For some reason, it seems that the scare is being somewhat "withdrawn." Notice that in China, where it presumably began, there were only 8 in one year and 10 in another year, actual human cases reported...

Avian Flu Wanes in Asian Nations It First Hit Hard
By DONALD G. McNEIL Jr.

Even as it crops up in the far corners of Europe and Africa, the virulent bird flu that raised fears of a human pandemic has been largely snuffed out in the parts of Southeast Asia where it claimed its first and most numerous victims.

Health officials are pleased and excited. "In Thailand and Vietnam, we've had the most fabulous success stories," said Dr. David Nabarro, chief pandemic flu coordinator for the United Nations.

Vietnam, which has had almost half of the human cases of A(H5N1) flu in the world, has not seen a single case in humans or a single outbreak in poultry this year. Thailand, the second-hardest-hit nation until Indonesia recently passed it, has not had a human case in nearly a year or one in poultry in six months.

Encouraging signs have also come from China, though they are harder to interpret.

These are the second positive signals that officials have seen recently in their struggle to prevent avian flu from igniting a human pandemic. Confounding expectations, birds making the spring migration north from Africa have not carried the virus into Europe.

Dr. Nabarro and other officials warn that it would be highly premature to declare any sort of victory. The virus has moved rapidly across continents and is still rampaging in Myanmar, Indonesia and other countries nearby. It could still hitchhike back in the illegal trade in chicks, fighting cocks or tropical pets, or in migrating birds.

But this sudden success in the former epicenter of the epidemic is proof that aggressive measures like killing infected chickens, inoculating healthy ones, protecting domestic flocks and educating farmers can work, even in very poor countries.

Dr. Nabarro said he was "cautious in interpreting these shifts in patterns" because too little is known about how the disease spreads.

Other officials agreed.

"To say the disease is 'wiped out' there is probably too strong, too positive," said Dr. Wantanee Kalpravidh, chief of flu surveillance in Southeast Asia for the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, which fights animal diseases. The governments of Thailand and Vietnam "believe they got rid of it," she said, "but they also believe that it might be coming back at any time."

Very different tactics led to success in the two countries.

While Vietnam began vaccinating all its 220 million chickens last summer, Thailand did not because it has a large poultry export industry, and other nations would have banned its birds indefinitely. (Vaccines can mask the virus instead of killing it.)

Instead, Thailand culled wide areas around infected flocks, compensated farmers generously and deputized a volunteer in every village to report sick chickens.

It vaccinates fighting cocks, which can be worth thousands of dollars, and even issues them passports with their vaccination records so they can travel, Dr. Nabarro said.

Government inspectors sample birds everywhere; in February, Thailand reported that samples from 57,000 birds had come back negative.

According to Dr. Klaus Stohr, a flu specialist at the World Health Organization, Thailand and Vietnam also delivered the antiviral drug Tamiflu to even the smallest regional hospitals and told doctors to treat all flu patients even before laboratory diagnoses could be made.

Dr. Nabarro particularly praised the leaders of the two countries for ordering high-level officials - deputy prime ministers - to fight the disease, and for making sure that enough cash to entice farmers to hand over their birds for culling flowed down official channels without being siphoned off.

Hints suggest that the disease is also being beaten back in China, the country where it is assumed to have begun. International officials tend to greet official public health reports from China skeptically, in part because it concealed the outbreak of the SARS virus there for months. It did not officially report any bird cases for years, even though many scientists contend the virus incubated there between its first appearance in humans in Hong Kong in 1997 and the current human outbreak, which began in Vietnam in 2003.

Some top Chinese officials have blamed the reluctance of local officials to report bad news to Beijing. Dr. Nabarro said he recently met a vice premier "who made it clear that they are absolutely determined to get the fullest possible cooperation from provincial authorities."

China's reported human cases have remained low: 8 last year and 10 this year.

Perhaps more important, its poultry cases - which lead to human cases and increase the risk of a mutant pandemic strain - seem to be dropping.

According to the World Health Organization, China said it had outbreaks in 16 provinces in 2004. In 2005, it reported outbreaks in only 12 provinces, but one in November was so large that 2.5 million birds were culled to contain it.

After that, the Agriculture Ministry announced that it would vaccinate every domestic bird in China, which raises and consumes 14 billion chickens, ducks and geese each year. The official news agency reported about the same time that a fake flu vaccine, possibly with live virus in it, might have spread the disease.

