Éiriú-Eolas - Breathing Program

Even during the fastest part of Beatha, just breathe gently in and out without a pause. You don't have to take full breaths. Just gently breathe in as for as long as you have until you breathe out again. (I hope I'm making sense.) The objective is to do continual breathing, not continual breathing of full breathes. This should also help a bit with the tingling that you are experiencing.

Hope that helps. :-)
:scared: Wow you totally helped me on this. This is why it wasn't comfortable at all, now I understand. I used to force the breathing to take full breaths, so when it becomes faster it's not an easy thing to do
Thank you very much for that advice Nienna !

Adding to the above: The goal of the program is that you feel relaxed and comfortable. When you feel the tingling for example keep on breathing normally and best with your belly and see how that feels. It takes some time till you get used to all the different sensations (learning how to do them etc.) and even in my case some learning was involved how to be able to relax ;-).

It's still hard for me to be completely relaxed during the pipe breahting because I still have to focus on the technic for now. So, sometimes, I have to think about releasing the tensions in my body when I do it.
I also thank you very much for your advice.

I have one question about the meditation part. While doing it, do you focus on the prayer or do you think about anything else as a specific question, general/specific thoughts, etc. ?

You are most welcome, Elohir!

I have one question about the meditation part. While doing it, do you focus on the prayer or do you think about anything else as a specific question, general/specific thoughts, etc. ?
For me, and I emphasis the "me" part, I focus on the prayer, trying to not let the mind wander. If I find my mind wandering, I steer it right back to what is being spoken by Laura.

Having said that, maybe if there is something that is particularly bothering you, meditating on it while listening to the PofS will be beneficial to you, I don't know. There are many others who, most likely, do know though and I hope they speak up.

So far, I also focus on the prayer as advised. Besides, the Cs said in the 2009/09/13 session that they speak through her voice sending some specific energy.

Moreover, if I well remember, we know that while meditating, it's not advised to anticipate about results or to make void in your mind (some entities could try to replace the void by any stuff of their own).
Focusing about a specific question/thought, praying or listening to a prayer seem to be good options.

Thanks.

One of the goals of the prayer is that you concentrate mainly on the text, that is the reason why it is a called a meditation of a seed and instead of emptying your mind and so on, like many other meditations do. I think with time and practice you can try different approaches but I think concentrating mainly on the prayer is the best way to do it because then you don't anticipate any outcome.

This is a great exposition on the Prayer of the Soul, from 29 August 2015
(L) That's kind of more like guided thinking. Lemme see the easiest way to explain it... Probably the tightest way to start to do it would be to stop using the audio track. Instead, repeat the prayer in your mind in time with your breathing 20 times, one after the other.

Breathe in, first line. Breathe out. Breathe in, second line, breathe out. If you can do it 1 time, that's something. The goal is to be able to do it 20 times. Shoot for that.

Here is the key: At a certain point, you will stop doing what you're doing in your mind, and thoughts will come in. You will realize that all of a sudden, you've drifted and started thinking about other things. What you do at that point is you stop that other thinking, and you immediately start again. You'll notice these interruptions happening a lot. Your mind wants to...

(Parallel) To go on holiday.

(L) Your mind wants to go on holiday. You just keep pulling it back. You don't do that in a hard way or a rough way or get angry about it. You just realize you've drifted, and then pull it back and start again.

If you could manage to just do that for 5 minutes, that's a lot. If you can do it for 5 minutes, then increase to 10 minutes.

(Parallel) So no visualization.

(L) No visualization. Just words. Visualizations come later. Visualizations can induce interesting effects, but you have to get to the point where you can discipline your mind enough to repeat a selected series of words or a phrase continuously without being deviated by the mind wandering.

It's like lifting weights. Your brain will get tired. But the more you do it, the longer you can do it, and the less tired your brain gets. Eventually, you can get this single pointed focus on exactly what you're doing and hold your attention and focus on it for an indefinite period of time.

When you can do that, let me know.

(Perceval) What words did you suggest he use?

(L) You can use the Prayer of the Soul, or you can recite a poem. It almost doesn't matter since you're just exercising your focusing power. I always used the Lord's Prayer.

Hi Stella, I think that it would be helpful if you could always add a translation. Maybe you meant to do it since you posted your message twice and copied the original text two times, instead of the translation.

Here is a translation with DeepL Translator :

The last time I did EE I didn't "fall asleep" I call it that because it's like a blackout, like a blackout, only one is aware of it when he wakes up. I accepted this fact without resistance. I felt good when I woke up. In the world when you wait for him it is like a current of electricity running through my body. It is like a gentle "electrocution". It's cute it doesn't bother me but I'm unaware of its meaning. I'm still practicing the program and I hope they integrate into my family but they still don't cheer up. Greetings to all

Thanks for your update.

