The theme of music keeps ceaselessly drifting through my mind.More than a year ago I watched this video in which a violin virtuoso tries to discern whether a recorded piece was played by a living human or by AI. What struck me was that even a man who has devoted his entire professional life to the instrument cannot, without struggle, reliably tell the difference. Which means that for an ordinary person — someone who has not surrendered their life to music — it must be extraordinarily difficult, perhaps nearly impossible, to distinguish between music born of a human soul and music conjured by artificial intelligence.