Dr. Stohr, who is in charge of W.H.O. flu vaccine efforts, said he was told by Chinese agriculture officials that the country was now producing 46 billion doses of poultry vaccine a year, and was supplying vaccines to Vietnam.

China's most recent monthly reports describe much smaller outbreaks than were previously common: findings of a few dead wild birds and culls of 126,000 birds in one spot and 16,000 in another, for example.

"We are hopeful that China has turned the corner," Dr. Nabarro said.

In Cambodia and Laos, which separate Thailand and Vietnam, the situation is vague.

Laos has reported no human cases and last reported poultry outbreaks two years ago. Cambodia's reported human cases dropped to two this year, from four last year. No poultry outbreaks were reported, but surveillance is so spotty that some must have occurred and gone unnoticed, Dr. Kalpravidh said, because the country's six human victims were infected by poultry.

Cambodia was slow to compensate farmers for their birds because of problems with corruption in a previous cash-for-guns program.

Health specialists generally agree that there is little clear chance of infected birds landing in the United States.

Where the Southeast Asian governments have taken action, however, the risk of the virus returning is ever present, Dr. Nabarro said.

For example, he said, it probably exists in Vietnam in Muscovy ducks, which can harbor the virus but do not get sick, and it has turned up in isolated birds in open-air markets near the Chinese border. (Single birds do not constitute an outbreak.) Since Chinese farmers can get three times as much for a chicken in Vietnam as they can at home, the temptation to smuggle persists.

"Tomorrow, the whole thing could change again," Dr. Nabarro said. "We need to be on the alert at all times."

5 Cases Confirmed in Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia, May 13 (Reuters) - Local tests have confirmed that three Indonesians who died in the past week had avian flu, a Health Ministry official said Saturday.

Authorities have sent blood and swab samples of the three people - all from one family - to a World Health Organization-affiliated laboratory in Hong Kong. Local tests are not considered definitive.

A toddler and a 25-year-old man from the same North Sumatra family also tested positive for bird flu, but they are still alive, said Nyoman Kandun, a director general at the Health Ministry.

He did not say whether they had had any contact with sick fowl, the usual mode of transmission of the virus to humans.

I consider four possible reasons for this "withdrawal".

1) The scare was just another "test" to gauge population response. The "test" is reaching completion, and results are being recorded to inspire future "strategic maneuvers".

2) An artificially generated pandemic was deemed unfeasable (at least at this time). Most likely it is too risky for those who don't plan to be part of it.

3) The target of the scare is really the United States, so it is now downplayed in the rest of the world (calm before the storm hypothesis).

4) The scare was inserted along with other frightening scenarios promoted by the media to gauge, which one is most effective for future application.

I'm not yet picking up a "wighdrawal" here in the States, although it may be coming.

That may be, along with Great Britain, perhaps, which are both now openly (well, 'hide in plain sight') police states.

Perhaps it has something to do with the media propogation of plans for control that not openly being tied to politics...or the neocons?

It seems more people are becoming aware of a possible bird flu pandemic. Mostly, from personal observation, it is young people, from their teens to mid-twenties. People who are still in the 'I'm immortal' stage, and who don't usually worry or pay attention to these things. So something is going on.

Americans have an amazing capacity for ignoring things deemed unpleasant. But the vast majority of Americans, apparently even OP's, are finally turning against the president, and the war. The reason people aren't in open revolt, or even protesting for the most part, is, to a great degree, because they are 'sensing' the police state 'climate' that has taken over here...whether they are consciously aware of it or not...and are experiencing a sense of futility, resulting in apathy. But, when things get bad enough, such as the borders being closed or places quarantined, they may be shocked out of their apathy, and need to be controlled by some means 'ready and in place' to do so...and they will need to be pre-acclimated to accept the control. A bird flu pandemic, and the safety measures being announced, serves double-duty in this way, and will work well on Americans. It has the advantage of not appearing overtly political in nature, and most Americans still harbor the sacred cow that the gov't will look after them in a crisis. Especially certain groups, such as OP's...and perhaps young people; due to the abismal state of education, as well as what I perceive to be a deliberate 'plan', young people in the U.S. have been taught not to respect or trust their parents, and, when frightened enough, may end up looking to the gov't in a 'parental' way, submitting to draconian measures they've been preacclimated to accept.

