Did Nostradamus Predict 9-11 and WWIII?

Dear Readers,

Almost immediately after the news of the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we began receiving queries about predictions of Nostradamus that may apply to this current event. Here is one that is making the rounds:

In the City of God there will be a great thunder,
two brothers torn apart by chaos,
while the fortress endures, the great leader will sucumb.
The third big war will begin when the big city is burning.

Actually, I believe this is the quatrain in question which is being misquoted all over the place. Wonder who started it?

Quatrain 3,98
Deux royals freres si fort guerroyeront
Qu’entre eux sera la guerre si mortelle:
Qu’vn chacun places fortes occuperons,
De regne & vie sera leur grand querelle.
Two royal brothers will wage war so fiercely
That between them the war will be so mortal
That both will occupy the strong places:
Their great quarrel will fill realm and life.

Are there any other quatrains of Nostradamus that may be related to the present incident? It’s always difficult to tell. As we have pointed out in the discussion about the WTC attack, we believe that at least one appropriate reference has already been covered by that of the famous “King of Terror” quatrain. But, just for those interested, we have included some that strike a certain “note” here. Some are “possibles,” but none really get a cigar. You have to stretch to get any of them to “fit.” But, take your pick. (Note that the text was obtained by scanning and text conversion so there may be errors.)
