Putin Recognizes Donbass Republics, Sends Russian Military to 'Denazify' Ukraine

Putin may not be the evil dictator the system portrays him as, but he's also not a 'saint'. He's not going to let someone attempt a coup/mutiny then not respond in kind. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

That’s an important point I think. I think everyone who lives by the sword has to expect to also die by it, including those military/Wagner people that traveled with Prig. I think that is somewhat of an explicit and sometimes implicit understanding everyone has who is living by the sword. When you join any type of military service and/or spy network you are living by the sword. Or, on the other hand, it is a whole different understanding and approach toward people who haven’t decided to live by the sword, including civilians. Putin likely views it in that way.

I would bet that Putin probably gave Prig another chance to not die considering his actions following the „coup attempt“. But Prig, as the self obsessed prig that he was, blew that opportunity to the wind, by continuing his bad actions. With the consequences we see now.

There was an "exchange of pleasantries". Yesterday, Rybar reported the destruction of the Russian S-300 complex in the Crimea.
Zvinchuk: APU attacked Cape Tarkhankut with three anti-ship missiles
On August 23, the Ukrainian military attacked the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, targeting Cape Tarkhankut, where key military facilities are located. During the previous weeks, the AFU actively monitored the actions on the peninsula using NATO satellites. Such information is given by Mikhail Zvinchuk.

According to Zvinchuk, this time the Ukrainian side decided to change tactics. Approaching the Crimea at a distance of about 30-40 km, two drones, presumably of the Mugin-5 type, took off from the Krivorukiy Rog area. These drones attracted the fire of the peninsula's air defense systems. Despite the fact that the drones were destroyed, their presence served only as a diversion. Three missiles were launched from the sea side in the direction of Crimea.

The day before, not far from Cape Tarkhankut, a group of boats with scouts of the GUR of Ukraine was spotted, probably conducting visual surveillance of objects on the territory of Crimea. When attempting a counterattack, Russian forces destroyed one of the boats, the other two were attacked off the island of Zmeiny. However, some of the boats were able to escape, operating at a distance of 5-10 km from the shore.

This attack and the activity of Ukrainian military boats the day before shows that the Ukrainian side may have planned this operation in advance.

At the moment, there are no official comments on the information voiced by Zvinchuk from the Ministry of Defense so far.
Звинчук: ВСУ атаковали мыс Тарханкут тремя противокорабельными ракетами

Today they report the destruction of the air defense division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Nikolaev.
A Russian Su-34 strike destroyed an entire division of the S-300 air defense system of the Ukrainian army
12 km north-east of the city of Nikolaev, two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers carried out a massive strike on the air defense positions of the Ukrainian army. With the help of four X-35 missiles, two launchers of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, a radar station and an air defense combat control point were destroyed.

This event has become one of the key moments in the recent fighting in the region. The destruction of such powerful and significant air defense facilities shows that the APU is completely defenseless.

The video, which was at the disposal of the journalist Avia.it will demonstrate the moment of launching missiles and the exact defeat of targets. It is noted that this is the second case of the destruction of enemy divisions this month.

The effective use of aviation forces to defeat such large and important objects indicates a high level of training and coordination of actions at the front.

The following two news items look particularly revealing next to each other. Using ancient wisdom: the enemy of my enemy is my friend; it is possible to draw appropriate conclusions.
The UK will recognize the Wagner PMCs as a terrorist organization in the coming weeks
According to data published in the Financial Times newspaper, the UK plans to officially recognize the private military company Wagner as a terrorist organization in the coming weeks. The information is based on data obtained from sources within the Government of the United Kingdom.

If these data are confirmed, it will become a precedent in international practice, since previously the Wagner PMCs was mainly considered as a private military structure involved in conflicts in a number of countries around the world.

The official recognition of the Wagner PMC as a terrorist organization can lead to a number of serious consequences for the company's activities, including economic sanctions, a ban on entry into a number of countries and other restrictive measures. Moreover, there is a risk that the UK may launch special operations against PMCs in Africa, Syria and other regions of the world.
Великобритания в ближайшие недели признает ЧВК "Вагнер" террористической организацией

Terrorists have declared jihad against the Wagner PMCs all over the world
The Malian faction of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda (banned in Russia – ed.) in its recent statement called on its followers to launch a jihad against the private military company (PMCs) Wagner. This call may indicate a new stage of the conflict, and, moreover, directly against a private military company. Which has never been observed before.