This police state climate is being reinforced by regular news releases that announce control measures in place to combat the pandemic and, even though most Americans are still not making the connection, I'd say this is also a deliberate way of reinforcing our police state 'climate'...reinforcing a 'sense' of futility, keeping Americans apathetic and asleep, while keeping it out of the 'political arena'. "Like a circle in a spiral...."

This makes the 'bird flu scare' very useful here, whether a pandemic is ever unleashed or not.

Osit.

I've noticed this as well - to a very large degree. I have also noticed that there is another segment of the population that completely believes that the elections in November will fix things and that Bush will be impeached once the Democrats take power of the House, and everything will move back in the direction it should go (and there is a fairly even balance of conservatives and liberals in this mix of people). However, even this mix of people demonstrate the 'apathy' signal, as if the system will fix it all, so there is really nothing they can do to help, other than cast their single vote - it is as if they feel that it is so far beyond anyone's reach to change things that the idea that they could 'do' something to change things doesn't even cross their minds. I can't help but think that this is a combined result of the ponerological process and mind befuddling via artificial means - these people are literally hypnotized and show no signs of awakening anytime in the near future.

The bird-flu alarms here have not ceased, despite the relatively positive news abroad - yet, and this is my own personal experience, it seems that the people I have observed react to the threat with some sort of bizarre fatalistic theme of "if it happens, it happens, nothing I can do" - just like their reactions to their own government. This populace really generally seems disempowered, hypnotized and powerless at this point - but this could be restricted to the people I've observed - and perhaps there is another segment of the population that is more motivated and pro-active, and I have simply not interacted with them - I really have no way of knowing at this point.

There was a noticeable push for flu vaccinations this year at the company where I work. Posters, emails, freebies... you name it. All you had to do was "get your shots". Needless to say, I declined the offer. The next day, two people I know mentioned that they felt pretty lousy and semi-sick from them. Not an unusual response to vaccination, I know, but it still sent shudders up my spine, especially the way they clearly took it for granted as the "sensible option". When I mentioned all the toxins (mercury, formaldehyde, thimerosol etc) present in vaccines, they rolled their eyes at me and laughed.

Cognitive dissonance is a powerful force indeed.

Greeting Sisters, Brothers and Other-Siblings Forumites, Cherished Friends All,

How badly these eyes did miss partaking of the words you give to stimulate the mind so very well and turn it ever toward the Search for Truth. How good it is that they see well enough again to feast at and from your banquet once more. Merci beaucoup. 'Tis a fine day for this alone if naught else.

Please, oh please, dear Forum Friends and ReaderPersons, bear now with this post being a bit long, even though several hours have been spent on "boiling it down" to the bare bones.

It is not just where you are, Anart. Where I am it is exactly the same. While all of your assessments of the demonstrated functional and cognitive deficits ring true to my own observations as well, I especially think that the "mind beffudling via artificial means" and being hypnotized, literally, may be key elements, along with some of the very deepest, very broadest conditioning that is endemic to white Americans. In that "mind beffudling" category is the FACT that the vast majority of them, across the board, are no longer functionally literate, and could not have been so for quite a few years already. That may be a big part of the Big Picture here.

The U.S. Department of Education's latest testing of adult literacy levels among U.S. college graduates and post graduates was conducted in 2003. The results were not released until late December of 2005, and appear to have been published only once, on Christmas Day, 2005, in the Washington Post, newspaper edition only, page A-24, and never mentioned in the MSM at all. The tests revealed a full 10% drop in U.S. adult literacy levels, across the board, in the past 10 years alone. Fully 69% of all college graduates and 59% of all post graduates tested were NOT functionally literate. Of course, the numbers were stated in opposite terms, "only 31% of college graduates and 41% of post graduates successfully completed the tests." The obvious lesser impact of stating it thusly was another means of sneaking it under the psychological "radar" of those few Americans who do still have sufficient literacy to grasp what they read in a newspaper.

The top of America's educational crop failed, in an all volunteer test group of more than 19,000 participants ranging from 16 years on up to old age, to be able to pass four basic tests of functional, adult literacy: to accurately read and follow the directions on a prescription label; to understand and accurately answer the questions on a job application or medical history form; to be able to read a set of instructions to perform a simple task correctly; and/or to understand what was being asked in a simple mathematical word problem, just basic math, no algebra, well enough to then solve the problem.

