Crazy Storm Weather and Lightning - Global

A record has been set. Probably not the last one.
On July 26, the strongest downpour since 1894 took place in Moscow

MOSCOW, July 26 — RIA Novosti. The heaviest downpour since the end of the XIX century took place in Moscow, the Moscow municipal economy complex reported in the Telegram channel.
"Up to 46 millimeters of precipitation fell in a few hours. The largest volume was recorded in the Mozhaisk district of the western district," the statement says.

The previous record on this day, July 26, was reached in 1894. Then 42.5 millimeters of precipitation fell.
The bulk of the water went into the stormwater network, and if necessary, operational access was provided by the crews of the State Unitary Enterprise "Mosvodostok", the department clarified.
According to forecasters, heavy rains will not stop in the near future, city services will continue to work in high alert mode.

Last night we had this storm form just east of Winnipeg. It's actually two completely separate systems that combined to form one massive storm that was more than 150km in length.

Storm Front.jpg

The storm's damage was all east and north of the of the city (no tornadoes, but huge hail). What I was lucky enough to watch was the two systems combined practically over my house. I watched it for more than an hour. The giant "battleship" cloud at the bottom of the image (taken south of the city by a chaser) was moving west to east south of the city very quickly. At first I thought the "pancake/mother ship" formation north of the city was moving at the same pace in the same direction (the wind was blowing from the west).

All of the sudden the pancake mother ship completely stopped dead, while the battleship started moving faster, but now to the north. After an hour - they combined completely and then started moving very fast to the northeast. I've never seen anything like it. It looked like CGI the way they moved.

Hail from Fisher River and Satellite image below (the two storms are on lower right hand side)

From a Weather Network Tweet:

The convection on this cell East of Winnipeg is absolutely stunningly terrifying. Words don't even express the enormity of these systems in Southern Manitoba #mbwx #mbstorm