I just ended my EE session and want to report and ask about something that happened. If this has been discussed in prior threads, would someone mind linking me to the proper page if possible?

During Beatha my body reached a state of relaxation where I had only a faint awareness of it, where my focus and attention were primarily on my breathing and the word Beatha.

Suddenly in the darkness in front of my eyes an image started to form of two people walking toward me (what appeared to be) an old western style storefront - all made of wood - with the pillars in front of the shops and awning above. To the right of my field of view was a curtain(?) blowing in the wind.

I also noticed that it seemed to be some type of desert setting as there was no concrete the store was built on but what appeared to be dirt or sand. Once I realized the image was forming, I tried to physically see it with my eyes, but then it disappeared. I also want to clarify the image was not entirely visible but more like, there was a layer of black over it with the opacity turned down just a bit for the image to be visible enough to discern these details.

Now, I’ve had these dream sequences(?) before and sometimes they come in full color in the minds eye, other times they’re blacked out so to speak and very faint like this one.

It reminds me back when I was 18(?) and experimenting with Astral Projection. I don’t do that anymore but I would start to experience all of these strange sounds and loud noises, electrical body sensations, visions, voices in the darkness, light in front of the eyes etc. and ever since those experiences, anytime this kind of thing starts to manifest in deep meditation, I either get scared and push it away or try to physically 'see' whats forming and I lose the image instead of just letting it continue to form.

What I would like to know is, what am I tapping into here?

Is it a dream forming?

Tapping into subconscious images?

A past life?

Remote viewing?

What should I make of these types of ‘mind eye visions’?

I would really like to let go of my fear of them so that I can clearly see what my mind is trying to tell me/show me(?) But is this even important? So thought I would mention my experience in case anyone has insight into this phenomena.

Thanks!

What I would like to know is, what am I tapping into here?

Hard to be sure. I would just take these experiences as they come and try not to intellectualize the experience too much or try and force it to happen or yield any results of some kind. Perhaps you'll learn something either emotionally or symbolically, or perhaps not. Maybe a relaxed but impartial curiosity would be the right approach to have.

Hi Andrew!

But is this even important?

Did you had a particular emotion, or emotions during or after that experience with Beatha?

The objective of that part of the program is deep emotional release and it can take many forms; body sensations, you can see images that carry certain emotion -or emotions-, you may feel like crying, hitting a pillow. The release can also take place in dreams and in a meditation like state, but again, the main objective is the release. It may not be very useful to think too much about the images and dreams IMO, better to focus on the practical side.

And it's good that you are not experimenting anymore with "Astral Projection", as you may know now, it could be a lot trouble!:

Nowadays most people interested in the spirituality of the East desire the “experience,” though they may call what they are after “intimate communion with God.” Those familiar with the standards and norms of spiritual experience set down by disciplined paths are usually appalled at the way Westerners seize upon any apparition from the domain outside of normal consciousness as a manifestation of the “spiritual”. In fact there are innumerable realms in the unseen world, some of them far more dangerous than the worst jungles of the visible world. No person familiar with the teachings of Sufism would dare lay himself open to such forces… William C. Chittick, The Sufi Path of Knowledge

In case you haven't watch them, this series of videos shed a light upon that kind of matters too.

Just my thoughts here.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and keep going with the program! The results are awesome.

Ya, I agree. I'm also wondering if maybe I start to get a little 'too' excited when these kinds of things happen, then I anticipate and....gone. To me, it's just amazing to be able to actually see images, 'visions' in the minds eye that can be as clear as day!

Always makes me wonder the real potential of human beings were we not so restricted and DNA blocked as heavily as it is.

I'm going to take your suggestion and keep it in mind for tomorrows meditations.

Thanks Whitecoast!

Did you had a particular emotion, or emotions during or after that experience with Beatha?

Ya know, now that I think about it I don't think there were any emotions but I was trying to remain as impartial as I could. However, like I mentioned to whitecoast....there's a degree of excitement to it that nudges my curiosity to it. I mean, seeing images with the eyes closed? Maybe that's normal for some people, but definitely not for me and only ever comes in deep meditation.

It may not be very useful to think too much about the images and dreams IMO, better to focus on the practical side.

Oh ya, 100% agree with you here.

Astral Projection experiments only led to really bad things for me. Demonic voices, voices out in the darkness, loud banging noises on my door, entities getting into bed with me, etc. I won't go more into it than that but ya, I've learned my lesson there!

