Hi Joe,

For the past two and a half weeks, I've been itching all over like I've never experienced before. I initially chalked it up to air dryness, but am now convinced it's something more. Very hard not to scratch -- even though I know this makes it worse.

But thankfully no lesions though.

FWIW.

If you have any MCT oil or coconut oil rubbing some into the itchy areas might help, it sure helps my itchiness. I use MCT.

Thank you.

Yes, I've been using it and it has helped a great deal. Coconut oil has been my go to remedy and diet supplement for many years now. I love this stuff.

It may also help to add 1 x drop of lavender oil, i've found it best for damaged skin that needs to heal - apparently it was originally used to treat burns on the skin. Mixed with coconut oil should be gentle enough. Also you may like to try different oils like Almond or Hemp to use topically.

Dr Mercola:

Treat various skin disorders like acne, psoriasis, eczema, and wrinkles. It also helps form scar tissues, which may be essential in healing wounds,19 cuts, and burns. Lavender can also help soothe insect bites and itchy skin.20 According to Texas-based dermatologist Dr. Naila Malik, it's a natural anti-inflammatory, so it helps reduce itching, swelling, and redness.

Hi itellsya,

I will definitely look into this. Thank you for the kind suggestion.

Hi folks. I've been using Lugols Iodine 5% (5 drops daily) sporadically for over a year now, not for any particular condition, but just 'hoping' it would have some effect on my dry flaky skin on my scalp, temples and hairline. There is a mild itch periodically but it really doesn't bother me. In fact, over the past few months the condition may have worsened slightly. The above info on lavender oil sounds interesting so I shall try that.

My wife is currently suffering from almost constant diarrhea ever since she has gone through a HM detox. She was doing the Lugols Iodine (4 drops of 5%), salt water, B2, B3, 5-HTP, and some vitamin C and we think she has eliminated many HM over the past 2 months, however, the almost constant diarrhea has developed as well as mid-day anxiety. She is currently disheartened and very discouraged by this, so 2 days ago she decided to forgo ALL supplements, so we shall see if this diarrhea or anxiety alleviates, so far she still has the diarrhea and midday anxiety. The anxiety starts mildly about 7am and builds to a peak around noon, then continues to about 3pm and finally about 5pm she is feeing good for the evening meal. Most nights she has very good sleep.
I'm wondering whether anyone here has any experience with diarrhea being a side effect of iodine intake?

My DMSA just arrived. I've been taking 8 drops 5% Lugols while I waited for the DMSA, but I came down with a cold again yesterday. So I increased the Lugols to 14 drops yesterday. Today I will do 16 drops and tomorrow 18 drops. Then I will stop the Iodine for a few days while I do a round of DMSA. After that I will re-mineralize. Any reason that is not a good plan?

It definitely got my bowels moving the first week or so of taking it but nothing that couldn't be managed. But because it happened almost immediately on taking it, i'd say there may be some effect from the iodine. After i think my body got used to it, i noticed it mainly happened after taking a lot of magnesium at night, due to the water being drawn to the bowels. So from my experience, it's possible, but if it's that severe, it may be that you need to go for one drop at the most and maybe pulse doses (days on, days off) - but other more knowledgable people should have a more definite answer since it seems you've encountered some other issues too :)

How much salted water is she taking? Just keep in mind that salted water is a remedy for constipation. If she is taking too much, a side effect might be diarrhea.

If it is not due to excess minerals, magnesium or vitamin C, I would take a probiotic before going to bed. One with saccharomyces boulardii will be probably useful.

If the cold worsens with a higher dose of lugol, then you'll know that backing off and using titrating doses of vitamin C is probably the best solution. I would also take NAC if available.

Amazingly, I'm rebounding from the cold already. The higher dose of Lugols seems to do the trick. This is the second time I've had that happen. So the focus will be on HM detox.

