spent 10 years in prison for fraud and tax evasion before being pardoned. Following his release, he was issued a three-month Schengen visa by Switzerland, and later a residence permit.

The scent for men is called Leaders Number One. Its black bottle features Putin’s profile and the caption “Inspired by Vladimir Putin”

Perfume inspired by Vladimir Putin goes on sale in Moscow
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/vladimir-putin/12068901/Perfume-inspired-by-Vladimir-Putin-goes-on-sale-in-Moscow.html

The scent for men, called Leaders Number One , is now on sale in Moscow for 6,000 rubles, or about £57.

The black bottle features Putin’s profile and the caption, “Inspired by Vladimir Putin” – strangely written in English, despite the Russian president’s distaste for the use of English in marketing.

At a presentation of the scent at Moscow’s GUM department store on Thursday, the man behind the scent, Belarussian Vladislav Rekunov, described the scent as “warm, textured, rounded.”

“It is at once soft and, at the same time, firm,” Rekunov was cited as saying in Russian media.

The scent has been released only in limited quantity, with 2,000 bottles made and plans for a women’s version to be made next year.

Russian media cited one of Rekunov’s colleagues as saying the perfume makers had already received orders from China and Germany.

While Russian media described the scent as one reminiscent of the forest – with the smell of pines and fir cones some commentators joked that it smelled more like sanctions, or, as one put it, “gunpowder, blood and oil.”

A cult of personality has sprung up around the Russian president in recent years, steadily gaining momentum as he incurred the wrath of the West with the annexation of Crimea in February 2014.

His portrait has been plastered on T-shirts, mugs, and other souvenirs, and rap songs praising his manly demeanor have even been written and broadcast on Russian airwaves.

Just in case some don't know it, but the "usual" date for Christmas that is celebrated in US, for example, is considered to be a a catholic Christmas in Russia or in other Slavic countries. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on the eve of 7th of January. :wizard: :flowers:

Putin Is an Elf, New Study Finds

Merry Christmas from Russia Insider!

http://russia-insider.com/en/putin-elf-finds-study/ri12012

According to a report by the British Journal of Phrenology, Russian president Vladimir Putin is not human. Instead, the study finds, he is more likely a fictional creature known in popular culture as an “elf,” possibly conjured up by adults for the purpose of scaring naughty children.

“His short stature, coupled with his pointy bald head and sloping nose are suggestive of Dobby the House-Elf from Harry Potter,” stated Dr. I.M. Koeding, a German parapsychologist and primary author on the paper. “His insistence on freedom and independence for the Russian state are reminiscent of Dobby when he was handed a sock by Lucius Malfoy.”

The report was featured in the Dec. 22 edition of the BJP, with the BBC and other major Western media outlets pouncing on the story. The elf study follows up a year of shockingly revelatory studies about Vladimir Putin, ranging from him being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, to the more recent study about his “gunslinger’s gate.” What the Russian public will do with these shocking findings is anybody’s guess.

The paper’s methodology featured “close analysis of Vladimir Putin-themed Tumblr accounts, and also several internet memes.”

“Putin is featured riding magical unicorns, which don’t exist in real life,” Dr. Koeding insists. “This leads us to the inevitable conclusion that Putin is some sort of character from the fantasy universe.”

It cannot be denied that there is a significant amount of evidence that Putin is an elf. He lives in a snow-covered land inhabited by reindeer. He disappeared for an entire month, and then suddenly reappeared, giving no believable explanation for his whereabouts. As the leader of a state involved in military conflict and facing an economic crisis, Putin appears fit and healthy, showing no signs of the stress and strain the comes from being at the helm of a major world power. “It is well-known that elves are immortal,” says Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, host of the History Channel program Ancient Aliens. “Could elvism, as it’s known in cryptozoology, explain why he doesn’t age at the same rate as American leaders? What is up for debate is what from genus and species of elf is Putin descended.”

“Putin was born and raised in the Soviet Union, and the Soviets were known as the Reds. And candy canes are red and white, and elves pass out candy canes at Christmas.” said Maria Alyokhina, senior fellow at the Brookings Institute.

“Santa’s Workshop is obviously Communist,” NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Philip M. Breedlove said in an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe. “It wouldn’t surprise me one damn bit if Putin spent his formative years making toys for kids in exchange for lodging and meals. Yes, it is my firm belief he is an elf.”

However, others remain unconvinced.

“This is Kremlin propaganda,” wrote Anne Applebaum in an outraged Twitter rant. “Clearly, this author is a Russian shill. Putin is nothing so innocuous as an elf who gives out candy to little children.”

Geoffrey Pyatt chimed in on Twitter: “He is much more like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. And Ukraine is like the One Ring for Putin.”

“It is our official position that Putin is an Orc,” read an official State Department press release.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling weighed in, Tweeting: “He’s nothing like Dobby! Actually, I based Voldemort on Vladimir Putin. This study has it all wrong.”

“You have got to be kidding me,” Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a phone call.

“We’re not even going to deign to respond to that,” said Dmitri Peskov, speaking for the Kremlin.

Pyatt and Appebaum can be understood - their sourness apparent. Rowling was a surprise - Voldemort! (had to look him up); must be the old cold-war program she is running parallel to her books character.
