Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): General information and discussion of Home Units

This thread kinda died and I was wondering how are long term or hard core users doing?

After about 130 sessions I had to stop for the entire summer due to high temperatures making the stay in chamber very uncomfortable.
Can’t say I noticed anything different.

Did any of long term users notice any negative impact on their eyes?
At one point it seemed like I have increase in floaters and once or twice I had trouble focusing which was probably due to ciliary spasm since I still refuse reading glasses.
However i recently had very detailed eye exam and my vision hasn’t deteriorated at all while retina and lenses seem to be in very good shape.

In any case i am looking forward to restarting my dives 5 times a week.

FWIW I stopped last December when I got some sort of cold/virus and my sinuses where a little too clogged to dive. I tried restarting a few times but it always felt off. Based on how my health is now it seems I needed to focus on other things - like fixing my metabolism through exercise + the right supplements + detox etc
Overall though, my health has a much better baseline than it did before starting HBOT - even if it took a while after HBOT to reach that.

Am going to start it again, and will be keeping an eye on what the body might need.
I suspect that the need for certain nutrients, vitamins and minerals goes up when using the HBOT - relative to the healing/detoxing going on.

I did notice a bit of this. I'm going to try adding astaxanthin to the vitamin C (can't tolerate vitamin E or I'd try that) to see if it helps, after I get back into the sessions.

So since I'm usually pedal to the metal guy, maybe I was doing things too much too soon thus initiating some serious cleanup in my body!?! So I've decided to stop doing HBOT for the rest of the week and after my medical checkup on Sunday, proceed with a shorter 60 min. sessions?
Will keep you posted!
Potassium citrate might be helpful, as well as the following:

Astaxanthin gives me runny and orange stools but that may be just me. For the eyes omega 3 of good quality seems to be important. And maybe ramp up the carrots if you can source organic ones. They also say spirulina is important for the eyes allegedly it stimulates stem cells that repair retina.

Before every dive I always take Mercola’s H2O2 tablet dissolved in a glass of water. Supposedly it scavenges all the byproducts of oxidation.

Oxygen dries out the eyes and is an irritant. My wife made a sleep mask with pockets stuffed with cotton to cover the eyes and protect it from any contact with the oxygen. It helps a lot but the eyes still are sensitive. I am planning to soak a cotton cloth with eyebright tea and lay that over the eyes after HBOT and see if that helps relieve the oxygen irritation.

Are you using the oxygen mask? If so it should not be an issue since it normally doesn’t cover the eyes.

No. I have 2 oxygen concentrators that pump in 20-30 L/min of oxygen so once the chamber is inflated I turn off the air pump and let the concentrators pressurize the chamber to 1.5.

However, in the past I had used the mask but there was always a little blowing around the nose area and blowing into the eyes. Probably because I have a big nose.

I've read the first 30 pages of that thread and took notes, but it's going to take a few more days before I reach page 113... So meanwhile, I have a couple of questions:

1- Is there anyone near or around Montreal, Qc region that has purchased one and would be willing to share/lend/rent their unit? I'd be willing to make the drive in a 3h max radius (North shore, South shore, Quebec or Ottawa).

2- For people who purchased in Canada, which model did you order? And how much did it end up costing?

3- After a year of trial, would any of you still recommend this purchase?

in my case, I don't have any diagnosed health issues.
I mostly have digestive issues and food intolerances that started gradually 10 years ago, general overall body inflammation such as waking up with swollen fingers (can't bend them without acute pain), tiredness (have to take a nap almost every day even if I slept 7-8h), lack of energy to achieve my day, slow healing of injuries (been struggling with left shoulder tendinitis pain after I went kayaking for 2h / 3 weeks ago).
All I want is to feel well again, wake up energized, be able to perform through my day cause things are piling up fast, and be able to train without hurting myself anymore.

Thanks

Update :
I've been looking on Marketplace and I found one for 3500$ Canadian, which is more than a great price. But... it's only 1.3 ATA and it's an unknown brand that I can't find who's the supplier after searching for it.
It's named Hyper-Oxy (I attached a pic for you to see).

Any comments on that?
From reading the thread, I can't decide if I should definitely aim for 1.5 ATA, or if 1.3 would still do the job.
I do like the fact that at 1.5 ATA and higher, it becomes antiseptic (sorry if it's not the right term).

Here's a picture of the Oxygen Concentrator. It says max flow rate is 5 LPM, sounds low to me.

Hello Z and all,
I'm in a similar position. I started to make sessions end of November 2022, and the last i did was early August, total of +/- 115 sessions. I do not have any particular problem (im 50) and plan to re-start doing it in the coming weeks. As i rarely go to see a doc or specialist doc i can't say much about the benefits, but i'm confident that it's useful, it became an inner certitude, and if i'll restart to do sessions it's be only for preventive purposes. I do the same with a PEMF device (carpet in practice) each time i watch a movie or a series, i start it for 1 to 2h and happily lay down in the sofa :)

BTW, you said the thread is dying, i would better say that we made the round of all the knowledge about and now the thread has reached its cruising speed.