Speaking of sore throat, I had that from this Sunday. I was taking Vitamin C, salt water and multivitamins but it wouldn't go away. So yesterday I decided to take 20 drops of wild garlic to see if it will help. I don't know if there is a direct correlation, but today my throat feels almost completely normal. So I will try this from now on - 5 days of iodine, followed with 2 days of wild garlic and other things to detox or kill the awakened critters.
With regards to sore throat, last week in the evening I also had a sore throat developing. Before going to bed I gargled with 2 drops of Lugol in a bit of water for about 1/2 a minute to a minute (but without swallowing) and the sore throat was completely gone in the morning. Now, I gargle every morning when I take the lugol mixture as a way to take care of the throat area before the lugol is swallowed and gets to work on the rest of the body. Sometimes I gargle in the evening, but it is also to kill microbes lurking around the teeths :scared:

Hi DougEE i experienced loose stools first when i started to take iodine, then after a few weeks, sometimes when i took too much salted water immediately after waking up i experienced loose stools again, so in my case i think it wast taking too much salt, which i will be more careful next time, about the anxiety i didn't experienced it. Hope that your wife will get better.

Yes, I have noticed the same time pattern. I have a strong reaction to iodine and i noticed the similar pattern. Only that that anxiety in my case is manifested with strong heart beating , body tremor and hand shaking. The time frame is the same as you described. First 2 days when all this started i have also a diarrhea and fever.

For almost 2 months i have a constant cold symptoms also. Like sore throat, congested sinuses . Its probably related to some detox reaction of the body.

As each day is passing heavy heart beating is little easier or i have used to it. Shaking and tremor is reduced over time. Nothing helps to really stop this symptoms. Sometimes salted water and later Vit C helps to easy this symptoms.

As other symptoms start to be less and less intense, new symptom ocured.
Pancreatitis. It hurts very much and nothing helps to relive the pain. Yesterday the pain was on wider area ,and today its more sharp pain. I still take salted water and vit c in thee evening ,but its not helping with this pain.
I wonder if its caused by bromine that was mobilized by iodine or by very high ldl cholesterol. Few days ago the doctor mentioned that its a possibility with such an elevated LDL.
I don't know how can I relive this pain and is it a dangerous condition., or what causing it. I'm still on keto diet .

Does the pain radiate towards your back? Are you having nausea and vomiting that gets worse after eating? These are signs of pancreatitis. If it is or isn't pancreatitis, if you're having sharp pains in the abdominal area that are lasting this long you should probably get it checked out.

Ditto.

Maybe some calculi were mobilized from the gallbladder. Don't force yourself to eat. I would do a semi-fasting with water and broths (non fatty). If you tolerate that, you can eat easily digestible carbs and simple meats without too much fat. Continuing to eat a keto diet when there is a suspicion that your pancreas and gall bladder are struggling, is not a good idea.

I would continue to take enough vitamin C and salted water while doing a fasting. If it doesn't subside, do get a check-up.

I have been taking a much slower approach to iodine supplementation and detox than many.
My experience with iodine supplementation:

-read the thread from the beginning as it was produced from Oct. 15, and it all sounded reasonable to me.

-began cautiously taking 1 drop of potassium iodine at breakfast—no noticeable effects

-repeated the next day and by evening had no feeling of distress (pain/inflammation) but began having sudden and strong diarrhea which lasted a day or so

-skipped the iodine for 2 or 3 days and then tried same dose pattern again and had same results

-stopped iodine while traveling in Dec. and began again Jan 8th. Felt fine—no diarrhea.

-continued taking 1 drop a day for a week, felt energetic and had positive attitude

-following week went to 2 drops—felt the same except for unaccountable neck pain for 3 or 4 days

-next continued with 2 drops pot. I and added 1 drop Lugols. No neg. symptoms and feel noticeably more sustained energy and good mood during the day. Have noticed increased urination.

-now taking 2 pot I and 2 Lugols every morning

-continuing with the same pattern adding a drop of each a week to see what happens.

I take the salted water first in morning as directed, then eat breakfast and take drops in water, then take my usual supplements of B vitamins, D3, zinc, and have added selenium in the morning. In the afternoon salted water and some vit Cs, and at night I take magnesium, potassium, boron, and melatonin.

While I cannot tell if I am taking enough to detox much yet, I am opting for a slower approach as I am older, have heart and lung issues, and must continue working full time without interruption. Hopefully continuing with iodine supplementation will be a benefit for maintaining some level of detoxification in this polluted world.

My diet is high-fat and relatively low-carb (80g) avoiding gluten, sugar (most of the time) and dairy.

I do feel and notice an increase in my energy level and more mental clarity. These changes are subtle and sustained. I don’t feel a manic burst of energy—just a good feeling of being able to continue throughout the day and get things done and enjoy life despite the daily horrors facing us all.