If 69% of college graduates and 59% of post graduates, including doctoral graduates, were NOT fully, functionally literate, just what does that tell us of the probable literacy, and thus reasoning and all other cognitive capacities, of the majority of the American people? For in depth info on this and some very pertinent, closely related topics, read the article "Word Control, Thought Control, World Control, Part 2" from the 6th March, 2006 SotT Editorials. It is a very long read, but, if you skip everything after the info on the definitions of "cult" down to the end of the definitons comparisons, you can shorten it a goodly bit. But pay close attention to the rest; the Reality emerges starkly and chillingly. It suddenly makes much, much more sense why most Americans are not "getting it."

Most of them CANNOT get it any more, and never will be able to do so. Their minds have been too much damaged, deliberately. The "dumbing down" has succeeded masterfully and almost totally, in truly Orwellian fashion. To quote the author, "In the U.S., it is a done deal." I wept for the Knowing of what was written therein, and still do. Day after day, once it had opened my eyes, I have looked carefully and indeed Seen the proofs of its every assertion all about me.

Another factor is white, mainstream Americans' racial conditioning. It is literally killing them. Recent events here have given me the opportunity to attempt to "shake and awake", and thus to also observe closely, a group of Section 8, Title IX, HUD housing residents. They will all be thrown onto the streets as of April 29, 2007, and their building's management had issued a notice to them saying precisely that, as of March 9, 2006. The 2007 budget that Bush signed into law and is now enforcing, in a blatantly unlawful and unconstitutional act, was NOT passed by both houses of the Congress and is thus not legally valid at all. Not coincidentally, NO funds were provided in it for the HUD rural housing assistance programs specifically set aside for the elderly and disabled poor in small farm towns and villages across the country.

All of the people I contacted in HUD housing here are either disabled or above 65 years of age, and most of them are BOTH of those. Two of them are in their mid 80s, one in her early 90s. But only 2 residents in a building of 24 one bedroom apartment units, only 2 of the 26 tenants therein, came to attend a meeting designed to help them understand and discuss their dire circumstances and to examine their possible options.

These folks are among the poorest of all the poor people in the U.S. They have neither family nor friends who are able or willing to lend them assistance with such necessities as a room or apartment to live in, or else they would not be in HUD housing at all. Without their HUD subsidized housing, the streets, or for a very few the nursing homes, will be their only options, and such will become a very short, brutal and certain death sentence for them. Most of them in the building I am refering to would not, in fact, even be physically able to move to other housing without serious assistance.

When I checked back with these HUD tenants individually, "robotic" is a very fitting word, that and another that was used above, "bizarre," to describe their mumbled and distracted replies, as if they could not fully grasp what I was saying. They made very nonsensical excuses, those few who even bothered attempting to do so at all, for not attending the meeting. The only people to show up were myself, my erstwhile assistant and the only two non-caucasian tenants, one an African American and the other a half-breed Blackfoot Indian formerly from Montana. Which dovetails completely with another set of recent and ongoing events exposing the second, deep seated ponerological influence.

Observing the millions of pro Human Rights marchers who've recently taken to the streets of U.S. cities and towns, in brown, red, yellow and black multitudes, one cannot escape the idea that the Mind Control System isn't working quite so effectively against other races as it does against the white "majority." (I place the word in quotations because the Reality, globally, is that whites are a distinct minority of the total Human population.) Finding out what specific differences may exist between the brain structures of most "minority" race members and most whites could be a valuable study, IMHO. The evidence of something being decidedly different, in regard to the effects of the Mind Control System upon non-whites, has really been made clear lately, or so it appears to these eyes of mine.

Perhaps there is great hope to be found in the observable phenomenon indicating that a vast majority of those who are half, or more, of non-caucasian genetic stock, in the Americas at least, (and also apparently in France) really do "get it" and are taking actions. The sad Reality, however, is that racism is very deeply entrenched and dominant, at the reactive levels if not always consciously, in most white, culturally mainstream identified, U.S. Americans. They will never, unless another Ghandi or Martin Luther King, Jr. magically appears to literally enchant them into joining the struggle, believe that the struggles of poor non-white folks are also the necessary struggle and the essential opposition and "direction" for themselves as well.