Also, one information for all here : I should come back here in this thread during the coming weeks or maybe months as I finally did what i planned since mid 2010 : re-route some benefits of my company (now that i can afford it) to start to resell specific devices mainly linked to the health domain and HBOT was listed among various technologies i gathered and summarized at this period. And when the subject came here in April 2022 this motivated me to come back on this idea i procrastinated since now 7+ years.
So i'll soon, helped by a few colleagues (i could also name friends), to officially resell such units here in EU (some macy pan models). The website is almost ready and we are also in the paperwork steps with the lawyers in regard to all the legal topics. My idea is, regarding the forum and specifically in this thread, to come back once we have a testimony page ready, which will be one of the first update to make on the website shortly after we officially release it. I'll come here and invite anyone to post a testimony. I would like also to open a small forum (small compared to the C's forum here), only focussed on the topic, but this could represent a lot of work if many people come on it, mainly to moderate it ... but it's another subject, let's first put the site online, i'll be happy to come here to show it, we are on this topic since 1+ year now, it takes longer than i thought at begin, but it's like that :)

We bought the pro version and I am glad that we did but it is very very heavy. It was quite a challende to bring that monster downstair since UPS didn't want to do it.
Among the units we bought so far to Macy Pan (9 ST702 so far), I ordered one "all-in-one unit", we installed it in my mother's house and it was a real pain to transport it, even on a few distance. We had to move it up a floor and we said, after that : "never again". We discussed about with my colleagues who are on the topic to conclude that we'll probably continue to buy/order the separated devices and avoid the all-in-one ones, but i'm sure that some customers, the professional ones mainly, will opt for the all-in-one. What i wanted to say here is that as it's an heavy device, and i suppose it's +/- the same with the oxyrevo one, do not opt for the all-in-one if you plan to regularly move the unit, or if you live in an appartment in an upper flow without a lift, or hire a couple of strong movers.

At least, one small benefit of the separated devices is that you can more easily replace one or dismantle one to repair it (compressor or cooler are basic elelctric devices) than starting to try to repair the all-in-one one. For the oxygenerator, i do not know, i supose it's also basic device for the electricla part, just the sub-unit which generate the O2 is, i suppose at least, not much possible to repair/replace easily if broken. And for the units themselves, we already repaired some small air leaks around the entries of the unit and this was not hard to do, until there's not a hole in another part of the unit (in the main membrane or around the viewports/windows) it's fine. What we wonder is their general durability.

It seems nobody saw my previous post, so here I'm going to quote the people who might be able to help.

I just checked and there's nothing available in Ontario except one for 19,000. Macy Pan contacted me and they do ship to Canada.
Hello, have you found something already? If yes, could you please tell me which supplier and how much?

Have you tried OxyRevo
I got quotes from them and pretty reasonable as well as being great to deal with. Bought a different one because it was already in the country.
Are you also in Canada? Which unit did you end up buying? How much was OxyRevo's quote at the time?

Three of us Western Canadians have pitched in and have bought a chamber, it should be coming in next week and we'll report our progress as we go.
Hello, which unit did you end up buying? How much was it?

If anyone is interested my contact Winni at zoya tech got in touch. They have a sale on until the 16th. 200usd of the soft chamber and 500usd off if you buy two chambers. Worth looking into and getting a quote, might get an even better deal if a few are going in on buying a chamber or two. Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know.
@Seamus and my self combined ordered one 1.5 ATA Zoy-tech portable unit for the folks here. This unit have outside pressure guage too. Cost is US $4350( including express air shipping) with addition of import tax of around 200 later. We may receive it in 2 to 3 weeks.
I contacted them yesterday. I got quoted 3850$US for the 1.5 ATA with a separate Oxygen concentrator from the air compressor. Not even a 200$ discount, even though I mentioned many people had ordered from them and that I was a "referral".
She said Winni does not work there anymore and the most she can give is 100$ off = 3750$US (that's still 400$ more)
Also said that she's not sure she can ship to Canada due to harsh restrictions :(
I gave her the info I picked up from another post regarding Macy Pan's "custom clearance suggestions".

Thank you for all the home work you guys did and it helped us to narrow down the choices easily.

My above post is more than a year old. Few things had changed. you may want to be clear of what you are getting. Is it this unit they are selling you? If so, the unit is good based on my experience.

you want to gather more information about all the possible additional costs. Get clear information related to Original unit cost, shipping cost ( shipping cost is very high to North America. It is almost 1200 US$ for us), sales taxes, customs etc. you may also want to ask about warranty. Generally they give 1 year warranty. This is assuming that they are willing to ship it to Canada.
