Hagar is VERY sick

Does anyone happen to know a good way to get SERIOUS goat smell out of leather seats? I wasn't thinking and left the car shut up tight yesterday, in 90 deg heat. It's pretty rank.

Hang in there Guardian............... i have seen a number animals being hit by out of town people in the area, that have kept going not even concerned about hitting them.

Oh that makes me sooooo MAD and SICK at the same time. I COMPLETELY understand that sometimes you don't have time to avoid them, but at least stop and make sure they're actually dead...and get the body out of the road so another critter won't get hit trying to eat it.

I can't even count how many dead animals I've drug off the road, and you know whoever hit them knew it!

Baking soda solution and some sun with the windows open.

I have a goat skin bag that smelled very strongly and the baking soda and sun fixed it up.

Should I just put an open box of baking soda in the car ( like the fridge) or sprinkle it on the seats? What do you mean by "solution?'

THANX!!

I'd sprinkle it everywhere there is any smell (and sprinkle liberally!), give it a day, and vacuum it up. I've done it before for carpets and for my car and it took care of any bad smells permanently.

There's baking soda, and if you can find it a product called "odorzout" that is a red clay based odor absorbent. We used it on Dancer a time or two when she got skunked. (The poor doggie) I've also got a liquid for smells but I don't think you'd want to use it on leather goods.

The smell might actually be a comfort to the goats, I'm not sure if that works the same for them like it would for a dog or cat. It makes it familiar territory. You may need to use several small boxes through out the car, but I wouldn't put them in til the kids are home.

And its great to hear Hagar is doing well!! He looks a bit tired but good. :flowers: :flowers:

I had an interesting talk with one of the techs and the upshot was that we may have the first transgendered goat in North Carolina Laugh

You'll have to let us know if he takes in interest in listening to Ru Paul. :rotfl:

It's a relief to hear that Hagar is doing so well. I'm still keeping you all in my thoughts, though.

I didn't even think of that. Oh well, I guess no one's going to be asking me for a ride anywhere this weekend :P

THANX! This Vet Hospital is GREAT!! They called me at 8:30 to give me his morning update, which was EXCELLENT, and she said they'll call again this afternoon.

He's PLAYING this morning... hopping around and head butting

Everyone decided that leaving Hilda with him was the best thing to do, even if she's being a bit of a brat 'cause he's getting so much attention. Whenever he's getting a checkup, blood work, etc. one of the students has to brush Hilda or she gets jealous.

Wonderful to hear Guardian!!!

So wonderful to hear that Hagar is doing well. It seems things were lined up for him to get the best care. And think of how other goats may benefit from his procedures.

Crazy about this bunny stuff, some people at the fest I was at rescued some baby bunnies from certain death and we all got to play with them for a day or two before the bunnies told us it was time to set them free by jumping out of the box they were in and running off into the woods. Then yesterday I was at a public ranch/tourist place and a jack rabbit ran out of the road in front of us. I silently prayed for it to run back into the brush and we missed hitting it. Not that my prayers did or didn't have an influence, though the rabbit did not run across the road and into the car.
Haven't seen a wild rabbit in a very long time. Things that make you go hmmmn.

To a full recovery for Hagar and may you find the cause of his demise so it does not reoccur.
