The confusion is because rice doesn't contain wheat gluten but it does contain some prolamin proteins that some people have bad reactions to. What is confusing is some people who react to wheat gluten don't react to rice prolamin. Not only that, but rice has much less prolamin than wheat. So it may be worth testing yourself, tonosama, with the Ultra Simple Diet to see if you are sensitive to rice. Rice also has phytic acid, but there are ways to prepare it (soaking and souring) that can eliminate most of the phytic acid.
