Session 24 October 2009

Double Yin-Yang crop circle proportions, good for 2D mask and 3D reference. Shapes filled (paths), PSD format, (photoshop CS3 ~4 hours of work from yesterday)

Fantastic work here everyone! Now, let's get to work!

For some reason the two arc's not touching the yin-yang seem important to me, as in the crop circle.
Like so?

Much better, imho. Closer to nicklebleu' fantastic piece of art! One look and i recognized that nicklebleu and Laura's "graphics person" are real artists here!

Heh this one is still my favorite:

Oh and I totally want one of these:

Really enjoying watching you all take the concept and goto town with it. I have no graphic/art skills what so ever, so I really appreciate all your innovations. Keep it up!

I tried one out with the infinity symbol left out but "suggested" The elements would probably have to be moved in closer together though - I wasn't sure how to do that in gimp.

forge, that's interesting! Now to see if I can get those layers working properly in GIMP (doesn't look as it should right now)... (otherwise, a large, plain png of the lower half that you made would work)

I've experimented with various rotations of the logo, and with the present one - that I worked on before - 15 degree rotation (following reshaping of the logo to make it less drawn-out) from upright looks decent, I think:

Looks almost like some kind of letter...

I finally got around to having a go at nicklebleu's version which I quiet like as simplified form of the logo.

What I prefer in this image is, that it is really compact kind of one mass and not fragile.

IMO, the wave lines make it like an "S" for soul. Also the number two can be found really often in that symbol, like -2- be, or not -2- be. ;)

I'm really liking the artwork so far :)
fwiw I thought I'd chip in.

Even thought I work predominately in 3d

If so, then the Yin-Yan pieces may be 3d-balls rather than 2d-disks. You may like to play with this idea as well....

I don't have access to 3dsMax any more (otherwise I would have done it properly 3D).
My idea was to represent a 3D shape in 2D (with the shading suggesting the curves)....I think I've just about managed it.
My rough sketch is attached below (at the bottom of the post).

To get an idea of how it looks in 3D, this image may help (imagine looking at it from above facing towards the ground):

Rolyateel, how you've shaped those lines of yours is really groovy!

I've borrowed a bit from that:

A bit of plastic wrap, just for fun - the biggest Photoshop no-no EVER!

Such creativeness! Love it :)

I actually like the gold with the blue.
Not much to add right now, I'll see if I can play with it as well.