Whites have been culturally, societally and religiously brainwashed, for many generations, especially for all of those white Anglo-Europeans who've been transplanted to the American continents, to believe that their ways, their rights, their needs and their very survival are always best achieved by pursuing goals or utilizing methods that are separate from and often diametrically opposite to those of the other races. The racial "divide and conquer" is profoundly ingrained in most white Americans, from the very bottom of the socio-economic scale on up. It is heartbreakingly doubtful, in fact almost certainly impossible, that they will now, or ever, overcome it sufficiently to act in concert with other races well enough and/or for long enough to save their very own lives.

The question is, at least in part, whether they CAN awaken to the Objective Reality of their own circumstances while holding on to their profound denials of the equal validity and rights of non-whites and all others different from themselves. Theirs is a seemingly fatal and myopic xenophobia. Their learning to "get it" in regard to the very deep ponerological conditioning in themselves, the elemental racism that tells them they are not like unto, and thus can hold themselves forever separate from and innately more valid than all the other races, is a necessary step. That racism will continue to constantly inform them that the streets as their own home, and all of those other bad things that they've casually watched happening to the "less worthy" non-whites in this country since forever, simply cannot and will not ever happen to themselves. After all, they're white. How can they wind up homeless and living under a freeway overpass in the dead of winter? That only happens to those "lazy" darker folks who're all criminal types anyway.

N'est ce pas?

I humbly give to each and every one of you here my profound thanks for being able to share with you all in this free exchange of Reason and Seeking. It is a rich food for this Mind, and so sorely needed.

Isn't it strange, that, as the bad news from overseas has started to calm down, at the same time the news here is steadily plodding on, and the populace here in the U.S. has finally started to notice bird flu? Perhaps that's why the bad news is beginning to be withdrawn overseas...because it has done what it was designed to do and is no longer needed. This would 'fit' with the hypothesis that the 'scare' is aimed at the U.S.

It's testament to the hypnotic state of people in the States that it took so long to 'get to them' with the bird flu scare...and it still isn't a big topic of discussion even now. It's rather ironic...the dumbing down of Americans by the PTB becoming a stumbling block for the PTB in carrying out their plans. Or is it a teeny little touch of poetic justice that they had to 'work harder'?

Like you, I also don't 'see' any real motivation to 'do anything' in the people around me...only more people verbalizing some awareness of the subject, FINALLY, while at the same time 'pushing down', for the most part, any fear it may cause them to experience, segueing into the fatalistic state you mention.

What has struck me is that the sudden new awareness seems, from what I'm observing around me, to be mostly in younger people. But perhaps that's simply because of the recent bird flu movie. It does occur to me that targeting that age group may be to encourage them, to get them ready, to take a vaccine they would otherwise not feel they need...or be concerned about.

And, as Ryan brings up...they are providing easy access, and peer motivation, for the apathetic masses:

Crazy, isn't it? The same is happening where I live. And, perhaps, we can expect a similar campaign in schools to be next? Even daycare centers?

In our ponerologically driven society all the 'little details' are deliberate, rather than coincidental, and fit together in ways the 'hypnotized' and 'uninformed' can and will not 'see'. It's difficult even for those who are informed, who do care, and are resisting the constant and comprehensive hypnotic phenomena we are being bombarded with.

Same here in NZ. A few months ago, I got a phamplet advising what to do in case of a bird flu outbreak and who to call for information and blah..blah.. blah. If you click the Tamiflu link on the left column, it states that the PTB has Tamiflu doses for only about 21% of the population. And then a bit further down it states that "We don't know for sure if it will cure people with the H51N virus"!!

My 11 year old daughter came back from school the other day and brought back an authorization form for immunization and I opted not to do so. Surprisingly the form had no such option!! You could either chose to be immunized at school, or get the family doctor to do so. And since I couldn't sent back the form without choosing an option, I selected the second option(use family doctor)in which case I had to provide the doctors' name, address, telephone, etc. I wonder what will happen after sometime when I don't get her immunized?

Yikes! The tightening up, and increase in pressure to comply, is one of the reasons I chose to take my daughter out of school...to homeschool. And the reality is...they can still find a way to enforce involuntary vaccinations. One of the perks to living in a police state.

I live in Qu补c, Canada and for the moment there in no withdrawal. This morning someone came to my office asking me what i will be able to do in case on a bird flu affecting the organisation. Where else i could work because our unit is not a priority.

Moreover, maybe it is a game this simily withdrawal beacause there are preparoing something else.