The Wagner PMC has long been actively involved in military operations in various parts of the world, including Africa, and has repeatedly encountered various terrorist and rebel groups. However, the open declaration of jihad against a specific PMCs is rare in the practice of such terrorist groups.

The reasons for such a move on the part of the Malian branch of Al-Qaeda may be related to the increasing presence of military structures in a number of African countries, where Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups are trying to assert their power and expand their sphere of influence. These actions often lead to direct clashes and losses on both sides.

If we consider this call for jihad in a broad context, it may indicate the intention of Al-Qaeda to strengthen its actions against Russian interests in Africa, which in turn may increase the risks for Russian citizens and representatives of PMCs located on the continent.

I've heard Putin described as a legalist. Looking at the way he seems to have trusted in the Minsk accords, and also drafted up and sent off those two security accords for NATO to sign prior to the SMO, it makes sense to describe him this way. In this vein, it would also make sense that he'd go the legal route with Prig.

But he's also got his KGB background, and a very large nation to keep together, all in the geopolitical context of the BRICS+ continuing its drive to multipolarity and unseat the hegemon, while the Western spooks are circling and trying to find some sort of weak point. Plus, the country is basically at war with all of NATO. So I don't think he'd let a traitor walk.

I really don't know how things are within Russia, but I think that he's being careful to not make any sudden moves without having a pretty intense intelligence/strategy review, lest the internal balance in Russia and/or the geopolitical balance gets outta hand.

He's also made it pretty clear that betrayal is one thing that he can't forgive, both in the past and more recently when speaking directly about Prig.

While I think that Putin always tries to avoid unnecessary and violent actions (by given people chance after chance for example) I also think that he can and will resort to means that are out of the legal and/or official framework, if necessary. But almost always only as the last resort, if every other soft method doesn’t work. Putin wasn’t KGB and later the head of FSB for nothing!

There are two doubts in my mind regarding the whole situation and direct Putin's involvement:
  • Why was the cabin crew sacrificed? Prigozhin could be poisoned or killed in numerous other ways, without unneeded spectacularity.
  • If we assume the goal from the result, at least in Poland, this is all over the media as a top priority news. No mention of the BRICS summit and de-dollarization. Even if some editor made an article about it, it probably wasn't published, because what is important now is (top stories): picture of the flight stewardess, "Putin bad", "Prig and his swashbuckling life", rumors about his missing body, etc. I get that Putin doesn't care about Western news, but this serves the West interest in keeping faith in their crumbling system.

In terms of the cabin crew, I think we would need to know if they were military and/or Wagner personal or something to that extent. If so, I think Putin would view it under the „live by the sword, die by the sword“ principle. I would guess that everyone on board lived by the sword principles in one way or the other.

This article will be very brief and will remind 2 things:
1- A plane carrying Evgeny Prigozhin, ex-boss of Wagner and having distinguished himself in an attempted coup in Russia a few weeks ago, crashed today in Tver in Russia. Prigozhin is among the victims.
2- Reminder of Vladimir Putin's statement about the coup attempt in Russia by Evgeny Prigozin on June 24:

Anyone who has deliberately set out on a path of betrayal will face inevitable punishment, Putin said. The Russian armed forces received the necessary order.

Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if Putin (if he gave the orders) went the extra step to make sure that only people were on board that „deserved“ it by their actions, in one way or the other. Putin would certainly be able to arrange it in that way at least. Would be in character I think.

