Have you read Operation Trojan Hoarse by John Keel? It may help explain some of the sightings....
Yes, also
The 8th Tower which had a profound impact on me - it should have been the first book I'd ever read. Operation Trojan Horse was great, too even if a little slow to start - but towards the end it had some explosive information.
After reading the books, the sightings began to
increase in frequency. Their nature changed as well, points of light began to change colour and size, they also got a lot closer.
I'm not really worried about it and certainly do not wish or ask to be a witness of high strangeness. Having read Keel, I understand the dangers and can better see the paranormal aspect of these events (not to mention Laura's work). Of course, there are some assumptions (e.g., the sightings ARE paranormal and not a space rock or a plane, delusion, mental illness, etc.)
Keel talks a lot about the phenomenon targeting neurotics and ill-informed people. I can certainly see aspects of both in my own make-up and this is where more work is required - EE is definitely a great aid in that direction. Also, he mentions that people with well developed psychic abilities are more likely to experience these things. Well, I'm not sure about being "psychic" but I do think that EE plays a part in the development of said abilities. Perhaps, there is a correlation there and hence my mention of the events in this thread.
He also talks about witnessing of the paranormal events by proxy, i.e., by being in close proximity to a person being able to see them. This is certainly consistent with my experiences - three friends have now had sightings around me. I do alone as well.

The other thought is that perhaps these are not UFO's.....but rocks skimming the atmosphere? I'm not sure which option is more worrying!
Indeed. This may sound strange but, as I said in the previous post, I wish that to be the case. I wish there was an independent and reliable confirmation to the contrary to put my mind at ease. But I'm afraid this might never happen. So it's a continuous cycle of uncertainty, taking things as they come, trying to be sensible and smart about what may be happening - and not assuming or taking things at face value. Quite an interesting exercise in its own right.
I am sure, however, that a major reason behind seeing weird things in the sky is because I LOOK at the sky - all the time. Don't like surprises and perhaps the phenomenon is increasing on a global scale so I just get to notice the pattern by paying attention.
And then, of course, there is very high strangeness. The whole shtick started to really take off two days before 2009 began. Prior to that I only had a handful of weird sightings in total, well, at least they were rare.
That night we were camping at the Bundjalung National Park, at the spot called Black Rocks - right next to the ocean. It is a very isolated area and I was with a friend.
Here are some pics from that trip (the folder should be marked 31 Dec 2008, actually).

That night, there was a huge storm and we spent about four hours holding up the tent from the inside. When it was all over, we realised that everything in the tent was soaked and there was no other option but to sleep in the car.
We had a cig first. I looked up and noticed a white dot travelling on a triangular path - from left to right then down and across to the left again with very sharp angles. And it kept doing it over and over again for a pretty long time (enough time for several ciggies by then!). This is in the middle of nowhere, with nothing around - except an old navy base. Come to think of it now, it could have just been a helicopter flying around to investigate the damage after the storm.
But then, these other non-strobing points of light started to appear out of nowhere - three of them, in a linear formation, extending from the direction of the horizon towards us. That was weird and they just hovered there. There was still a fair amount of low cloud in the night sky but you could see them through the haze.
I looked down to tell my friend and as I looked up they started to disappear, one by one. Weird enough.
And then one of these points of light, appeared in the distance to our right and started to fly towards us, over the car and towards the ocean. You could tell it was actually two points of light very close together, kinda like a tube with smooth ends but it could have just been an illusion. It could also have been something else completely...
I'd had enough - by then I was freaked out, in the car, winding the window up so quick my hand hurt. This was the only time ever that I felt fear during the encounter - abduction was the last thing we wanted to happen. Went to sleep to block it all off... but did more happen that night? Who knows.
Well, this is long-winded already. Thanks for listening, I guess there was lots to vent about.
