What's the weather where you are?

We have lived in the Top End of Oz for 5 years and have never had such an extended 'Dry season'. Cool nights and sunny warm days.. minus the humidity we are renowned for.
A few of my clients are long term residents and have been saying they've never seen anything like it. All seems roses for us now but I wonder if we're in for one hell of a ride with cyclone season looming.

I wanted to note something here.

Now that we are getting some rain, with thunder and lightning, I noticed how thick the lightning bolts were. I'm talking in width. I was talking with a friend and she mentioned this as well. She was so surprised by how thick in width the lightning bolts were (she's lived here her whole life and I've only been here for 3-1/2 years) she was trying to get pictures of it so I am assuming this is not normal for this area.

Wild weather in Sydney, Australia past 2 days. Heard it described on the news as being cyclonic strength winds. Nice to be indoors and snug in bed right now :)

little question : how was the sound/noise of the thunder ? Same old same or not ?

Yes, the thunder seems to be about the same from what I remember.

Friday here, in Spain, was terrible, terrible hot. The worst day of this year! Around 40 in my region but some cities had 45 celcius. They say this hot weather is coming from Africa. It was so hot that I had difficulty in breathing when outside. The country is dry, we did not receive rain since many weeks. People think this is due to the "global warming", if they knew... But it is not avail to try to talk to them about this subject. So instead I look to the horizon and wait and accept was is coming.

FWIW, a friend in the Southeast of France reported a strange storm today where thunder is described to be sounding like "dragging an enormous chariot with broken wheels". Another person from the same region published a picture of a lightening that looks like the pillars seen recently in Japan. People are reporting strange electric phenomena everywhere.

yes it looks really wired

Just a word about the North East of France, they say @Météo that we have something like 13°C during the night but where I stay ? I could see my breathing at 2 in the morning and at one spot of my place where the wind passes a lot : well ... a spider web was frozen.

This is crazy ... :scared:

Here weather has changed drastically. Specially concerning wind. We had winds that are almost huracanian. This is not normal during summer. And the temperatures have descend very much. So bad. But Fall is there and I adore to walk in the middle of the forest with my dogs. The light is beautiful during Fall. But we are not in Fall, yet! So how come the weather is like Fall? Ice age is coming.... brrrrrrr

Some guy at FB noticed that the skies are really void of airplanes and he is right: I noticed here the sky is void, since some days, of contrails. The sky is blue, blue, blue like the sea in a beautiful calm day. Is that normal? No airplanes at all? Nothing in the sky, nothing? How are your skies?

The planes are still flying they just aren't leaving trails because the atmosphere is not conducive to it. That's what I keep telling people: when the planes leave trails, its because of the atmosphere, when they don't, same thing. If you spend time regularly checking weather radars and satellites AND watching the skies, you will get to where you can predict the kind of atmospheric changes will be conducive to trails and then you will know, of a certainty, that it is because of the weather, NOT that they cause the weather!

Last few days have been rather cool here. We had a little over a week of high temps - it got up to 38/39 on one or two days - and then, finally, the weather broke, it rained most of one night, and then wind from the North/northeast, and now we have cooler days and very cool nights. It's getting down to 8 and 9 in the pre-dawn hours.

So, overall, we had maybe 2.5 to 3 weeks of really hot weather the whole summer. The rest of the time was so cool and damp that my flowers did not produce as normal this year. The roses liked it, but the sun/heat lovers just crouched in the beds and pouted. The few veggies we grow did very poorly also: not enough sun and warmth early enough. So yeah, even though we had some days of very HOT, it wasn't much overall. Very bizarre.

My neighbor also grows his own vegetables, and he told me the same, specially the tomatoes are very bad.

About the same for us, in the SE of France, not for the same reasons but because of the drought : three months with hardly any rain but a few drops of muddy water from dust in the atmosphere (Sahara ?). The mountain pastures are dry and brown, small springs are off. It is very good that it has been raining lately ! Enjoy your day :)