Notice that we have a new prime minister in Canada and he is a friend or a bilberger member as G. Bush and Tony Blair. Maybe what they are looking via the bird flu is to afraid the people and find a way to put a microchip in every one of us. As for the cattle, to mark us and after that, here is come the HAARP project.

(sorry for the quality oh the english)

My nephew's friend who joined the army a while back has now finished his training, is home on leave, and is getting ready to be shipped to Iraq. He had this to say just the othe day:

"I had to go in and get my shots and stuff that are required before shipping out. One of the shots I got was a regular flu shot, and then they gave me another shot that they said is a new and experimental drug, a vaccine for flu that they're testing...and they couldn't tell me what was in it."

There is a long history of the U.S. Army using soldiers as human guinea pigs. It seems they may be testing an experimental flu vaccine on soldiers right now, which isn't surprising. I found it interesting that this young man got both a regular flu shot and an "experimental" one...which brought to mind this particular part of the Signs Supplement: The Flu Threat:
Comment: Essentially then, in the "flu shot" you are getting a host of deadly chemicals along with supposedly a small dose of the actual dead or live flu virus. Leaving aside the mercury (extremely poisonous to humans) and formaldehyde (the main ingredient in rat poison), how are any of us to know just what virus the Pentagon has chosen to introduce into our bodies? Ask yourself, would you be happy to rely on the moral integrity of someone like Donald Rumsfeld to safeguard your own life and the lives of your children? You may be thinking, "they wouldn't do that!", if so, we recommend that you read on.

Few people alive today are old enough to remember the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918

"The effect of the influenza epidemic was so severe that the average life span in the US was depressed by 10 years. The influenza virus had a profound virulence, with a mortality rate at 2.5% compared to the previous influenza epidemics, which were less than 0.1%. The death rate for 15 to 34-year-olds of influenza and pneumonia were 20 times higher in 1918 than in previous years (Taubenberger). People were struck with illness on the street and died rapid deaths. One anectode shared of 1918 was of four women playing bridge together late into the night. Overnight, three of the women died from influenza (Hoagg). Others told stories of people on their way to work suddenly developing the flu and dying within hours (Henig). One physician writes that patients with seemingly ordinary influenza would rapidly "develop the most viscous type of pneumonia that has ever been seen" and later when cyanosis appeared in the patients, "it is simply a struggle for air until they suffocate," (Grist, 1979). Another physician recalls that the influenza patients "died struggling to clear their airways of a blood-tinged froth that sometimes gushed from their nose and mouth," (Starr, 1976). The physicians of the time were helpless against this powerful agent of influenza.

The influenza pandemic circled the globe. Most of humanity felt the effects of this strain of the influenza virus. It spread following the path of its human carriers, along trade routes and shipping lines. Outbreaks swept through North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Brazil and the South Pacific (Taubenberger). In India the mortality rate was extremely high at around 50 deaths from influenza per 1,000 people (Brown). The Great War, with its mass movements of men in armies and aboard ships, probably aided in its rapid diffusion and attack. The origins of the deadly flu disease were unknown but widely speculated upon. Some of the allies thought of the epidemic as a biological warfare tool of the Germans. Many thought it was a result of the trench warfare, the use of mustard gases and the generated "smoke and fumes" of the war. A national campaign began using the ready rhetoric of war to fight the new enemy of microscopic proportions. A study attempted to reason why the disease had been so devastating in certain localized regions, looking at the climate, the weather and the racial composition of cities. They found humidity to be linked with more severe epidemics as it "fosters the dissemination of the bacteria," (Committee on Atmosphere and Man, 1923). Meanwhile the new sciences of the infectious agents and immunology were racing to come up with a vaccine or therapy to stop the epidemics.

The origins of this influenza variant is not precisely known. It is thought to have originated in China in a rare genetic shift of the influenza virus. The recombination of its surface proteins created a virus novel to almost everyone and a loss of herd immunity. Recently the virus has been reconstructed from the tissue of a dead soldier and is now being genetically characterized. The name of Spanish Flu came from the early affliction and large mortalities in Spain where it allegedly killed 8 million in May. However, a first wave of influenza appeared early in the spring of 1918 in Kansas and in military camps throughout the US.

Few noticed the epidemic in the midst of the war.