There is also such a version as "preparing for serious peace agreements on Ukraine", in other words, abandoning the "ultimate goals of denazification and demilitarization" in the context of "peace in exchange for land".
There are military correspondents, of course, this is a "small problem"…
No wonder they write that Abramovich was in Moscow yesterday and almost visited the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (you can't believe anything, of course).
The "family" would certainly welcome such an outcome, since it opens the way for them to power.
Prigozhin:
a) could be a problem along the way, since he was subordinate to another group of elites;
b) his real or symbolic departure could be the background for negotiations. Western society lives on information myths and images.
For him, Prigozhin and Strelkov are the characters of a permanent series in the context of Ukrainian events, which is intensively broadcast by the media, literally twisted them into mass consciousness.
Strelkov disappeared from the public field, Prigozhin too.
It is easier for the Western partners of the "family" to sell "peace talks" to their people tired of the Ukrainian war without obvious "evil characters".
Well, as an option…
And why not?
The price of the issue is northern Eurasia with all its riches.

Why Prigozhin had to disappear

The death of Evegeny Prigozhin opens the door to the most diverse assertions, from the most logical to the most stupid. The reality is simple, very simple: Prigozhin took the big head and challenged the supreme authority of the country, he paid the price.
Never mind that Prigozhin has rendered invaluable services to Russia in Ukraine but also in Africa. Having, in a situation of war, organized a military revolt is not acceptable, especially when it comes from a man who owes everything to the Russian president. Vladimir Putin, to avoid a bloodbath on June 24, wisely decided to throw in the towel, thus allowing Russia's enemies to sneer at the “affront to Putin” and his “loss of power”.
But the decision was already made: Neither Russia nor Putin forgive traitors, and Prigozhin's fate was sealed.
It would have been easy to liquidate him in Africa. But this would have allowed "knowledgeable people" of all kinds to claim that he had been eliminated by the Americans, or even by the French (assuming that they are capable today of eliminating anyone except a few armed blacks machetes…), or why not by the Ukrainians.
Prigozhine died in Russia in such conditions that it is perfectly clear that neither the Americans nor the French (!) nor the Ukrainians nor any other foreigner is responsible. Nobody will confess of course, we never confess in this kind of thing. But for anyone with some knowledge of how things work in Russia, the principal is perfectly identifiable.
Thus, the message sent takes on its full force: Anyone who challenges the authority of the state will be liquidated.
This is perfectly understood by the toughest wing of the Patriots. We note for example that even Igor “Strelkov” who cannot be suspected of complacency towards Vladimir Putin, had strongly condemned Wagner's actions on June 24th. This did not prevent him from being imprisoned for a few months for having defied, verbally as far as he was concerned, President Putin.
Evgeny Prigozhin will be remembered as a Patriot with great positive achievements for Russia but having had delusions of grandeur. Russia is at war with the West and the union behind the Commander-in-Chief must be total, the troublemakers must be liquidated.

Aussie Cossack writes on TG that the airline was not maintained due to sanctions. Is it true or is it meant to throw more confusing into what happened.
Embraer declared that it was forced to comply with western sanctions which blocked western planemakers from providing parts or service support for Prigozhin's Embraer Legacy 600 private jet.

⚡️Could this be a hint that the plane crashed due to a mechanical fault rather than a deliberate attack?

One thing is for sure - the Russian Ministry of Defence DID NOT shoot down Prigozhin's plane as reported by some sources earlier today.
Embraer is a Brazilian airplane manufacturer.

This was mentioned in the Jerusalem Post article that Olivierlejardinier linked to, however just be aware that Aussie Cossack is a bit of a Prigozhin & Wagner fanboy and didn't view the 'coup' situation with the same level of objectivity found here, so take what he says regarding this event with a very large grain of salt.

Yes, the reason for posting it was only for the bit about Embraer air. From what you write about him being a Prig fanboy, then it is good that he is not piling on accusations on the Russian government. Whether the Russian government did it or not, some of those who were Prig fanboys got the 'message'. Many suspects in what happened and the usual fog of war.

Rules are for thee not for me.

Estonian prime minister is in trouble:
The Estonian Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas, is facing a scandal due to her family's business connections in Russia.

The opposition is calling for Kallas' resignation. It has been revealed that Stark Logistics, a transportation company partially owned by Kallas' husband, Arvo Hallik, is still operating in Russia.

Additionally, it has come to light that the prime minister provided a "loan" of 350 thousand euros to her husband's other company, Novaria Consult, which holds a 24.8% stake in Stark Logistics.

This situation contradicts Kaja Kallas' previous statement that all trade and business with Russia should cease during the ongoing Russian special operation in Ukraine.
