Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): General information and discussion of Home Units

Some apply the hypoxic/hyperoxic paradox during the session, i e 20 min with oxygen mask, 5 off etc. Do you do that or do you just keep the mask on the whole session? (not quite sure if you also have to lower the pressure to achieve the paradox, but maybe you can do that in advanced chambers and if you do longer session, bit confused there)
First of all thanks for sharing the good news Pierre, Laura and others! I haven't heard much about the approach of removing the oxygen for a few minutes during a session. What is the purpose? Can anyone provide any links or information on the topic? I did search this thread but found few details.

Have a look at the Dr. Shai Efrati video posted early on in the thread. He explains the removal of masks during the session to induce the hypoxic-hyperoxic paradox.

Then there is this post by Gaby for you to look at.

About 7 months ago I was dying. Hemiplegia, loss of memory, loss of speech, sleeping 18 hours/day to name a few symptoms. The grade 4 brain tumors were inoperable and they were growing at an alarming rate causing bleeding and massive edema ... I've done about 50 HBOT sessions since May and I've been steadily gaining back motricity, speech, memory, cognitive function. I've even resumed writing my latest book!

Laura - so grateful you are finding benefits and you have progressed so far, and you especial Pierre, with such immediate need, and others, you are all such inspirations. And really, words are not enough except that the world need you all. So onwards and upwards with our gratitude (many bacon dances :bacon:).

You've got some good recommendations, with that in mind, I think that the bottom line is that you test your thresholds, probably you're gonna feel tired and it's good sign (repair). But if you're too tired you may want to reduce the number of weekly sessions and/or the duration of the sessions (it's advised not to go below 40 min per session).
You've seen the chamber and its parts, do you think it would be wise to get some spare parts when ordering? Which ones if so, pressure indicators, masks….?

Comment related to smoking... since nicotine constricts blood vessels Im thinking it might be a good idea to stop smoking an hour prior to a session and an hour after. Maybe more? What do you guys think? Im a chainsmoker myself so I was wondering about this. Maybe the benefits of hbot are more pronounced for nonsmokers?

If you want to. I don't.

About 7 months ago I was dying. Hemiplegia, loss of memory, loss of speech, sleeping 18 hours/day to name a few symptoms. The grade 4 brain tumors were inoperable and they were growing at an alarming rate causing bleeding and massive edema.

Then I started chemotherapy which shows only 15% success rate (stabilization) and did also SRT sessions. In my case the chemo and/or the SRT was successful and the tumors unexpectedly stopped growing.

The doctors stopped the chemo treatment in May after the 5th session because the side effects were too nasty esp. the destruction of nerves endings. around the same time we got the HBOT, which I coupled with ketogenic diet.

Yesterday, I got the interpretation of the latest MRI after 3 months free of chemo. Lo and behold, the images show a slight reduction or a stabilization (depending on the interpretation) of the tumors!

I've done about 50 HBOT sessions since May and I've been steadily gaining back motricity, speech, memory, cognitive function. I've even resumed writing my latest book!

Great to hear how much you have improved Pierre! All the best for a full recovery mate.

Here’s something that probably relates to HBOT. It’s the second part of a series that was posted by iamthatis in the Potential Food and Energy Shortage Across the World thread.

Anyway, short version is that soil will be healthy if it’s oxygenated, and it’ll remain that way as long as we don’t mess with it. Removing oxygen lets the “bad” organisms take over.

The same can probably be said for lots of herbal remedies, things like dandelion, mint, sage, elderberry tend to suppress the bad bacteria and let the beneficial ones grow. Supports the terrain theory of disease.

Not far from where I live there is a normobaric chamber which differs from a hyperbaric chamber:
barometric pressure of about 1500 hPa
oxygen concentration of 37 to 41%
0.1 to 0.5% hydrogen
concentration of carbon dioxide from 0.5 to 3%

According to the description from the website:
Unlike normobaria, however, in hyperbaria, increased amounts of carbon dioxide and hydrogen are not delivered to the body. For this reason, the healing process is, unfortunately, limited due to excessive oxygen concentrations (exceedances of 40 percent). because one cannot stay there for a long time. In addition, there must be at least daily breaks in its use for the regeneration of alveoli overburnt by this concentration.
Hydrogen slows cell division, extending cell life. It is an extremely effective antioxidant, meaning it fights free radicals that directly contribute to the aging of all body cells.
Carbon dioxide in the right concentration allows our blood vessels to dilate and more easily facilitates the "return" of oxygen from the blood to the cells by which oxygen can reach all regions where it does not normally reach in sufficient quantity. It is as valuable and necessary for the body as oxygen.

A stay in a normobaric chamber affects:
thorough oxygenation of all body cells;
slowing down the processes associated with aging of the body;
prolongation of life;
significant reduction in tissue swelling;
maintenance of normal bone density;
stimulating the activity of cells (osteoclasts and osteoblasts) responsible for healthy bones;
improving the function of blood vessels;
reducing the occurrence of inflammation;
regeneration of epithelia;
improvement of physical and mental performance of the body;
improvement of memory-related abilities;
improving the quality and length of sleep;
increasing the number of stem cells in the body (by up to 150% after just 1.5 hours of sessions);
effective delivery of key nutrients to even the furthest cells of the body;
stimulation of collagen and elastin production which improves skin condition;
cessation of frequent migraines and headaches;
less feeling of fatigue during daily functioning;
increased physical and mental performance of the body and ability to remember;
better functioning of the intestines;
Slows down the aging of the body.

One session costs about 20 euros, lasts 2 hours and I've made an appointment for the first session tomorrow.
