Facebook Demands Identification

This IS nonsense!

I do not use nor have I open a FB account with using my "real name", I have not added much in the way of contact info., even my location of residence is not up to date accurate, and I have never added a real photo of myself out on FB.

All this, and have never been locked out of the account, or required to prove that I am a "real" person.
I have had issues with liking my own posts and those on my friends list but that's about it. I personally would never give FB any real sensitive personal information.

I think that starting a "Laura Knight-Jadyzck is a Real Person" Facebook page is a great idea!

The work everyone is doing must be putting REALLY BIG kinks into their plans.

Ive sent a complaint and will do so each day, as well as post more than usual articles, links and videos out to see if it helps.

What ever happened to basic verification thru an email address? Who the heck do these people think they are? The internet police?

They might be at that! :)

I remember articles and stories from several years ago relating government agencies, facial recognition software creation and calibration, and how facebook was their source for face photos. Not hard to imagine now why fb would have no interest in any numbers off an ID when their demand for proof gets a face, name, address and other biological info. Just speculating here.

I also sent this reply to fb manager:

I'm contacting you regarding your privacy policy, which I think is invasive. A friend of mine who I know is a real person, Laura Knight-Jadczyk, is being blocked because her 'account looks fake or using fake information'. I can attest that this is not a fake account and she is not a fake person. I request that you restore her account. Asking for people's driver's licence or government ID to restore their account is invasive and a social community that seeks this kind of data from it's users is intrusive and I think lacking respect when it comes to privacy. I'm not inclined to continue using facebook if this is the road you're taking.

I posted and reposted Laura's articles, liked friends posts of Laura's articles and basically filled the news feed letting fb know Laura IS a real person! What a load of hogwash fb is for taking such tactics!

I have a hunch that the blocking could have something to do with the algorithms used to monitor for fake account/spammers. Laura has been firing out sott articles rapidly when she shares and that might have triggered something automatically.

I also sent them a similar email and have been sharing and liking others posts on the topic. I did mention in my email that this seemed to be more about censorship.

I did find it weird that I have Laura as a Favorite member and her post stopped being notified, the most they've asked me is for phone number on gmail but nothing like that, Is there a way to complain?

Maybe in the form of a SOTT article or complain or signatures?

I posted some of Laura's articles and videos on FB last night as well.

Maybe that's it, the government agencies can't figure out how Laura seems to be looking younger by the day and it's sending their facial recognition software into meltdown.

There was an alternative to Facebook that came up a few years back discussed on the forum - the owner/developer even posted here and discussed it, yet I don't think it had legs, and even though I looked into it at the time, can't seem to find the account or the name as it was never used.

Alternatively, Facebook's BoD is as follows:

Board of Directors

Mark Zuckerberg
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Sheryl Sandberg
Chief Operating Officer

Marc Andreessen

Erskine B. Bowles

Susan Desmond-Hellmann

Reed Hastings

Jan Koum

Peter A. Thiel

The BoD can be contacted, apparently: http://investor.fb.com/contactBoard.cfm

Contact the Board

You can contact Facebook's Board of Directors to provide comments, to report concerns, or to ask a question, at the following address.

Corporate Secretary
Facebook
1601 Willow Road
Menlo Park, CA 94025

You may submit your concern anonymously or confidentially by postal mail. You may also indicate whether you are a shareholder, customer, supplier, or other interested party.

Communications are distributed to the Board, or to any individual directors as appropriate, depending on the facts and circumstances outlined in the communication. In that regard, the Facebook board of directors has requested that certain items which are unrelated to the duties and responsibilities of the board should be excluded, such as:

Product complaints
Product inquiries
New product suggestions
Resumes and other forms of job inquiries
Surveys
Business solicitations or advertisements

In addition, material that is unduly hostile, threatening, illegal or similarly unsuitable will be excluded, with the provision that any communication that is filtered out must be made available to any non-management director upon request.

This may or may not be worthwhile, as the word "filtered out" is used in the last paragraph?

Just send another request to reactivate Laura's account (I chose Report a Problem in the top right menu)
and after submitting it I got few options what to do, one of them being "My friend's account is blocked - what can I do?"

Click on it and this came up:
https://www.facebook.com/help/147434898662568?ref=flytrap
If your friend's account is disabled, they'll need to submit an appeal using the email address that was connected to their Facebook account.
Please keep in mind that we can't release information about an account to anyone but the account holder, and we won't take action on any appeals sent in on behalf of friends.

So should we write a support letter that Laura would submit to FB along with her appeal?

Yup. Looks like efforts had an effect. Yes, I sent an ID, but I do think that them getting lots of messages jacked up the restoration.

Interesting insight into what is going on here on the BBM.

Great!

Though I thought we could make it happen without you sending your ID, simply because of people power, but at least you are back.