Interesting study about grounding and vagus nerve:

Grounding – Helping Premature Babies

Intensive care doctors have discovered that grounding may boost the resilience of premature infants and lower the risk of complications.

The doctors reported that grounding produced immediate and significant improvements in measurements of autonomic nervous system (ANS) functioning critically important in the regulation of inflammatory and stress responses.

The findings, by researchers at the Pennsylvania State University Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Hershey, were published in the journal Neonatology in August 2017.

Specifically, grounding the babies, clinically stable and from five to sixty days of age, strongly increased measures of heart rate variability (HRV) that indicated improved vagus nerve transmission. The vagus nerve, extending from the brainstem into the abdomen, is the main nerve of the parasympathetic division of the ANS. Its offshoots supply and regulate key organs, including the lungs, heart, and intestines. HRV refers to beat-to-beat alterations in heart rate, and is influenced by the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the ANS.

This is the first Earthing study conducted with babies. You can read the study abstract here.

Earlier, a 2011 study demonstrated that grounding rapidly improves HRV among adults, and generates a shift from an overactive sympathetic mode, associated with acceleration and stress, into a parasympathetic, or normalizing and calming mode.

If you improve your HRV you can reduce the likelihood of stress-related disorders.

Twenty of the 26 babies involved in the new study were tested for HRV while grounded during testing periods over 20 to 40 minutes. Improved HRV was consistently documented for all of them. The improvement disappeared quickly when they were alternately disconnected from the Earth. Grounding was achieved by adhering a grounding patch on the skin of the babies, while in their incubators or cribs, and connecting the patch wire to the hospital’s grounding system.

Among the babies tested, “grounding raised parasympathetic tone within minutes,” says Charles Palmer, MB.ChB., a specialist in neonatology, and co-investigator in the study. “We obviously need more research to further prove that grounding may enhance vagus nerve transmission and thereby improve stress and inflammatory regulatory mechanisms in preterm infants.”

Previously, Dr. Palmer and his research colleagues reported that decreased vagus nerve function is a “valuable marker of vulnerability to stress” in premature infants, including an indicator of risk for necrotizing enterocolitis, a serious intestinal disorder that affects about 5-10 percent of preemies. The condition has an inflammatory component that could adversely affect critical cells protecting nerve tissue and thus possibly undermine development of the nervous system.

During the last fifteen years research has revealed that the vagus nerve plays a major role in the so-called “anti-inflammatory reflex,” a mechanism that controls basic immune responses and inflammation during pathogen invasion and tissue injury. Among other things, the nerve’s actions help to inhibit excessive production of pro-inflammatory chemicals.

Previous grounding studies have led to a hypotheses that grounding reduces inflammation as a result of electrons from the Earth entering the body and neutralizing free radicals involved in chronic inflammation. The fact that grounding improves vagus tone in adults, and apparently also in infants, offers another mechanism as to how grounding reduces inflammation in the body.

The Penn State researchers also reported that grounding immediately and substantially reduced skin voltage induced on the babies from ambient electric fields radiating from surrounding medical and incubator equipment. Such voltage may have a stress effect on premature babies. In a 2005 published study and again in 2016, Earthing has been shown to significantly reduce induced voltage on the body.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly a half-million American babies are born preterm annually, or 1 of every 8 infants. Preterm means a baby is born prior to 37 weeks of pregnancy. Preterm-related causes of death account for about 35 percent of all infant deaths, and more than any other single cause, and is also a leading contributor to long-term neurological disabilities in children.

Electrical grounding technique may improve health outcomes of NICU babies

A technique called “electrical grounding” may moderate preterm infants’ electromagnetic exposure in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and improve their health outcomes, according to Penn State College of Medicine researchers.

Equipment in the NICU produces low-frequency electromagnetic fields that can have subtle yet measurable effects on the autonomic nervous system, the system that regulates involuntary body functions. Preterm infants may be especially vulnerable to these effects.

Previous research in adults has shown that exposure to electromagnetic fields can affect the vagus nerve, a key component of the autonomic nervous system which regulates the body’s internal organs during rest. Previous research also has shown that electrical grounding, which reduces the electrical charge to the body, can improve the functioning of the autonomic nervous system and the vagus nerve, producing improved vagal tone.

Vagal tone, which is measured by analyzing heart rate variability between inhalation and exhalation, is a valuable indicator of health. An earlier study performed with colleagues at Penn State found that low vagal tone in preterm infants is a marker of vulnerability to stress and a risk factor for developing necrotizing enterocolitis, an intestinal disorder that can have severe consequences. Strengthening vagal tone may reduce inflammation, guard against the development of necrotizing enterocolitis and offer protection from a variety of other conditions that can affect preterm infants.