Wilson had just given his 14 point address. There was virtually no response or acknowledgment to the epidemics in March and April in the military camps. It was unfortunate that no steps were taken to prepare for the usual recrudescence of the virulent influenza strain in the winter. The lack of action was later criticized when the epidemic could not be ignored in the winter of 1918 (BMJ, 1918). These first epidemics at training camps were a sign of what was coming in greater magnitude in the fall and winter of 1918 to the entire world."

The "Spanish" Flu of 1918 was a pandemic of massive proportions, and one that we certainly would not want to see ever happen again. Well, perhaps we are speaking only for ourselves when we say this. It would appear that people in high places are very interested in the specific strain that appeared with such devastating results in 1918.

US Army scientists create "Spanish Flu" virus in laboratory
"- medical benefit questionable [...]"

Biosafety Irregularity in Spanish Flu Experiments
"Genetic experiments to recreate one of the most devastating viruses of the past century were not reviewed or approved by a biosafety committee." [...] "The Spanish flu reconstruction began at a University of Georgia biosafety level three (BSL-3) facility in 1999. Researchers from US universities, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) are involved. The lab specializes in diseases of poultry, including avian influenza."

Spanish Flu - Why is the US government interested? "the possibility for genetic engineering and aerosol transmission [of influenza] suggests an enormous potential for bioterrorism"

I was an on-the-spot observer of the 1918 influenza epidemic "There was seven times more disease among the vaccinated soldiers than among the unvaccinated civilians,"

Comment: So the evidence suggests that it was the addition of the vaccine that caused the virus to mutate, making it much more deadly. Of course, this provides the perfect cover. There is a real flu virus that many will contract, either before or after taking the vaccine. If contracted before, the symptoms will manifest and people will rush to take the vaccine, thereby causing the mutation and death, with claims that it was "too late". If contracted after taking the vaccine, the same thing will happen with the claim perhaps being that the vaccine simply did not work since the virus had mutated. What they will fail to tell people is that the vaccine is what caused the virus to mutate!

And keep in mind what happens to the soldiers who don't want the vaccines...They get in serious trouble. Remember the soldier who didn't want the Anthrax vaccine?

The message: DONT JOIN THE MILITARY!

In Missouri today, on business, and of course while im wandering the streets of columbia i find a young girl, 18, who thinks im in the army cuz im wearing camo pants. She tells me how shes hoping to "get in soon" and i smile and wish her good luck and continue on my way. I could have said something more, but she was exhibiting signs of OPness that made me hesitant. I didnt want to shatter her world, perhaps i should have, but i went with my gut.

My nephew asked his friend how it felt to be a "human guinea pig," and the kid calmly replied that the shots hadn't made him sick, so he thinks he's "alright." Asleep or what?! BTW-- He then went on to say that ALL soldiers coming back from Iraq "now routinely go through psychiatric screening." I don't know if's that's true, but evidently that's what he's "been told."

I'm not sure what happened to the soldier in that instance, but we had something like that happen in Australia when a sailor refused an anthrax vaccine. It was a matter of informed consent.

The policy manual says this:
This policy manual[524] is somewhat different in tone and ruling to the advice that still remains on the website, and some differences within the manual itself can only continue the same confusion that previously existed. It states, for example:

1. Failure to undertake a vaccination program can lead to members being deemed nondeployable, and may lead to a review of their fitness to continue serving in the ADF.[525]
2. There will be no vaccination waivers[526]
3. Any member [of the ADF] who is not current with routine and any designated additional vaccinations is not compliant with Individual Readiness and therefore is unfit to deploy.[527]
Translated it means that not only will a member of the ADF be undeployable, but they can kick you out too. This created a bit of a 'stink' when it happened. The Chief of the Defence Force, however seemed to want to keep his options open.

Senator BARTLETTBut what are the implications of not taking it?

Gen. CosgroveThey will not be kept in the environment where those hazards are felt to be possible.

Senator BARTLETTThat is allthey are just redeployed elsewhere?

Gen. CosgroveYes.

Senator BARTLETTSo you are able to guarantee that there are no other adverse career or other consequences for people?

Gen. CosgroveI mentioned the personal perceptions amongst some people who say yes and a very small number who may say no. All I will say is there will be no institutionalised retribution or anything of that nature[532]
There's no doubt that defence force personnel are the ultimate guinea pigs when it comes to testing things that are dangerous. I'm thinking its may not be a coincidence that so called Spanish Flu may have originated in a small army base in Kansas and was spread to Europe by US soldiers. If there is such a thing as karma, could the reverse possibly happen this time?