Additionally, a separate study involving preterm infants in the NICU revealed that when the incubator’s power was switched off, thereby eliminating the electromagnetic source, the vagal tone of the infants improved. But until this Penn State study, published in a recent issue of Neonatology, no other research had directly evaluated the effect of electrical grounding on vagal tone in preterm infants in the NICU.

To evaluate the connection between electrical grounding and vagal tone in preterm infants, the researchers conducted a prospective observational study that included a total of 26 preterm infants who were between six and 60 days old and in the NICU at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center between October 2012 and January 2014.

“Preterm babies in the NICU have a lot of health challenges due to the immaturity of their lungs, of their bowel and of all their organs, so we decided to look at how electrical grounding could help improve vagal tone and mitigate some of those challenges,” said Dr. Charles Palmer, professor of pediatrics and chief of newborn medicine at Penn State Children’s Hospital. “Anything we might do to improve the babies’ resilience would be good.”

After measuring the environmental electromagnetic levels in and around the incubators, the researchers electrically grounded the babies by connecting an electrode wire from the infants’ incubators or open cribs to the ground. Twenty of the 26 infants were measured for both skin voltage — the voltage measured between the patient’s skin and electrical ground — and heart rate variability — to assess vagal tone — before, during and after grounding. Six of the infants were measured only for skin voltage.

“When we looked at the signal on the skin, it was an oscillating signal going out at 60 hertz, which is exactly the frequency of our electrical power. When we connected the baby to the ground, the skin voltage dropped by about 95 percent and vagal tone increased by 67 percent,” Palmer said. After grounding, vagal tone returned to the pre-grounding level.

“What we can conclude is that a baby’s autonomic nervous system is able to sense the electrical environment and it seems as though a baby is more relaxed when grounded,” Palmer said. “When tied to our previous work, which found that vagal tone was an important risk factor for necrotizing enterocolitis, this new finding may offer an opportunity to protect babies even further.”

A limitation of this study is the sample size, and further research is needed, said Palmer.

“If more research confirms our results, it could mean, for example, redesigning incubators to ground babies and cancel out the electrical field,” he said.

Palmer also said that more study is needed to evaluate the long-term effects on preterm infants of exposure to low-frequency electromagnetic fields in the NICU.

Several weeks ago I re-watched the online Éiriú Eolas breathing program and began performing the breathing exercises with greater effort and correcting some mistakes I had been making with it in the past. Over the past year or so I have been struggling mentally with personal and emf related health issues. My ability to focus has particularly suffered which in turn had made recovery progress difficult and slow.

Since seriously engaging with the breathing exercises I have felt greater capacity to focus and have begun to regularly read and listen to music again. I feel able to push myself once more and am steadily working on returning to healthy and regular eating. Over the past couple of days I managed to clear up my room and desk to allow myself a private work-space and which has led to a further drastic improvement in focus. Thanks to which I feel more motivated and positive than before and feel I am finally making some use out of my free time; which before I just felt as if I was wasting.

My main regret is how long it took for me to get myself to re-watch the breathing program after viewing it several years ago. I this a bit funny as when my health started to deteriorate I personally believed that going over it again would help me, but in my state I was never able to focus myself on the task of doing it. Until a few weeks ago when in the evening I suddenly felt compelled to watch it and immediately did so, which I do not regret.

I want to say I am really grateful towards Laura and co for providing this material and making it so accessible. I feel like I am finally starting to engage again with my own life which of course should be a significant part of being alive. So thanks a lot and keep up the good work. :-)

For the EMF issue, maybe you could try something like this? - Some members have tried it and it helps.
This thread may be useful too: EMF Exposure. And supplementation can help too.

Heavy metals and iron levels are something to keep in mind too as they can serve as an "antenna" for surrounding EMF.

Diet and a clean environment always help!

Don't regret it, the good thing is that you decided to continue with the practice of the program and make some changes to get you on track.

If you have any doubt about the program, do not hesitate to share it here.

That's good progress Seato, thanks for sharing your experience.

Remember not to overdo with the Beatha portion of the program; if at some point you feel it is too much, reduce or pause the practice for some time.

Hi everyone,
I started watching the video of the EE programme a couple of days ago (and ofc immersing myself in this knowledgeable world). I realised that I have practised these types of breathing before in yoga classes, but I didn't know the science behind it and how important it can be.
Now, a quick thought after my day at work today. Very stressful day, felt like a punch straight into my personal goals of becoming a better person. And now that I'm in bed thinking about it, I say to myself "why didn't you practice breathing?".
How can it be so easy to forget?
But, here I am not willing to give up.

Have a nice week everyone.

Ps: Laura, you're great.
